I don't know if I will get any feed back here, but I thought I would ask, since it is in regard to Celebrity and Princess. Actually we just got off the Regal Princess in February, and for the most part, very enjoyable. I really didn't think I would like the medallion (I'm an OLD lady), but my family showed me how to use it, and twice it came in handy very unexpectedly. We did pay for the Premier package which is $80 I believe. My problem was I did NOT use it to my full advantage, but that was MY fault. I don't know if any of you who have been on Celebrity has done the Ascent ship, but if you did, I would like some feed back on this ship, as we have thought about doing this ship.

We were on Regal a few weeks ago and I think the Medallion is a very nice feature that other lines could learn from.

    • We were on Regal Plrincess a few weeks ago for a seven-day in a higher level suite.  We sailed Celebrity Millenium last August in a higher level suite, an SH as I remember.  I think we prefer the Celebrity experience by far.  For meals, there was only a separate section in the main dining room, not a separate restaurant like Luminae. The Concierge lounge was small and in a very difficult location.  There was no Retreat or similar on Princess.  The suite itself was nice with comparable bedding and amenities.  No butler or shared butler.  There was virtually no recognition of suite guests throughout the ship.  I was not impressed with the Princess buffet.  Celebrity did a much better job on the buffet.  We are not suite "snobs" by any means, I'm comparing the two experiences.  Celebrity won that round.  I will say the the Medallion on Princess is pretty nifty.  One cute thing, it was our anniversary weekm which I put in my profile.   Every time we  walked by a shipboard display, it sensed who we were and displayed "Happy Anniversay" and our names.  Very nice touch.
  2. We were in 6104 in August which is a suite in the"bumpout" amidships.  We felt we received excellent value for the cost and additional amenities. We so enjoyed it and Millie and the staff, although it was the week prior to the butler changes and felt there was a let down in that regard.  We recently did a cruise on Regal Princess in a suite and there was almost no recognition of being a suite guest.

I had already decided to skip dessert but asked our waiter about it when he brought our coffee and was informed it was available every night.  Guess what’s for dessert tonight?

I will be sure and post pictures so all you old time cruisers can be jealous!

We just loved Luminae on Millie!  Maitre d' was Fernando.  Service and food was excellent.

  4. I sailed in a Celbrity Suite on Millie last August.  We thoroughly loved the priority embarkation,  priority tendering, meals in luminae or blu, the concierge lounge, the butler, reserved seating for shows.  I recently sailed on Princess in a higher end suite and there is virtually no recognition of being a suite guest on Princess.  The Celebrity suite experience was far better.

My initial reaction to your comment is that you would run a business as the person shouting in meetings, "if you don't like it then you know where the door is" and thus you create ZERO loyalty from your team/employees.  So I am glad that you are not a part of Princess senior leadership 😂🙃.

And therefore, if Princess elects to ask me to leave the ship by simply discussing this topic then perhaps it is not the cruise line for me and I will take my business back to a competitor.

If I told you what I spent 40 years of my life doing, you might be surprised.  I am going to resist the temptation to respond.  Good day.

  6. I wouldn't be surprised if part of the shop rental contract provides Princess with a percentge of revenue from the shops.  Processing all sales through the ship ensures that all revenues are taken into account and there are no side deals going on.

That also gives Princess use of the cash from credit card settlements for a few weeks prior to having to settle with Effy and the other shop lessees.

  7. We are booked in an S5 suite on Regal Princess in a few weeks from Galveston.  I believe there is a separate part of the MDR for dinner for suite guests.  Do I need to book a reservation time for that or is it just walk in?

We are green lane now, but does this suite qualify for the pre-boarding hospitality area?  This is our first Princess experience and I'm interest to see this suite comparison to other lines we have sailed.

  8. There is only upside for Princess.  Even if sold out, they are protected in the event there is a cancellation.  If a suite cancels, that creates an upward domino effect for four or five other cabins at $100 or so a pop and worst case they end up with a vacant indside cabin on the lower decks.

We just got off the Caribbean Princess on Sunday. The last time I checked our Folio, we had a credit balance of around $400, due to a gift card being submitted as OBC and a credit from Princess for cancelling our excursion at Princess Cay, since they decided not to allow tenders that day.

So, customer service told us earlier in the week, that any unspent OBC will be refunded to us, either back to the original credit card, or they will send a check. Like I said, last time I checked the folio on Saturday, we had a credit.

Well, besides our flight home being cancelled at the last minute (a whole different clusterfark by Spirit), I get a email from Princess with the final folio totals. Apparently, since they saw the credit balance, they decided to add two different WiFi charges of $104 and $62 (I already paid for the Plus package before sailing, so WiFi was included), they added some sort of folio to folio charges from my wife's account, then to use up all the rest of the credit, they added a "Referred to Corporate Finance" charge of $238, which then zeroed out all the credit balance.

Anyone experience these type of "games" in the past? Of course, I tried to call them, and got some foreign CS person who we really couldn't understand, and they said they couldn't help me, but to go the the "Help" section on the web site, and file a concern through  "Post Cruise" drop down comments.

Anyone else have them play these type of last minute games/charges before?

Probably said before, and I can speak to the $238, as a hotel accountant - the $238 "Refer to Corporate Finance" is zeroing out your onboard account and transferring the remaining credit balance to the guest refund processing system.  That's how our hotel accounting systems work.  The Wi-Fi charges - don't know - I would question those.

One free entry per cabin is included with the Princess Premier package.

I just read the terms closely and I see that although both people in a cabin have the Premier package only the primary guest in the cabin can play. Seems like Princess owns us $10 for the second person.  Doesn’t look right, but I will not be complaining.

    This is interesting  “

    1. “After enrolling in the Promotion, when an Authorized Guest approaches his or her Enrolled Stateroom, while in International Waters, the door panel of the Enrolled Stateroom will automatically play the Princess Prizes game (“Game Play”). Princess reserves the right to implement a cooling off period or otherwise limit the number of times Game Play is activated by an Authorized Guest unlocking his or her Enrolled Stateroom.”. How is that for covering your butt?  They could make it so that it only enters once every four hours.  Which woukd make more sense.

If they get too many winnners, they turn it off.  That's a "cooling off" period I guess.

  11. We went on a Tahiti to Hawaii 12-day on another line in 2022  We enjoyed it immensely.  Bora Bora is more beautiful in person than any pictures you've seen.  The people are wonderful.  I highly recommend that itinerary.
