  1. On the Marina…..do the A4 concierge staterooms have larger balconies than A1-3?

I’m a little bummed that the renovation being done to the Marina will not include the Concierge and below staterooms; only the “suites”.  The additional renovation plans sound exciting!

Otherwise, excited to be sailing on “her” in the future!!

  2. I’m looking at the “spa” offerings prior to our cruise on the World Europa.  Right now (pre-cruise) they’re offering just two kinds of services for massages….one is the traditional “Bali” massage and the other is the “Ballianese massage with hot rocks”.   Of course if you sign up now you get a discounted (30% off) price BUT……all I want is a neck and shoulder massage.  Does anyone know if there are more types offered once you’re on the ship?

  3. Just wondering what time the YC passengers are allowed to board the World Europa out of Naples, Italy?  Also, the morning of disembarkation at the end of the cruise, what time do the YC passengers disembark?  Is it possible to have breakfast or lunch prior to disembarkation for the YC passengers?  Just wondering so we can notify our driver what time to be at the ship.  THANKS!

  4. Add me to your growing followers!!  Our group of six (our daughter; son-in-law and two older teenagers and my hubby and I) are sailing on June 19th on the World Europa (Yacht Club) out of Naples.  We originally booked our 50th wedding anniversary celebration cruise for the spring of 2020 but, as everyone knows, Covid came..

So now here we are three years later and we’re all so excited!  I’m very much looking forward to your reporting!!!

  5. We have a Mediterranean cruise (all paid up) scheduled for June on the World Europa.  We began our on-line check-in (for ourselves and the rest of our family - two cabins, both in Yacht Club Deluxe) and I noticed that our original cabin assignments from all our other correspondence has been changed from cabins on the 21st deck to the cabins corresponding with the 18th deck.  Now, it would be no big deal except……there are NO corresponding cabins on the 18th deck on the World Europa with those two cabin numbers!!!  Our TA is out of town so won’t be able to address this issue until later this week and I’m extremely stressed.  Is there anyone that’s dealt with this before?

  6. Hello!  Six of us are scheduled to sail on the World Europa (WE) this June in the Mediterranean in the Yacht Club section.  We’ve paid MSC in full for the cruise but find it perplexing that we haven’t received any info about any of the details of the happenings on the ship during our cruise.  On our account online it does list excursions offered at the different ports of call along with the choice of reserving dinner at a few of the restaurants; spa options; etc….

What we don’t know and what info is not on our online account are:

    1. What time is breakfast; lunch; and dinner served in the Yacht Club diningroom and are we given set times? We have many non-MSC excursions at various times of the day so it would be helpful to know this.

    2. If, for instance, we miss lunch because we’re off the ship on an excursion and the diningroom is closed when we return, what are our other options?

    3. Does the mini-refrig in our cabin get automatically restocked at no charge throughout the cruise? Are there snacks available, too?

    4. Since we’re in the Yacht Club section, does that mean we also are able to get free drinks anywhere on the ship?

    5. Is gelato included in any of the Yacht Club perks?

    6. We understand that there are many shows presented onboard but how do you know what the shows are and how does one get tickets ahead of time?

    7. On the Europa, will we get wristbands to identify us and allow us to purchase things while on the ship or will we each get a medallion of some sort?

    8.  Exactly how many specialty restaurants are on the WORLD EUROPA?

    9. Can we get a printout of what we’ve charged anytime we wish?

    10. Is there a dress code in the YachtClub diningroom and is it strictly enforced?

    11.  We’re sharing the cabin with our very tall grandson.  He will be sleeping on the couch.  Is that couch a foldout bed (hope so!!!) and if so, has anyone experienced sleeping on one?  Can you ask the butler for a foam mattress cushion to make it more comfortable?

    12. Are there any apps you can get for your IPHONE in order for us to know where each of our party (of six) is located on the ship at any given time?

    13. Can anyone post the breakfast/lunch/dinner menus from the WORLD EUROPA Yacht Club diningroom?

    14.  Can anyone give us an idea of what is served at the grill poolside at the Yacht Club pool?

Thank you to anyone who has recently sailed on the WORLD EUROPA and wishes to share their experiences!!!

  7. Hey mscdivina2016,  I see you will be on the Seaview soon!  Please, share with us your experience onboard this ship and your thoughts of YC.

We are scheduled for a Mediterranean cruise in June on the Seaview and in YC.

    Thanks so much!!

  8. …..especially if you pre-test negative prior to boarding an 8-hour flight to Rome from the U.S.; spend a few days touring there prior to your cruise; take a required pre-test (at the most…48 hours prior to embarkation) and test POSTIVIE.  BUMMER.

  9. We are booked on a cruise (in Yacht Club staterooms) in the Mediterranean (to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary) for this summer departing from Naples.  This is already a two-year postponement from 2020 due to the arrival of COVID.  Prior to the cruise, we have a couple of nights apartment reservations in Rome with many tours booked there then two nights in Naples with tour of Capri and Pompeii.  We are cruising with our two, teenage grandsons (who never have cruised or visited Europe) and my daughter and son-in-law.

Now we are facing this horrible war in Ukraine.  So,…we went ahead and reserved a Princess-Alaskan cruise for the same time period-TOTALLY different kind of cruise and of course, totally different location. This is a sea/land tour.

In a few days, we’re going to have to decide on which.  Cruise plans seem so frivolous at this time but,……

    Thoughts?

  10. We’re (hopefully) going to be cruising with MSC in their Yacht Club for an overdue 50th wedding anniversary celebration with my hubby.  We’re bringing along and treating our daughter/son-in-law and two grandsons to this adventure!!

We have sailed on HA many times and find that to be a good value with the clientele in the older range. We particularly enjoyed the newer ships (Niew Amsterdam and Konningsdam).

