  1. As discussed on many other threads, including some active ones, the CC bennies are not all that great. IMO you would be MUCH better off with a regular balcony cabin in good midship location. It took me a long time to realize that but I am a true believer now!

Also, we just got off a 15 day TA on Silhouette--a spectacular ship and I cannot imagine Equinox or any other S Class ship being any better.

unless a great mid ship location comes up, we are staying in 9257..this ship is filling right up..as of today, we can't find another mid ship room at all !! guess we will stay put and Im sure we will have a great time...our friends are next door to us on the ship.:)

  2. Prices are based on supply and demand. It appears that more people prefer the Equinox, we sure do.

does anyone know about cabin 9257 on the Equinox ? not sure i want to be that far aft....may forget concierge and go to the middle of the ship instead..opinions ?? thank you

  3. Hi Nanalove,

Generally the midship (close to elevators) are a little more expensive. For example the C2's on deck 10 while the further you get away from the elevators they turn into C3's. Honestly I seem to prefer the C3's. Take a peak at the deck plans on the Celebrity web site.

Hi Kevin, The rooms are quickly filling up on Equinox for the Jan. 23rd sailing. We are booked in the Concierge category but in cabin 9257. We have never been so far aft. Is this ok in your opinion or a mistake ? e can go midship but with no concierge . Any opinion ? Thank you

  4. So glad you were able to find my Photo Trip Report informative. For us it cheaper to fly across the "big pond" to England than to the opposite "west" coast of Canada. Already looking at flights for next March to Fort Lauderdale which are around $800/person ++++.

Hi Kevin, What would be a good deck and cabin to book if we want to be in the middle of the ship..Maybe Concierge too not sure yet but for sure a good view with a balcony.

I loved your thread here with your great pics and information Thank you !!

  5. C409 and C415 are essentially the same, larger than C417, but one has more of a view forward, the other more of a view aft. These balconies are larger than the standard Royal balconies. Here's a view from the SeaWalk. As you can see, you can peek into the balcony but there is a privacy curtain and room darkening curtain that will prevent anyone from seeing in. I believe the balcony doors also have a reflective film so no one can see in. Your balcony is five passenger decks down:

Hello..We are booked on The Royal for Feb 2nd..just a few weeks to go : ) We are in a mini suite on the Riviera Deck...R408...I know this is under the sea walk but is it a privacy issue at all??..not sure if you know the answer..Thank you

  6. Nanalove, you have posted this on the Regent Board.... You need to ask this question on the Princess board and I suspect if you just go over to that board and use the "Search" function you will get your answer!

LOL ! I am so sorry...guess I was not paying attention...Thank you so much !:)

  7. The stabilizers are either deployed or not. If they weren't deployed, you would have felt a lot more motion. There's just so much motion the stabilizers can counteract. Even though the Royal is relatively stable, it's taller than other Princess ships and would be more affected by wind. Those upper decks can act as a sail.

Oh dear Pam !!! I guess I'll be blowing in the wind..just like Peter Paul and Mary.. lol

  8. Hi,

We were on the Royal in that same room Nov. 17. There was quite a bit of rolling side to side motion, in fact several people commented on the amount of motion throughout the ship. The weather was overcast and a little rainy at times. To me, I thought they just weren't using the stabilizers as much because I had heard that the Royal was very stable, but that's just speculation.

Having said that, I'm prone to sea sickness, so this time I brought some meds with me. I didn't need them at all. Even though I could clearly feel the motion most of the time, it had no real effect on me.

Also, after getting off the ship, it took my wife and I awhile to get our land legs back! :)

We had a great cruise and thoroughly enjoyed the new Royal!

Thank you Dan...I guess we will stick with this room...hubby is a doc and we will bring meds...hopefully we will not need them !!

  9. Hi-

While I have not been up that high and can't comment specifically on the upper decks, that time of year should be favorable for calm seas. Of course, there are always exceptions...

You probably know this already, but the middle of the ship (on any deck) would also be the steadiest. - Diana, http://musingaboutcruising.blogspot.com.

Thank you for your reply ! I am going to stay put on the Riviera.Deck..Hubby is a doc so we will bring meds i guess...lol

  10. Hello out there.....Does anyone know anything about the Riviera deck on the Royal Princess. We are booked on that deck for Feb. 2014 in cabin R408...would love to hear from anyone who has been there as to how rocky it is since it is up high. I read that the upper decks are most favorable however they do tend to get rocky in somewhat rough waters. I really don't know if in Feb. we would have rough waters going to the Eastern Carribean.

    Thank you for your help.
