We will be flying pre cruise to Japan, THailand and singapore .  We will be arriving on the Princess Sapphire May 02, 2020.  Our plan is to overnight in Shanghai, high speed train the next evening to Beijing.  Two nights in Beijing before flying home to Toronto via Hong Kong.  I am guessing a visa is required.  Any advice.

I have noticed several cruises where it is a 16 night cruise with an overnight in the departing port and arrival port. I guess my question is when can you board and when must you get off. It seems there would be some overlap between arriving and departing guests.

Many of us are staying at the Meridien. As for what are the must sees, I have no idea. We are doing a tour that covers the markets and a few of the temples. This will be our first trip into Asia. Very excited, but will be better able to advise after we have gone.

Celebrity does offer a transfer into Bangkok. This is a good option if you are choosing to do a self directed tour. You may wish to look out for various tours organized by fellow passengers with the local tour operators. Local tour operators will offer fully guided tours, the only requirement is that you book your hotel accomodations. However they will be happy to reccomend hotels that are convenient to the tour you wish to take.

I currently have no status with AA, but have been adding approximately 2500 miles per month from credit card purchases/bonuses. (Currently have 85,000 miles)

We are planning a cruise from Singapore to Hong Kong in Feb 2018.(Flying out of Toronto) Based on the current award levels either for milesaver or anytime awards, we are looking at purchasing the economy and paying for the upgrade to business class with miles. Business class in my mind will be a necessity given the 22 hrs flight time.

How difficult is it to secure an upgrade with miles? How far in advance will I be required to book? Would I be right in assuming that I will need to be booking at 12:01am 331 days prior to the flight? (The earliest possible moment) Or would I be better off waiting to purchase the miles when they are on sale and getting the two round trip award tickets.
