  1. So, what you've said is that you opened your account with your AmEx card. At some point during the cruise, Carnival revoked your charging privileges as you started incurring charges. You know now that AmEx cancelled your card and issued you a new one (which is a pretty logical explanation for why Carnival needed a new card number). And you were surprised that Carnival didn't charge your final bill to your now cancelled card?? When they informed you mid-cruise that they needed a new card number? As others have said, if this was Carnival's blunder, you could use your AmEx as your payment now. But this sounds like your real argument is with AmEx for cancelling your one credit card mid-trip and putting you in this bind. I'm assuming you registered with your AmEx as many others do, due to the fact that it's pretty well known that the cruise line puts hold on debit cards that can tie your funds up. I'm sorry you're in that situation, it sounds pretty terrible. But I think your beef is with AmEx.

Just as a side note - on my first international trip, I didn't know to notify the bank that I was traveling out of the country so they did put a stop on my card after the first charge. Luckily, when I found this out, I was with others who covered me until I was able to call and have that lifted. I don't know if that was the culprit or if your cc number was just stolen and that was caught by AmEx.

Perhaps the OP should get a second brand of credit card if you choose to travel. That or have more money in your checking account OR be able to transfer funds from savings to checking.

This was not Carnival's fault, get over yourself.

  2. Ok, Just off the Carnival Fantasy with the Cheers program.... I am a beer drinker and the wife will drink 2-3 per day.... I did not factor that the beers are 1.5 the size of a normal can in the states.... 15 per day is possible but 22 is unusual.... The closest I got was the sea days and that was twelve.... So I lost on this cruise, but I had a six pack in a cooler as backup.... Do not carry a rum runner in your carryon... they will find it.... doc

Rumrunners are exclusively for CHECKED baggage.

  3. If I have a wine package in addition to the Cheers program, is the wine counted towards my 15 limit? Has anyone been cut off? Can you opt to purchase the drink before you hit your 15 limit, thus avoiding the cut off? Thank you

No - any wine purchased while on the program that is not by the glass and

$10 or under is NOT included in the 15.

  4. The Cheers program and the higher M&G prices does change the way roll calls will happen. Our roll call has planned to do a meet and greet on our own. We plan on meeting up at one of the bars and enjoying the new friends we've come to know over the months.

Carnival (depending on the CD) will still reserve a room for you if you group is large enough, you just won't have a bartender... lol

  5. If you drink more than 4 drinks, and don't tip after that, then yes you are shorting them.

Only on the Soda Card after 4 sodas - the Cheers Program tips are included in the price to the level of the program. I typically will tip certain bartenders extra for either quality service or to build a rapport to ensure good pours and prompt service.

  6. I was jumping around a few pages to see if I could find my answer but this is a long thread ( But very helpful :) and couldn't verify my question.

I saw someone mentioned a 3 nighter is $69.95 pp, but is the 4 nighter $49.95 pp? I am going on the Splendor to Canada at the end of the month. Thought this would work for my friend and I. Also, is it valid when you are in port? ( St Johns)

    Thanks in advance.

Yes - It is valid any time on the ship, whilst in port or not.

  7. If I am sailing with my boyfriend, and want to pay for his Cheers package, will they let me pay for both on my sail and sign card? Or am I just better off buying him cruise cash to cover it? I'm not anticipating us using the same credit card for our sail and signs is why I ask.

Yes - I paid for my last cruise partner's Cheers with a separate card...

  8. I didn't read through all 61 pages so forgive me if this was brought up but did the drinks being included on HMC change recently? I cruised in January and the cheers program did not apply to HMC then.

Cheers included HMC when the program was in 'Beta' test but was discontinued on the island. There is no plan to re-include HMC (or Little Stirrup Cay either).

  9. Answers above in red.

Sorry for the late response but I see your questions were answered correctly. I cruise solo often and only pay the one price. My 23 year old daughter had her own cabin (even though it was booked with my VIFP number) and she was not required to buy Cheers.

As for the wine sharing... Every night I would buy wine for the table and was able to share it with whomever I wanted. Actually, even at 35% off retail, Carnival is STILL making a killing on their bottle prices.

  10. I have found since the Cheer's Program, the drinks are actually weaker on the ships.

I have found that people's perception is skewed by their thought process. Unless you have empirical evidence that Carnival is watering down booze, I reject your blank assertion.

I love The Macallan and would know certainly if it were tampered with. Additionally, as a Jack Daniels cocktail drinker, there is no doubt that it is 100% from the bottle Jack Daniels without dilution. I additionally paid attention to pour ratios of Cheers passengers vs. non-Cheers and the pour times are the same per bartender.

As for wine and beer, are they watering that down too?

  11. I have found that the all inclusive resorts water down their alcohol so putting away a great number of mixed drinks is far easier than on a ship. On cruise ships I find you have a fair pour. That being said, go for it if you can do it responsibly and have a great time!

It truly does depend on the amount of alcohol you usually drink and your daily drinking patterns. I know some people who can drink a lot one day then nothing the next. For my patterns, Cheers is awesome and I make good use of it. Here is my assessment of my last 2 cruises and my drinking patterns:

Morning: I wake up and love Bailey's in my coffee so at breakfast I have that. Pre-lunch I will have 2 Bloody Marys. In the afternoon I will either have ~4 Corona Lights. I love a dirty Grey Goose martini pre-dinner and wine with dinner (they do have decent glasses of wine for $10 and that fits the program OR I will buy wine by the bottle at 25% off). I usually have 3 glasses of wine with dinner, followed by a glass of The Macallan Scotch (also in the program). During the evening entertainment (shows or karaoke) I will drink 3-4 cocktails followed by 3-4 during the club that night. That pretty much uses up my 15 for the day and I am not drunk, just lightly buzzed.

If I am getting close to the 15 mark, I still order a cocktail but I say 'it is for a friend not on the program' and pay for it.

WARNING! DO NOT HIT 15 - you will NOT be able to order ANY alcohol until 6am even if you try to pay for it.

  12. Thanks for the info, this is a no brainer for me. I've read that all adults in a cabin have go sign up for the program, this works great in that the wife doesn't drink. That leaves me with 30 drinks a day which I've found can be easily attainable while at all inclusive resorts.

I am so ready to get my PARTY on!!!!

Just be aware that each of your Sign & Sail cards has its own account for this program. Once buy 14 on yours then the rest on hers and the last one on yours. Remember that once you hit 15 on one, that card is shut down for alcohol purchases until 6am the following day.

  13. Hello everybody! Friends are joining us on our cruise for the first time in September and we're seriously looking at this program. However, her husband is 100% a beer drinker and we are not... so I have no idea how much beer costs. Can anyone help me out with a typical charge for beer on CCL? We're trying to do a little cost analysis for them. Thanks for any help :)

Since Cheers is $49.95/day, this should assist:

    Sample 1

    5 - Martinis

    ($8.95/per)

    = $51.50 with gratuity

    Sample 2

7 - Top Shelf Vodka Drinks

    ($7.50/per)

    = $53.63 with gratuity

    Sample 3

    8 - Domestic Beers

    ($5.75/per)

    = $52.96 with gratuity

    Sample 4

    4 - Domestic Beers

    3 - Sodas

2 - Drinks of the Day

    = $50.43 with gratuity

  14. Can you rush to have it done by Saturday morning? :)

If you are asking for an official 'Member Review' posted on CC in that section, they usually take 5-14 days to be screened and posted, so you may be out of luck there. He could write his review here (for you to read - and me and the others going on Saturday), then paste it to an official member review for approval by CC.
