  1. I’ve been on 4 Carnival cruises since 2014, the last one in Oct 2022 on the Spirit(booked the Freedom) but Carnival switched ships, and each cruise worse than the last….none were horrible by any means…. But you notice the changes/cutbacks….. the last cruise the ship was way understaffed, and the service suffered,  I’m sure I’ll cruise with them again, but def taking a break from Carnival for a while to see if things get any better.

We recently did an 8 day on the magic and the playlist shows were 88 keys, country roads, america rocks, and flick.  Didn't care for 88 keys, didn't go to country roads, america rocks is good everytime, & didn't get to see a full production of flick.  With flick they just sat on stools and sang the songs, very disappointed.  Said they had technical problems but talking to others this seems to happen often for some reason.

Thanks... is America Rocks similar to Epic Rock?

If you're referring to Playlist Production shows, this list (made by Cruise Critic) was last updated in March, 2018 but I think everything's still the same. https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles.cfm?ID=3235

Yes, I was referring to the Playlist Production shows, I just didn’t know if Carnival posted somewhere what ships have what shows, or if they switch them up from time to time...

  4. If a cruise line is ONLY taking things away, you are getting less for your money. However, if they are adding things like Guy's, Blue Iguana, BBQ, Taste, Sea Day Brunch, etc. then maybe it can be considered part of how the business evolves/changes with time.

As a veteran of only 2 cruises, I agree with the cutbacks...as long as it keeps the cruise affordable for me. As others in other threads have stated, that they are unhappy with some of the cutbacks..and that is certainly their choice, If keeping those things, amounted to $500.00 more per cruise....would free toiletries, chocolates on your pillows, tablecloths, meeting the maître de, be worth and extra $500.00?? Certainly not for me.....I'm happy with what Carnival has provided me so far, they provide me meals, a clean room...and an affordable vacation...anything on top of that I consider a bonus!

  5. I find this thread quite amusing....I myself have only been on 2 cruises, so I don't have a lot of experience with these situations....BUT.....the vast majority of people in this forums, are always complaining about how people don't follow rules, etc, etc..... here we have a non -rule, and yet somehow its now turned into a "moral rule", that should be followed. Well...I disagree with the OP, in regards to the situation....if Carnival had a rule about no sitting in the Buffet Area unless you eating...and there were people playing games, then yes...those people should be asked to move. But to the best of my knowledge...no such rule exists, so therefor....there should be no expectation of people needing to move. Everybody is on a cruise to have fun, and enjoy themselves... Don't sweat the small things...and seriously...if you cant find a place to sit on a cruise ship....then you should probably think about a different vacation.

  6. Im probaby in the minority, but I dont feel FTTF is worth it at all. I had it on my first cruise, and felt it was a waste of money(my opinion only). For me, the point of vacation was to be relaxed, and fun...having to pay extra to be first on the ship, or first to the tenders wasnt worth the extra cost to me. We could casually get to the ship, board at our leisure, take our time getting off the ship, etc...Again...just my personal preferance. and on my first cruise...it was only 49.99, but my cruise in Oct it was at $59.99, no thanks.....that was 5 extra cocktails on the ship for me to enjoy!!

  7. We were on the Glory, Oct 10-17, and I can tell you, that Carnival did add 3 or 4 smoke-eaters in the casino. My GF and I are smokers, and it wasnt as smoky in there, so I think the smoke-eaters were doing a good job.But I will also say, that the casino was packed every night, and every sea day..and there were a lot of people smoking in there.

  8. Hi,

Same here thinking of booking the Glory for end of November can you tell me besides a Guy's Burger and BI Cantina how was the food in the MDR ?

How were the shows in the theatre ?

Did you visit the Disco ?

    Did you feel crowded ?

