  1. HI,

We are flying into FLL and have a cruise out of Miami. Any recommendations for hotels with packages that will take you to port of Miami the next day? We have done it with the Quality Inn Airport Cruise Port South, but I would like to look at some other options.

Also, would it be worth getting a transfer to miami from the airport and staying at a miami hotel? I'm looking at all options.

    Thanks!

  2. Thanks for your replies, but jspak124 and cruisegirl1 I think that you have slightly misunderstood the point. Under the new Dynamic Dining system on the Quantum class ships there are no formal nights. But RCI suggest that you try all the restaurants. There are 4 or 5 complimentary restaurants under this system (the other 12 or so have a supplementary charge). One of the complimentary restaurants, the Grande, is billed as "formal wear".

However, as ourusualbeach has said they loan out jackets at the door I'll go with that. It seems you can't get in without a jacket. Don't know how Phil Collins would cope!

Sorry for the misunderstanding. I didn't realize the question was about quantum. I thought the original question, which I was replying to, was just a general question about the main dining room.

  3. We always get travel insurance. We usualyl get Travel Guard, or sometimes Travelex. Remember, your health insurance doesn't work on a cruise ship or out of the country for that matter. If you get sick or need an airlift off the boat, you would be covered with travel insurance. We have been on quite a few cruises, and seen people airlifted a couple of times.

Also, the travel guard or travel ex will also insure your flight. I live in a northern state and usually cruise in the winter. The insurance will cover you if your flight gets delayed/cancelled, your luggage gets lost etc.

We had to make one claim once and it was pretty easy. The airline destroyed my daughter's stroller, and we had to buy a new one in Puerto Rico before we boarded. The airline would not reimburse us, and claimed no responsibility. The travel insurance paid us with very minimal hassle.

  4. Don't stress over clothes at all. My son has never worn a tie on a cruise ship. Both my husband and son usually just wear slacks(and sometimes even jeans) with a golf shirt in the main dining room. Formal night is a suggestion. We have stopped taking formal clothes with us, as many people don't dress up. I usually wear a nice top with capri's or a skirt to the dining room, with sandals.

  5. Hi All, we are heading out on Allure this Sunday Jan 17 and have some questions about the thermal suite.

If you've bought the pass, did you think it was worth it?

How many thermal beds are there? the picture makes the area look really small.

Are there access to locker rooms?

    Was it super crowded?

We have done the thermal suite on the Norwegian Breakaway, and loved it. It was a big area with about 12 heated stone beds, plus another 50 or so comfy lounge chairs, the thermal rooms, a whirpool and therapy pool. Also had panoramic view of the ocean. Just don't want to be disappointed.

  6. So we would usually have 1-2 drinks at the pool in the afternoon. 1 drink with dinner, then 1-2 drinks in the evening. We are not beer drinkers. We order mixed drinks... rum and coke, margaritas, or the drink of the day. We are also emerald crown and anchor members so we get the top tier event plus the regular welcome back party, which have free drinks. We also booked the prohibition party. We are not planning any shore excursions as we have been to these ports multiple times.

  7. We are sailing on Allure on jan 17, and are considering the premium beverage package. Wondering if those who have gotten it think its worth the cost? We are sailing with 2 other couples, and no kids for the first time in a while. We are moderate drinkers, and dont plan on being drunk the whole cruise, so we are not sure we would drink as much as it costs. But we do like the idea of not having to worry about how much the bar tab will be. Would like some feedback to help us make this decision. Thanks!

  8. We are sailing NCL for the first time on 11/8 on the Breakaway. We usually sail RCCL. What's everyone think about the Specialty Dining venues? Are they worth the cost compared to just eating in the Main dining room? Do they usually offer reduced prices onboard for booking the specialty restaurants the first day?

    thanks in advance!
