Thank you so much for the explanation. I had known previously that it was per cabana - but when there was a price change and I actually tried to go through the checkout process, that’s when I got thrown off. I actually called customer service earlier today and they confirmed what you stated above, that only one person needs to book.

Your description of who developed their tech made me laugh out loud 🙂

Even knowing that I only needed to book one person, I had the same troubles until I backed up and removed my dh, as it chose us both automatically and gave me the “double price”

I am excited we got a bungalow, I just couldn’t justify the cabana price. Hoping the bungalow works just as well for our group!

Bungalows are on the beach at the far end of Columbus Cove.  They are similar to a cabana, but don't have the little "patio" area in the front -- just the roofed area.

The beach in front of the Bungalows is restricted to Bungalow users only, so it's not wall-to-wall chairs like the rest of Columbus Cove.

Thanks 😎 that is very helpful!

  3. Does anyone know the difference between the cabanas ($550+) and the bungalows ($250ish)?

    Location?

    any photos?

last time we went in 2016 I don’t remember seeing anything other than the cabanas on Nellies and barefoot beach. We are in a JS, so I dont think we have access to Barefoot Beach.

The bungalows have a max of 8 people. I got lucky with my group of 10 arriving in 2 groups, with 2 different people checking us in. The first attendant seemed like he was going to be strict regarding the limit and my husband and I were prepared to sit out. But before I knew what was happening, the rest of the 10 were let in by the other attendant.

To answer your questions from the other post: yes, we all had wristbands, and, you reserve the bungalows on the cruise planner. There are only eight of them and they sold out quickly, but I kept watching and someone must have canceled, because I was eventually able to book one. I think the only way to guarantee 10 people getting in is to book 2 bungalows.

We shared the 2 float mats. It worked out okay.

I see there are cabanas (on Nellies) for $500+ and bungalows (not sure where) for $250 can you tell me the difference and do you have any pictures? Trying to decide if it’s worth it....

we had a over the water cabana a few years ago but it was $275 then!

    There are 6 of us.

  5. It's probably just me, but, I had no idea that tonic water had any calories...or at least enough calories to worry about.

Now I'm afraid to look at what might be in some of these other drinks I consume. ;-)

Hey there! Yes. Lots of calories one wouldn’t expect sometimes. [emoji15] I also use water with just a splash of juice sometimes. With Gin - water and splash of grapefruit.

We were on St. Croix And a bar served a drink called the Jessica, which of course I had to order, it was rum, coconut water, and a splash of pineapple juice. It was very refreshing and nice. I often have it made for me while we’re on cruises using coconut rum water and a splash of pineapple. Gives a tropical taste with a bit less sugar. I try to limit the carbs to booze [emoji23][emoji6]

  6. I make "Apple Pie" with 190 proof Everclear. We like to have a party on a sea day and shots of apple pie are a wonderful thing to have while out on the Balcony.

RCCL or any cruise line has nothing as good as our homemade Apple Pie.

So we bring some with to share with our new cruise friends.

  7. We quit chops when they added prices to half of their steaks in addition to the already higher prices. And now Giavonnis has gotten rid of the filet...saber is ok but expensive for what you get. We will only go to any of them with BOGO. The food in the MDR is ok with us.

We just ate in Giovanni's (Jewel 2/5 sailing) and I had the filet.

  8. Deck 7 has the lifeboats directly below...so some find that annoying, even though you have a full outward view. Although ALL side balconies can see the lifeboat covers from any upper deck....

What sort of cabin do you want? We like JS's, so those are on the upper decks. We prefer the deck below the pool...only one easy flight up and down! On this ship, the "aft" balconies are a freakishly LONG walk from the elevator and stairway foyer...if you come and go to the cabin a lot during the day, don't book those cabins....they 're a pain in the arse!

I find the aft are my absolute favorite. The long walk helps burn off dessert and the view is amazing. Love the wake view. We are in 9654 (larger corner) in 3 weeks and can't wait to check out that view. [emoji924]

  9. We've found the pizza on all Royal ships to be pretty bad but have discovered that if we are making good use of our drink packages, it becomes tastier. :D

Yes, hands down worst pizza ever. It's hard to eat even when I am drunk! [emoji31] the strange texture cheese is weird. (I think it's imitation)

However, I have heard if you get a special delivery to your room by drunk friends it is very tasty!

  10. Thanks for the great pictures!

I would love to see Barefoot too. If we have the option, I'm not sure which would be better. I know Barefoot has the upgraded buffet, but that's not a big deal to me. Barefoot seems less crowded, but I'm not sure if it's too sleepy for an active 8 year old.

We did barefoot in 15, and it was necessary to wear water shoes. Lots of coral/shells near the water.

The buffet is nice, but I didn't find a big difference between beaches but the service was MUCH better on barefoot.

We had a beach cabana on barefoot.
