  1. The ICC is NOT near to the port. You are processed here and your luggage is taken. Relax, have refreshments and you will be bussed right alongside QE ready for you to board. No problem. Once aboard, you can use the shuttle bus to the V&A waterfront. Very easy. Enjoy!!! See you there on the 23rd. Can't wait.

  2. Dear Snowglobe, Deck 11 is fabulous. During our previous cruise on QM2 our friends were on deck 11 and we were lower down on a protected balcony. We visited them a couple of times. It was awesome. They select this deck every time. We have since booked a deck 11 balcony cabin for our 2019 voyage and is looking forward to this experience.

  3. We will be sailing on the QM2 this September on a 14-day adventure from New York to Quebec and back. Our itinerary lists stops in Rockland, Maine, Corner Brook, Sept-Iles, Quebec, Saguenay, Sydney, NS and Halifax. In the past when we have traveled, there are times when we have missed scheduled stops due to weather, high seas, etc. For those who are familiar with these ports, do you think we can book independent excursions with some confidence that the stops will occur?

Are there any suggestions for sights or experiences not tobe missed? Recommendations for guides/tour providers?

    Thank you.

Sept-Iles is a waist of time!

Quebec is great, Take a trip to Montreal. Worth the time.

    Enjoy

  4. And very excited we are too:D

We have booked a Roundtrip for June 2019 and wondered if anyone could help with a question. We understand the time in New York is quite short, and would like to find out whether Cunard provide any excursions or provide shuttle buses into Manhattan?

I’ve been to NYC before and seen the main sites, other half hasn’t but said he would like to see Central Park and go up a tall building - so I reckon Top of the Rock might do it? Would we have time do you think?

    Many thanks.

    Welcome to Cunard

You'll be hooked! Enjoy your voyage.

    regards

Stunning service! We loved it on our last visit on QM2 to NYC. Regards

  6. Hi, Skillies.

In case you haven't found it yet, it looks like your "Queen Elizabeth Q812A Hong Kong to Cape Town 31 March to 23 April 2018" roll call thread was created in the "Need Help Using The Boards? Ask Here!" forum rather than in the Queen Elizabeth Roll Call forum.

    Regards, John

    Thanks John!

  7. Hi,we are boarding QE on 4th April,Singapore to Capetown. For some reason no roll call exists.Anyone know of any private tours in Mauritious or better still share if on same cruise.Cheers,Brian.

I have started a roll call from Hong Kong to Cape Town today, but I do not see it anywhere so far. Lovely to find you!

    Regards

  8. Thank you! That sounds like there is plenty of time on day one. And we can probably ask the hotel to look after our suitcases on the last morning, while still going out for a few more hours ( maybe not head too far). Do you remember the transfer arrangements as well organized?

If you're going out just after you got to your hotel but could not check in, PLEASE stow ALL your luggage and valuables in the hotel's safe keeping facility. Our luggage was ok, but we left our Back Packs with the tour operator till they could check us into our rooms. Somewhere along the line, our foreign currency, held in a file in our back packs, got stolen. We assumed that our Back Packs would be safe with the tour operator. They are so busy, that anyone could have opened our Back Packs. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

    Enjoy your stay.

  9. Thank you all for your positive posts. There had been so many negative posts about food etc but you tend to get that with most cruise lines from time to time. I shall proceed with a positive mind and look forward to the cruise which is still 17 months away.

We sailed on her to Majorca. What a wonderful experience. Wonderful service. Great food. Beautiful balcony stateroom. We loved her. Enjoy!!!!!!

  10. The contents of our Britannia bathroom are 1 x 100ml shampoo, 1 x 50ml conditioner, 1 x 100ml bath & shower gel, 1 x 50ml body lotion (all Quercus), 2 x shower caps, a large container containing cotton balls and cotton buds, together with 2 x small round bars of soap (Eco-Boutique natural soap), 1 in the bathroom to wash your hands with and 1 in the shower. There is also a box of tissues. Having just had a shower I'd forgotten how large the shower is on QM2 as opposed to the smaller shower units on QV and QE. I also like the fact that the shower head is removeable from its cradle, as opposed to the fixed shower heads on both QV and QE.

