  1. It was in their contract.  We called and if we board with a POC.  Then we received a form.  You can not hide it in a tote as everything is xrayed.  About the size of a handbag.  It makes oxgyen..

We did want to arrive in Seattle and be deny boarding at the port.

  2. Received a message from our travel agent Wednesday  informing us Hal would deny boarding for our Alaska cruises.

the reason   I use a probable oxygen concentrator  for flying.  So Hal said I must  have. a lung disease. I had a lung infection 10 years ago and need P.O.C. To fly only.  I have never needed or use it on a cruise ship. We have done 25 to 30  cruises in those 10 years. I offered to let medical center or  the front desk to hold my POC until l disembarked.  I would also get “ a fit to cruise”letter from my Doctor. The answer was still no.

we were to board today forB2B cruises.  we were Told our account had been flagged so we were also forced to cancel 27 day Europe cruise

Finally after called Mariners I got a email Bryon Mckeena in the president office.  He stated I “singled out” and prevented from boarding.

disappointment can not describe  what I feeling.  I also believe that Hal has violated the America Disability Act . i am filing against a violation with the Justice department.

  3. I'll try again. Can anyone advise where the smoking areas are on the Pacific Princess and where cigar and pipe smoking are allowed?

We have cruised 6 times on the Pacific. There is no smoking anywhere inside the ship. The place I remember is the one area is one side aft of the pool

Leaving in 14 days to board the Pacific for our five canal cruise.

  4. I would love to go to Jordan some day. Petra has been calling me for years. :D With us being in port for 3 days including an overnight, I did feel like we had enough time to see the major sites. I would happily return and spend another week there on a land trip to do more exploring. I hope you enjoy Rhodes, it is a pretty place.

We were on this cruise it was a great cruise. Our first full suite, what a experience. We. Noted all of the ports with our adult daughter . Her first to the HOly LAnds. It was our third visit. Our overnight in Israel was great.

We had ASia booked for next year but came home and found a azamara cruise that starts in AThens and ends in UAE. It overnights at Luxor and over nights in petra. Both sites are on our bucket line. So no Asia next year, maybe 2018. Very excited about this cruise. It will be our first azamara cruise. We have been on princess small ship, which is also a old R ship.

  5. Thanks for your responses & advice one and all.

I think we will go ahead and sort something out

We are also on this cruise and thinking of a overnight. It would give us a lot more time in luxor. Have you joined the roll call? Let us know if you find any overnight tours and we will also look for one.

  6. We have been on 6 cruises on the pacific Princess. Never have seen children on board. This is not a kid friendly ship. No anytime dining, no tables larger then 8 persons. There is a nightly buffet dinner. Shows are in a small lounge, not a show room. If the kids are not seated in the front row they will not be able to see the shows. I love this small ship but I do not think it is the right one for families. The kids will not like it and I would not want to be with unhappy kids. The one pool is small. Sea days are quiet with some adult activities(choir, dance lessons, trivia). Some adult pool games. O remember any MUTS. Just movies in the cabins. If you do go get a mimi, they are very large cabins.

I hope you can find a cruise to everyone happy.

  7. We have cruised on the Pacific Princess on segments of the world cruise. They have dancing in the Pacific lounge every day. They also have dance instructors for the sea days. These are not staff but real instructors. We have seen the same couple (instructors) for the past two years. They are beautiful dancers. This is a small ship -600- there was dancing before dinner every evening with a trio play live music. Yes it is old passengers 50-70. But have enjoyed the small ship experience. You might look at this cruise.

  8. I have the same kind of poc. I only need it for flying. Been all over the world with it.

Tried to use the plug on the plane. It did not work not enough power. If you have flight connection you can charge in the airport. I have 7 batteries now and use a small backpack and put on my poc I also use wheelchair assists in the airport because it wears me out trying to pull the poc and batteries.

Most of the airlines are great. Alaska was not as friendly as the others. Transferring to overseas airlines can be a problem. Be sure care all of your paper work. Some info is not always on every connecting flight. The cruise ship will get you a cord so you can put the poc next to the bed

    Have a great cruise.

