  1. I'm looking for info from anyone that has flown to Tahiti on ATN via LAX.  Our domestic flight to LAX most likely will not be on the same record locator as the ATN flight so our checked bag will not be checked all the way through to PPT.  So, what are the logistics from deplaning in LAX, picking up our checked bag and heading to the International Terminal?  Do we recheck our bag at an ATN counter before going through security?  If yes, how many hours prior to our flight departure on ATN can we do that?  From what I've been reading on your very informative boards, there is another ATN counter at the departure gate that we need to check in at as well.

Also, has anyone used the wheelchair or electric cart service to get from point A to point B?  My husband had one knee replaced two months ago and is due for the other knee replacement after our trip.  I want to know what our options are if he's not able to walk long distances in a short amount of time.

Upon returning from Tahiti to LAX, what's the drill?  We do have TSA PreCheck and Global Entry.

Thank you for any info and pointers you may have from your travel experience at LAX.

  2. Has anyone taken a river cruise lately with Vantage?  I'm wondering what the experience has been like, before departing and during the cruise. I'm hesitant to consider Vantage when looking at options given all of the previous posts regarding payments and refunds.

  3. I'd like to book a river cruise next Spring that would include an excursion to Keukenhof Gardens.  I'm looking for info from anyone that has done this before.  Do I need more than a half day to enjoy the gardens?  Also, how far are the Gardens from various ports - Utrecht, Amsterdam, and did you take a tour bus to get there?

  4. We are looking at the 10 day Tahiti & Tuamotu Islands cruise on the Wind Spirit.  The ship overnights in Bora Bora.  We are interested in spending the night on the island at a resort.  Has anyone else done this?  Wondering if there is a procedure to follow because we won't be returning to the ship until the following day.  Thank you for any advice or input.

  5. The kids finally got back to me regarding their excursions. They noticed your stopping in Amalfi rather than Capri like last year. They did the Blue Grotto boat tour which was #1 on their list. Amalfi looks beautiful also but can't help you there. Do not miss the FREE private event in Giardini Naxos. They enjoyed the wine tasting, said the food was great and it was a really fun afternoon. Their scenic photos were beautiful. In Kotor, they went hiking on their own during the day, very easy to do. They seem to remember the ship's barbecue was that evening on board. After dinner, they went back to town for drinks at a few different spots. In Dubrovnik, on their own, they walked to the Cable Car Station and road the car up, very scenic. Saw "the wall" from above. When they arrived back down in town, they set out on their mission to find the Buza Bar (there are actually two bars, different locations). Enjoyed a few drinks, walked around some more until they found a great spot for pizza. The kids didn't do much in Split due to bad weather but some friends went to the Natl. Park and waterfall. In Rovinj, my son-in-law talked the water sports guys into launching the ski boat and James still tells anyone that will listen about his great day of water skiing off the coat of Croatia! Hope this helps, enjoy your trip!

  6. Orangeman68/Orangeman1968: Thank you kindly for the great info on the logistics of the coming and going to/from Fischer's Cove; it's exactly what I needed to know. We've sailed the Yachtsman's in the past but the ship always anchored in the North Sound and held the barbecue at Prickly Pear.

Regarding your inquiry on the Rome-Venice excursions, my daughter and son-in-law enjoyed that cruise last May while on their honeymoon. I will touch base with them and follow up with you.

  7. Regarding the new location for the beach barbecue at Fischer's Cove: Did the ship anchor off shore or tie up at a pier in Spanish Town? How do you get to the barbecue (Fischer's Cove)? Are there any other facilities at this beach? Can you get a taxi to come or go from Fischer's Cove? We are thinking of going to the Baths on our own and wondering how we get to Fischer's Cove for the barbecue afterwards. Any information you can share would be most helpful and appreciated. Thank you.

  8. I'm just wondering what I can purchase with my OBC's. Can I use them in the casino, on purchases in the gift shop, booking excursions on board, drink or laundry packages etc? We will be sailing on the Wind Surf in February and any prior information is greatly appreciated. Thank you kindly.

  9. We will be sailing on the Wind Surf in February and some family members are looking for info and/or feedback on snorkeling from boat or shore in Antigua. Also, looking at excursions versus venturing out on their own. Any info will be helpful and appreciated. Thank you.
