  1. I actually called Carnival on this since this latest booster was just approved and there is no way our 11 year old would be able to get boosted 14 days in advance of our sailing. Their position was to play it safe. Treat the child as vaccinated but not fully boosted. For a sailing this Saturday get tested Thursday vs Wednesday.

    Hope this helps…

  2. I’ve got random question re: these moored ships and hopefully someone here can help clarify.  This one might be more targeted to John&LaLa since you are based in Cocoa Beach where its seems there are multiple ships floating off the coast daily.

These moored ships are clearly idle. However, they consistently appear to change position with the wind (eg. The forward/bow of the vessel appears to always be heading into the wind).

Are these ships anchored or do we think they are on some sort of cruise control/ auto pilot dictated by GPS?

Also, John&LaLa - any idea how far out (off the coast) the ships are from a milage perspective? Asking more specifically in the case of the ships off the coast of Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach?

    Thanks!

  3. Hey folks— just sharing our experience on our most recent Edge cruising (which ended about 3 hrs ago). This is also in line with what we have experienced on countless Royal cruises.

But Charm’s point is good: if you are not accompanying your child then it would make sense to buy them the package — especially if they will get good use out of it.

  4. Our favorite specialty restaurants on Edge were Eden (hand down best), Raw on 5 and Petite Chef. We also dined at Rooftop Grill and the steakhouse. All restaurants with the exception of Edge were 100% covered by the meal plan. Raw of 5 gave each holder of the plan a $35 credit — which we did not come close to fully using.

We had kids at all restaurants. Some restaurants charged us $10 for each kid while others simply did not charge us at all.

Members of our group without kids, but with the specialty plan did not have to sign anything (nor did they have to present their sea pass card). Those of us with kids (and who were charged) had to sign for the $10. When that was the case and if the service was outstanding (where it was at the majority of the restaurants) — we added maybe another $5 to the gratuity line. In hindsight I wish we handed the servers cash, but it is what it is.

I would definitely suggest booking Eden for the very first night of your cruise. It is such a great multi course meal and a VERY cool ambiance. If we waited until the later days of the trip then the experience might not have been the same. It would have been far less enjoyable after having had days of the typical food and drink overindulgence.

    Enjoy!

  5. As long as an adult has the package and is with the child then the servers are generally very nice about just using the adults package to fulfill the child’s drink order. One of our kids was only asked for their own card once — and that was in a rather awkward attempt to upsell us (as the parents) to add the soda package to the kids account (early on in the cruise).

  6. Thanks, Pupela -  I just called as well and got the same run down. A little more details:

    1) $50 each casino credit needs to be chosen either as slot play or table play. The whole credit needs to be used in a single seating and can’t be cashed out basically unless you are up (basically you keep the profits).

    2) Two bottles of wine per person. Need to go to the beverage concierge on embarkation day to choose the wine.

If you expect to play in the casino at any point on the cruise this seems like a great value proposition.