  9. This is a cheap move for Celebrity. One of things I enjoy about cruise is the everyday things being taken care . I enjoy coming back from the evening out and having a clean bathroom, fresh towels, the bed ready to get into and the lights low.

My room steward not going to like me, as I am going request the same service that we are use to having. This is what we booked and this is what I want. We are booked for a b2b in October. The first leg is just my DH and me in a balcony cabin. The next 12 days we are in a CS with our adult daughter. We are NOT making up her bed every night. If it happens I will be on the phone to housekeeping. There will be three os uf using one bathroom. I do not want wet towels on the floor or try to hang them to dry. My daughter used a lot of towels (washing hair) the she comes to visit I wash a lot of towels when she leaves.

What does the X stand for - not luxury causing. This is a dumb idea whoever came up with this new policy needs to find a new job. If it the CEO she to find a another cruise line to run maybe Costa or one of the old Turkey cruise lines.

WE may have to rethink the 26 days booked already with Celebrity next year. Maybe go back to Princess. We had great service this year on the Pacific Princess,as always.

  10. I have some serious medical conditions. I look pretty healthy but have limits what I can do. I have accepted this. I can get on a tender with no problems. But there are many tours I can not do, again I accept this limit. There have been activities that I have had to give up. Yes I miss them, but again I accept my limits. I have been question by strangers why I us a wheelchair at the airports. I have to pull my oxygen machine, it to hard for me.

I would not expect things to change, because I can not do them. I accept ny disability. I feel if you have should accept would you can do , not what you can not do. I love to travel and are so glad that I can still cruise, if I have to stay on the ship, It better then sitting home.

  11. We have done this cruise the last two years. Booked both the last 45 days before sailing. For some reason this is not a well booked cruise, so the fare is very reasonable after final payment. The world cruise starts FLL and Los Angeles. So a lot of passengers get off in FLL This is one of the last Panama Canal cruises for the season. (It is the start of the raining season).

This is a very small ship some love it (I do)and some do not like it. It is always been a very friendly ship with great service. We have done 6 cruises on the Pacific.

  12. We did the small boat trip from the ship, You get on the boat in Tracy Arm and get up closer to the glacier and then go to the south glacier. We saw calving at South Sawyer. We also saw orcas, bears, eagles, seals. They said someone saw a whale. The orcas(killer whales) were great we follow them for about 30 minutes. The tour was the best thing about this cruise. You meet the ship back in Juneau in time for any afternoon tours.
  13.

We have a cruise booked on the Pacific Princess departing Port Everglades on 4/25. This is the last cruise before dry dock and it appears there are a ton of staterooms that have not been booked...around 100 as far as I can determine.

The cruise is 17 nights, Port Everglades to San Pedro.

Would you book this cruise? My concerns are: 1) It is a small ship. 2) If it's not full, will it be s boring cruise? 3) Will part of the service crew be on vacation? 4) Will activities be limited?

We are booked on this cruise. Did the same cruise last year. this is our 6 cruise on the Pacific. WE love the small ship. It is different then the big ships. You feel like you gave joined a family. The crew gets to know you by name. This cruise is the last voyage of the world cruise ending in LA. Some start the world cruise in FLL (they will be getting off) and some passengers joined in LA and they will be finishing their world cruise.

There is no any time dinning. Small dining room. We have always have great service on the Pacific.

We do have a very small roll call. Come join us.

    Pam

PS The price on this cruise is the lowest I ever seen.

  14. To our member WS80-

I was in our local mall when the news broke of the Brussela attack. I can tell you there was an audible gasp, and then a mournful silence. Israel feels for you, stands with you, and supports you.

I just posted this on the thread that Cynthia refers to above:

As someone who has lived for many years with terrorism, I have mixed feelings about this article. Yes, life goes on, and yes, my husband and I have made it a point to patronize businesses in the close proximity of an attack as soon as possible after, but I see nothing wrong with abstaining from large sporting events, etc, for a time - especially in the current situation, when terrorists are proclaiming their intent to target such sites.

No one here thinks Israelis are 'giving into terrorism' when we avoid certain areas and events while we are in the midst of a terror wave. Just the opposite- we know it's the smart thing to do, and if anything, it is honorable to protect yourself and your loved ones. Not saying that life stops; it goes on, but wisely.

