  1. We had priority disembarkation on the Dream in February. We met a host in the concierge lounge at our selected time (last time slot was 8:00) and were escorted down.

Same thing for our cruise Oct 2015/ Fantasy. Met our hosts in the lounge and escorted off on disembarkation/ only joined the line once off the ship. our baggage was tagged in a special area, very fast :)

  2. Well, I decided to splurge and do the upgrade last night. When I called, only 2 concierge cat v rooms where left... 12028 and 11004, I took deck 11.

When i get to port, I may see if any Cat T rooms are available, but honestly it's just hubby and I so space is sufficent in Cat V...however, I would love to be able to get room service, so a cat T would be needed for that :)

Thanks for all your replies. I decided sometimes in life, it's worth it to not always think about every nickle and dime :) I'm excited!

  3. Thank you both for your replies! I think I'll keep the Aft room for now and see what's available closer to/ or even perhaps at port.

Cruising seems to be special and all inclusive irregardless so I think for now I'll save the money and stay put. Just Happy, thank you for the pic of 12028. Your points where what I was worried about, and I agree is probably go with the deck 11 concierge room if I do upgrade.

    Thanks again for your help!

    :)

  4. I could use some help with a cabin decison, if you've ever sailed the Fantasy before and can give insight into what room might be my best choice? Please help me decide! I woke up this AM , after thinking all New Years Day, with a goal of changing to concierge level for this cruise (as this is my hubby's and my 25 anniversary gift; I'd like it to be very special.)

When I called DCL, the only rooms they could offer me to choose from are 12028 on the 12 deck (read some less than favourable reviews about this spot/ cleaner's cart in the way of your balcony and noisier area?) .

11004 is the other choice on deck 11. Currently I have a cat 5E AFT room booked on deck 8 (8684) the views from here look amazing, but again some negative reviews of AFT rooms have me worried (diesel/ fuel smell and black soot falling on the balcony for example)

I understand people are quicker to complain than rave on the internet, so I am keeping an open mind to these reviews. I'd love some feedback or things to consider in whether I should just keep my current booking or upgrade the $2,000 extra for concierge? Another downside is Concierge bookings, all deposits are non-refundable, so if something happened and I couldn't take my cruise, I am out $1,000!! Now I'm back to feeling confused! I just want a nice cabin and a great first cruise experience. So many choices does not make this an easy decision!

  5. Well' date=' you basically outlined the advantages.

There is no way that concierge perks can account for the additional cost. Litho, "free" alcohol at happy hour times, additional toiletries, munchies are all nice, but no way on earth that 2 people can consume enough to make that a financial good deal. What you are paying for is that gold KTTW card, the ambience, and the fact that the concierge team has a member sitting in the lounge to do your bidding.

While YOU won't have kids along, there will be kids in the concierge lounge and sun deck area...and there will obviously be other guests. From the tone of your post, it sounds like the money is not a big deal to you. If that's the case, go for it. Basic bottom line, if it is not taking food out of your kids' mouths or ruining their education funds then it becomes YOUR choice what you do with your money. If feeling "special" is important to you, go for it. After all...you never know what may happen in life. Live it while you can.[/quote']

Thank you mokis mommy! The reason I'm thinking if splurging is because this trip will be paid by my inheritance, sadly my mom passed away at the beginning of December, only 67 yrs of age and missed enjoying some of the things she worked so hard for! She had just moved into a new condo, purchased brand new everything ( leather furniture, appliances, renos, etc...) and the tags where still on her furniture when she passed very suddenly and unexpectedly :( so I am using some of my inheritance for a trip with my husband, we've had very bad 2 years and I want to do something to relax and enjoy happiness with my hubby.i guess I can call the price of the splurge just part if the cost of doing my vacation how I'd most enjoy it! As we know too well, you are never guaranteed tomorrow, and sometimes it's ok to splurge and enjoy today if it won't bankrupt me :)

My mom would've enjoyed knowing I shared some quality time with my husband, and this splurge will add the ambience to my vacation I am craving right about now! I think I will upgrade and just go with it, as $1,900 although pricey won't cause undue, long term hardship. Thank you for your reply :)

  6. Hi Everyone :) I'm excited as I just booked my first cruise to celebrate my hubby's and my 25 anniversary. I chose the OCT 31-Nov7 western Caribbean C itinerary on the Fantasy. Currently I booked one of the very centre AFT rooms on deck 8, but have been really contemplating upgrading and changing to concierge. I'm wanting to make this trip extra special as it'll be just the 2 of us and no kids. Would you think the upgrade to concierge would be a good splurge? It'll be approximately $1,900 more, however the emotional investment is worth thinking about it. At WDW we always choose to stay club level, so we really appreciate the concierge experience and the separate lounge area. My hubby isn't great with crowds, I thought having the private sun deck and the dedicated lounge may give us a few more options for relaxation. Thoughts!?