DH has noticed that as the tv has replaced a picture that used to be on the wall opposite the bed, the picture spotlight now shines directly on the screen so I've turned the ceiling lights off and we are now just using the table lamps.

Having looked at the back of the tv I can see 2 x USB ports, 1 x HDMI port and the type of port that you would plug a phone cable into, presumably for wifi. As I haven't brought my HDMI cable with me I'm afraid I can't say if the tv will allow me to play a movie stored on my iPad - sorry! Perhaps someone else can report on that?

I hope I've now covered all the facts in the stateroom and that my observation will at least help someone. Ok, if you really want to look for faults you can, of course, find them as all the fixtures and fittings in the staterooms are original and, in our stateroom, the door handle of the cupboard containing the safe - probably the most heavily used door handle - is marked, but I simply can't fault the furnishings in here - they are beautiful.

Thank you so much for your detailled report . We are really looking forward to meet the NEW QM2. Glad to hear that the Corinthia lounge is a success. Regards and happy sailing.

  11. All,

I know many here have been wanting to see some pics of QM2 after being "Remastered."

I am uploading pictures from my trans-Atlantic crossing to a Google Photos album which I have made publicly available at: https://goo.gl/photos/4r1FUXyn6eHmTCaa9

Later on in the crossing I'll write a bit about my impressions of the remastering of QM2.

I can say that in spite of their putting in all new Aruba Wi-Fi equipment, the satellite Internet connection is no better than it was on the Christmas New Years cruise.

    Thanks,

    Roland787

Thank you so much for the photos. Some of the cream colored carpets are going to show the traffic soon and make the areas look tired. Other than that, we are looking forward to our 1st of September Fashion crossing.

  12. We are on the first trip from Hamburg on 21st June, Hope to take many photo's while on the cruise.

We will do TA on 1 September 2016 from Southampton to New York. Please post the photo's of all the new features. Looking forward!

  13. The itineraries for the rest of 2017 should be released soon. What would you like to see ? Any new ports you would like Cunard to visit ?

Majorca please! With an excursion to Valle de Mossa to visit the monastry where Chopin and George Sand lived and worked during one Winter. Lovely shopping in this delightful spot.

  14. I'm quite aware of the Cunnard limitations. However, I would still like to know the minimum currency exhange on-board. There is a $500 minimum at our local banks and I want to have some local currency as I step off the ship.

    Bob

If you look in the Voyage Personaliser you should get the answer to your currency problem. You can also send an email with questions from that location. Cunard will respond.

We did the South America cruise on the Queen Victoria last year and never had a currency problem.

    Kind regards

    Skillies

  15. Does anyone know the minimum amount of currency that can be exchanged on-board the QM2? We are also doing the South America segment and would like to have a small amount of local currency for incidentals (taxi fare, subway, drinks, etc.). I am aware that the ship's exchange rates are not the best, but wouldn't mind that if I could just get small amounts.

    Bob

Cunard does not have all the currencies available on board ship. If you think you will need it, get it at home or draw from a local ATM. Regards, Skillies.

  16. We are picking up the South American sector of the QM World Tour.

We fly into Brazil, get met at the airport, taken to a hotel and met again in the morning to join the ship. I am assuming that we will not require cash (Brazilian Real)?

We then stop twice in Uruguay. We will no doubt book ship tours for these days. Therefore, the only need for cash is likely to be tips for the tour guide? Would it be bad form to give US dollars? Having said that, if we get the chance we might stock up with a bottle or two of wine?! I assume we could pay for these with a credit card?

Then we stop once at Ushuaia in Argentina. Again, we will book a ship tour. Any need to get a few Argentine Peso's?

Our final stop is Punta Arenas in Chile. Currently there is no ship tour that excites us. We are airing towards just getting off the ship & doing our own thing. Therefore, greater likelihood of needing cash (Chilean Peso). Plus, we will definitely stock up with some wine (Chilean is our favourite). Finally, it's always handy to have some cash at the airport.

Therefore, subject to your helpful comments, I am thinking of taking just US dollars & Chilean Peso's to get by. Any views please?

You can pay with your credit card for everything. You do not need Chilean currency.