The following may be of interest:

I also take some exception with all the posts declaring how more people are killed in accidents, etc than terror attacks. There is nothing as devastating as a terror attack, and it's fairly clear that contemporary terrorists are aiming to inflict as much damage as possible - meaning injuries and deaths- with each attack. I fear it won't be long before we see attacks causing massive casualties (in fact London is reported to be on alert for exactly that). I'm not saying don't travel, and I am not trying to be a doomsdayer. Life does, can, and will go on, as will adventure and pleasure! But there's aware, and there's naive. I live here by being a realist- and by ever remaining hopeful.

Thank you Ruth for you insight. We are planning b2b cruise starting in Venice going to Istanbul and to Rome. We will hopefully visiting Israel. Our daughter will be joining us in Istanbul. I told her to take a taxi to the hotel and do not leave until the next morning in a taxi to the port. We want to show her the Old city of Jerusalem. I hope that things stay quiet in your country and we get to visit. Cruise lines usually do give you much notice about cancelling port.

Our cruise is not until October. We have no plans to cancel it.

  15. Just got off the Star Princess and thoroughly enjoyed the coffee in the International Cafe. Just the thought of a cappuccino made waking up easier. I know there is no International Cafe on the Pacific Princess; is there anywhere on that ship where we can get similar coffee?

It is in the buffet. Just as you enter. They will get to know you and service is great.

  16. The vibrations seem to affect the aft cabins more than others. With the addition of the newer aft cabins it might have quieted down somewhat- can't say for sure. We usually book around the rear elevators & you can see a big difference from that point to the rearmost area of the ship.

The vibration problem happen because of the addittioual cabins. I think that. Why the same plans for th Coral were cancelled.

  17. Please tell me your opinion of your Solstice Alaska cruise? I am on her this June.

A lot of people really like the solstice. We did not. It was big and in personal.

We have cruised on the m class and like them. If you like modern you will like it. We cruised the solstice a week after we came home from 17 days on the pacific princess where service was excellent. The first night on the solstice ( our 50th anv) we were seated in the very back of the dinning Room the waiter did show up for a half hour. We ask to be change and given a table that was full. We ended up in open seating. We could not get a service in the martini bar. There was not a quiet bar on the hold ship, music was loud.

We had booked 30 some days on solstice came home and canceled. We booked b2b on the Connie instead.

I hope you enjoy your cruise and have a different experience. We did have a great tour In Alaska and good dinners in the speciality restaurants. Go watch the glass blowing, very interesting.

  18. We have done 2 cruise in alaska. First the Island(before the worst dry dock) and X solstice. I would choose the Coral because of the open decks in the front and aft. I can not remember which decks. before we had a mimi on the Island(sistership before the remodel). It was great we could go out and see the glaciers get cold and pop back into our warm cabin. Were close to the bow. The Coral has the best viewing areas. We did the land tour first and took the train to the ship. I thought the train ride was to long, but really enjoyed the land part of the trip. It is a different look of Alaska than just the cruise and Princess was so organized. Everything when like clockwork.

    Happy cruisisng.

  19. I am glad I read this post. We are elite on princess with 25 cruises.

I happy that our next two cruises are on celebrity. Maybe princess will put back the always avaiable menu items before we cruise again with princess.

Will someone start a poll about menu change. This may show princess that we are not happy with the changes to the MRD menu.

  20. Hi all - I'm scheduled for a late May/early June Inside Passage cruise on Solstice. Our itinerary has us doing the Inside passage in the evening - setting sail from Skagway at 6p, and sailing through the IP until about 10p.

As it will be evening, we'd normally be eating dinner, grabbing drinks, or hitting the casino/shows around this time. But is there a particularly good location in one of the restaurants or bars that might be especially good for viewing this? Or are we better off just grabbing some of that buffet sushi at 5:30 and then viewing from the observation deck and planning a late dinner?

We also will have a balcony, so could get room service delivered if that's a better option? Any advice appreciated.

try the Tuscan grille. Get a window table the views are great. The night we eat there a whale jumped out of the water just off the back of the ship.
