  1. I did my first cruise and as a solo last year and would highly recommend it. In the 10 days I never ate alone in the evening, I was always invited to share a meal with other people. I had my alone time and plenty of social time, just perfect. Enjoyed it so much off on my next one again as a solo, in May.

  2. I have so enjoyed these comments and Keith, your balanced and thoughtful review and responses to people's comments. I have only cruised once, last year on the Shadow SF to Vancouver. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience but was conscious of being a newbie with no reference points other than what I read here. I enjoyed it so much I booked my next cruise and I am off to the Baltic in May on the Whisper. As my late husband used to say it is all about managing expectations- if they are realistic you are likely to be pleasantly surprised on many an occasion [emoji3] To high and you are bound to disappointed most of the time.

Thank you again for your thoughtful and balanced approach.

  3. I too am having a great time, meeting interesting people and all fears of cruising on my own have been put to bed. I am not willing to go too far out on a limb, reviewing as I have nothing to compare given I am a first time cruiser. But other than a few minor niggles so far so good.

  4. I am booked on the Silver Shadow departing San Francisco on May 4 to Vancouver for 10 days. I am travelling on my own and whilst very excited also a little anxious, any advice for a singleton gratefully received. I am also a foodie and am keen to eat at Le Champagne but how does one to do that on one own, without feeling like a complete no friend Charlie!! Thanks in anticipation of some quality and erudite advice - no pressure!

    P.S - I'm a kiwi and female