Our very favorite cruise line, however, is Oceania.  We cruised on the Riviera to the Caribbean a few years ago and were very impressed with the ship; the staff; the food (out of this world); and the other passengers were older professionals that enjoy being pampered. We like to be seated at larger tables so we can meet others and found on this cruise some really interesting people!  The only downside of our vacation was two days out of disembarkation, my poor husband began the horrible process of dealing with a kidney stone.  It was hell.  But that had nothing to do with Oceania…

  11. Our party of six will be flying to Rome for a pre-cruise exploration of the city.  We’ll be there for a few days/nights and then drive to Naples the day/night before boarding.

On embarkation we each show them our vaccination record(s)-listing our two shots and a booster AND the written record of the results of a Covid test taken prior to embarkation (maximum of 48 hours prior).

Will that be it or will they test us again once on board?  If so…..is it a temp check?  And does MSC test each time you return from an excursion?

Also, does MSC do a complementary Covid test for passengers before they disembark?  Or do we have to have that done on our own before we get to the Rome airport to fly back to the U.S.?

    Thanks!!

  12. We’ve got a land/cruise booked from Vancouver to Fairbanks as our final stop.  We don’t have an issue with the flight TO Vancouver (from the east coast) but we’ve been looking for hours for a flight out of Fairbanks that will get us back home and so far, we’re not having any luck at all (even tried the EZAir option).  Any suggestions out there?

  13. In 2020 we had booked a June, MSC cruise (Yacht Club) to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary.  We asked our two daughters; our son-in-laws; and our two grandsons to go with us to help us celebrate-our treat!!!  Of course, COVID came and we had to cancel.  We are now, two years later, set to sail in mid-June on MSC out of Naples for a seven-day cruise.

    These are my concerns:

Our flights from the U.S. are all set to fly into Rome (four days prior to embarkation so I can share all the spectacular sights of Rome with my family).  We’ll stay in an apartment in Rome for two nights (we’ve got daytime tours booked from morning ‘til night).  Then,  two days prior to our cruise, we’ll be driven to Naples to spend two nights there (with day tours booked to Capri; and Pompeii) followed by our boarding MSC the following day.

We have COVID insurance in place but still……I’m considering the idea of just flying straight to Naples (instead of Rome) with arrival on the morning of our boarding…taking a taxi straight to the ship and then vice versa when we disembark.  It makes me sad that I wouldn’t be able to show my family all the sights in Rome!!!   :0(

But the way I understand the testing now…..before the flight from US to Italy,  we’d need to show proof that we were COVID tested at least 48 hours prior to our flight and that the results were negative.  Then, before we board MSC, we’d have to show proof that we were tested 48 hours prior to embarkation (and tested negative) to be admitted onboard.  Then, when we disembark from the ship and arrive at the airport, we’d have to show proof of another negative test at least 48 hours prior to boarding our flight back to U.S. I think I’ve got all those requirements straight.  YIKES!

If I’m correct with these testing requirements…then I’m concerned about WHERE we’d have to be tested when in Italy?  Do we go to a lab? When are the labs open for testing?  Do you have to make an appointment?  Are the results given immediately?

And,….if any one of us tests negative….then what?  There are six of us so if any one of us tests positive…we’d have to postpone our flight back home…find a hotel to stay in….etc…etc…

Is anyone else going through this and if so,…..any suggestions???    UGH!!!!

  14. My husband and I were supposed to cruise on a July, 2021, 17-day cruise to the Baltic’s on the Statendam.  Recently we were notified that the cruise is being postponed to a departure date of Sept.19, 2021 and now it will be a 21-day cruise instead of the 17-day cruise and on HAL’s new ship, the Rotterdam rather than the Niew Statendam. Additionally,, I believe, there are at least two other previously planned/now cancelled cruises that are combining with our (old) cruise date to the new, Sept. date.

Purchasing travel insurance as part of the equation is becoming a bit complex.  We were notified of this change of date/itinerary on August 26 (and the statement date was also Aug.26).  So because of these date/itinerary changes implemented by HAL, we are still within the time period (and the time frame varies from policy to policy but within a week or two of each other) to purchase travel insurance that contains the phrase, “cancel for any reason”.  The difference from past policy wording and now is that if you DO have to cancel down the road for any reason, the insurance companies that we have studied only refund 75% instead 100% as in the past.

Have any of you also found this to be true and if so,.....has anyone discovered travel insurance companies that offer 100% refunds on policies including the “cancel for any reason” clause?  THANK YOU!!

  15. I can understand the cruise companies covering their bases but.....you really have to keep in mind....how many times do you expect to cruise in your future? I know my husband and I have been retired for about six years and as long as we’re healthy and there’s a vaccine available, we’ll keep cruising.   But...if the sizeable deposit placed on a future cruise can only be used as a ‘credit’ for a future cruise on the same cruise line, that may be a problem. I don’t know about everyone else but I’ve cruised on a handful of different lines.....Oceania; Princess; NCL; HAL; etc.. because I shop around for what I feel is the best deal/itinerary.

  16. Hello!

We are looking at a Baltic cruise for next year-end of the summer and in the YACHT CLUB on Splendida....and hopefully there will be a vaccine by then or we won’t even consider it.

    My questions are:

Have any of the perks changed since the COVID arrived?

Does YACHT CLUB and all it’s wonderful perks still appear to be in place for next summer as it was BEFORE Covid?

    Thanks for your input!!

  17. I’m also interested in this.  Right now, MSC has their 2022 Calendar through April of 2022.  I’d guess that any cruise schedules for In the summer (June 2022 or later) won’t show up on the MSC website offerings until around November of this year.