    Sea ya

    Eric

I honestly didn't care for the food in the MDR, we ate there on elegant night, so the GF could have the lobster tail and shrimp, she said it was rubbery, I don't eat seafood, so I cant comment. We usually just ate at the lido buffet, not great, but decent enough. We only saw 1 show this cruise in the theater...Epic Rock....was pretty good. We did walk into the White Heat nightclub, it was ok....not too busy. The only time we really ever felt crowded, was standing in line (like cattle being herded into a pen), at the lido buffet. The layout of that place just makes no sense...things like half of the salad bar is at the beginning of the line...then you have to leave the line to get your toppings and dressings....ODD... And also....the carving station is in the middle of the buffet line...so you basically have to get your meat...then get back in line to get the gravy...again...very odd layout...

  9. Ooops, yes I meant Eastern. My first was Western, which I loved. Got off in Belize, but had a gallbladder attack and had to cancel excursion and get back on the ship. The port area was nice?

The port area was ok...nothing but shops and bars, and we found the vendors there to be very aggressive....we only stayed in the cruise port for maybe 45 minutes, bought the kids a few souveniers, then we took the tender back to the Glory, and spent the rest of the day by the adult pool in the very back of the ship. My least favorite port of both cruises...would probably never go back to Belize again, or I should say, wouldn't even get off the ship there.

  10. I seriously CAN. NOT. WAIT.!

I emailed (yes, we email each other's work) my DH our potential itinerary on Monday and he hasn't responded yet . . . too busy working! And he mentioned going on a shorter cruise, but there's no way I want to do that. Western Caribbean all the way for me! Can't wait to head to San Juan, etc.

If all else fails, I WILL go by myself next year. One way or another, I'm cruising! :D

San Juan is part of the Eastern Caribbean, on our Western Itinerary this past cruise we hit Cozumel, Belize, Roatan, and Grand Cayman. With Belize being a useless port unless you have an excursion booked(in my opinion only).

  11. I just got off the Glory , from our Western Caribbean itinerary from Oct 10-17. She is a great ship, clean, friendly staff. BIG BONUS...is Guys Burger Joint, and Blue Iguana Cantina., and 2.0 Upgrades....Great food at both of these places. She is beginning to show some wear, but nothing that should keep you off of her. This was my 2nd cruise on the Glory, and we loved it both times time. The new CD Mike Pack is a funny guy, I have no doubts you'll enjoy the Glory very much!!!

  12. I don't think Carnival had any extra expenses incurred. We had already purchased our Carnival transfer(as did others I assume), and the ship did not leave late....We left right on time..... I think maybe the only expenses was having a shuttle standing by for the late arrivals..and the shuttle was full, so I think Carnival wanted to make sure we all got there in time for the ship(s) to sail.

  13. My cancelling, job change made it so we couldn't make it.

OUCH...so sorry. Im not a seasoned cruiser by any means, but I would do the Eastern Caribbean again in a heartbeat. Half Moon Cay was just about the most gorgeous beach you will ever see, St Thomas was nice(not my favorite, but beautiful nonetheless), San Juan PR was just amazing...we did the forts, and walked around all the little shops and vendors, And Grand Turk was awesome, but a very rocky beach.

  14. Were juggling all of them!

Completely unrelated, but I see you signature says Oct 2015, Glory--Cancelled. Was that you cancelling or something Carnival cancelled. I'm doing a Oct 10 2015 sailing on the Glory, to the Western Caribbean.

I did an Eastern Caribbean on the Glory last October, and it was wonderful. Perfect ship, weather, and itinerary.

  15. Took my first ever cruise last October on the Glory, Planned on arriving in Miami by 11am. My flight out of Boston was delayed 3 times in a span of 12 hours, We ended up not even leaving Boston until 12:20pm....and arriving in Miami at 3:15pm....for a 4:00pm sailing. We were a nervous wreck that we were going to miss the start of the cruise, and would end up having to catch the ship in St Thomas. Luckily for us, Carnival was aware that a whole bunch of passengers on our plane...were cruising that day on several of the different Carnival ships...and they had a shuttle waiting for us at the airport to get us to the port in time to board the ship. But I've learned my lesson, about the dangers of plane delays that COULD potentially cause passengers to miss the cruise, so we are going again this October, again on the Glory...and we'll be flying in the day before. I never want to experience cutting it that close ever again.
