  1. Cruising January 2nd. Final payment is due early October.

I understand that if we cancel after final payment but before 48 hours of sailing time we can get a credit that must be used within 12 months. The credit doesn't work for us it is difficult to book vacation less than a year out.

if Royal changes Covid protocols after final payment and we are no longer eligible to cruise can we get a refund instead of a credit?

We have mixed dose vaccines so currently aren't eligible to cruise (that regulation though doesn't currently extend to January) but boosters may be an option.

Let's say in November they extend the fully vacced requirement into January and we still don't have a booster can we get a refund?

You mentioned you were looking for such places on deck map as if the ship would have a dedicated venue.

Comedy shows are likely to be in the main theater, like all other ships. Karaoke is likely to be in the Music Hall as that's where they usually happen on the other Q class ships.

Thank you. Apologies I have only been on ships with dedicated comedy clubs and karaoke bars

Just received an upgrade from Jr Suite GTY to crown loft suite on the Allure for February 10 sailing. Originally bid on grand suite upgrade for $450pp. They called today to see if we would take the loft suite for the same price.

We are on that sailing.  Did you accept the upgrade? I assume you would unless you don't like stairs

  4. Royal Up is genius. The fact its not a real auction allows them to pick and choose winners based on max revenue.

Guest A bids $500 on big suite and bids $300 on medium suite. Guest B only bid on the big suite but only for $400. So instead of giving the big suite to highest bidder you give Guest B the big suite and guest A the medium suite and revenue is $700. Or Guest C has 4 drink packages and 4 specialty dining booked don't upgrade him to have suite perks as he might cancel speciality dining and drink package etc etc etc. Not saying tbhs is how it works but its how it could work to maximize revenue.

Not sure of your itinerary, but the Western Carribean itinerary that departed yesterday has someone doing a live blog on this post,

I'm sure you could ask the question. We sail on the Eastern Carribean itinerary next week so I can update you when I get back. Both sailings are 4:30 departures.

Thanks! I am doing Eastern on Feb 10th. All the cruise compasses that I can find pre Christmas were also 4:30 sail away (both east and west) I will keep an eye out for your update or from other people. Will keep dining the same for now.  Enjoy your trip.

  6. I notice on the Royal app for our Allure sailing in February is now showing a Muster drill at 5:15 which changed from 4:15. With Royal technology I don't know what to trust. if it will be 5:15 then i would move our dining later so we can enjoy Sail away.  Should I trust the app? Is there somewhere on the website I can see the ship schedule?

  7. 38 days until we sail and I see there a Guarantee neighborhood balcony cabins available for less than $200 than what we paid for our inside cabin. Will they allow us to upgrade to a guarantee cabin? I assume it would be a Boardwalk balcony since I only see one central Park balcony left.  If we do upgrade are we guaranteed to get a neighborhood balcony, we would not want an ocean view balcony (without knowing where it is)?

Bigger room + balcony. Potential noise concerns that we are aware of. any other pros and cons of upgrading to a guarantee room (I assume we also get a Johnny Rockets meal)?

    Thanks

Understood, but Royal can designate a stateroom with a minimum occupancy number, and if that number is greater than 4, then you are out of luck seeing that stateroom on an end-user website.

it appears to be doing the opposite, I search for 2 people it gives me a room that holds 4 or 5 (3 beds), I search for 4 people that room is not displayed.

  9. As we all know the Royal website is top notch...

I am always on the Royal site playing with options, dates, ships, rooms to find what fits our family of 4 (rooms that sleep 4(5) but with 3 beds so the kids 14 and 10 don't kill each other) our budget and our schedules.  I enjoy the research and it helps me determine when to book, at what rates etc.  Calling RCI is too time consuming when just doing research.  The issue is that the Royal website doesn't give accurate information (gasp! hard to believe) Today's example for a family of 4 I could only find a normal inside room, when I searched for  2 people instead of 4, a Promenade Interior room was available (sleeps 5 with 3 beds).  Changed it back to 4 people and the room disappeared. I assume if I called it would be available but alI I want to do is research all my options. Does anyone know a way to accurately see inventory? perhaps a 3rd party site? Again I know calling or using a TA would help but very time consuming to be looking at multiple ships, dates and room types.
