  1. Just searched for boarding time since this is our first time on MSC and were wondering about choosing a boarding time. (sailing Seascape in January!)

So, we don't get to choose our boarding time? If we are Aurea can we also show up early like YC can? TIA!

Thank you so much for the review Kahuna. You are doing a great job!

We are on an upcoming Reflection cruise and were just notified that the Dominican Republic isn't happening. What did they replace the DR with on your cruise? God forbid I have to wait a few days for them to post it. HAHA!

Which sailing are you on? We are on the 12/26 and I did communicate with the new port in Puerto Plata that they are opening on 12/15 and expecting Reflection on 12/31. They also told me they have "surprises" planned at the port that day since it is New Year's Eve day.

My friends were on a Carnival ship that stopped at Peurto Plata last week.

Yes, Carnival has their own port called Amber Cove. What I've read is that Virgin was trying to strike a deal with them to let their ship dock there but they won't sell to other cruise lines, including Royal Caribbean and Celebrity.

Thanks for your review. Sailing on 12/26 in a Sunset Balcony.

We are on that sailing also! So excited to cruise again. Have you heard/seen anything about the port in Dominican Republic? We are seeing it won't be ready and RC is already canceling stops there through April 2022!

  5. My family’s set sail pass suggests boarding between 12:30-4:00. What did your time say and what is the new boarding time?

We got an email from RC about an hour ago with the new check in time. That's after we got the email from them that they were also cancelling the excursion we had in Costa Maya (the same one that had the bus crash.)

I called RC and they said everyone saying this weekend will have delayed check in as a precaution but that they weren't reporting any problems on the ship.

  6. Actually, it doesn't stink. There really is no need to make reservations ahead of time on the Freedom class ships. You will get into the shows. The nice thing is that you don't have to decide what you MIGHT feel like doing months ahead of time. There is a lot to be said for being able to just make spur of the moment decisions when on vacation.

I'm not that kind of traveler. I'd rather plan it all out now so I don't have to think about it once I get there. We leave on the New Year's Eve sailing so I'd like to really not have to plan since the day we leave is New Year's Eve and I'd like to begin celebrating the minute we board! :D
