  1. I booked the 10th May cruise on Ovation whilst onboard another RCI ship last year. When I booked I asked the question that as I was booking direct with RCI outside of the UK would I receive the benefit of a price drop should that happen. I was assured I would. The reality is that the price dropped but RCI would not pass this on. I therefore cancelled the booking and lost the £50 per person deposit. However the good news was I rebooked another balcony cabin at the dropped price saving almost £600 per person. Teach me to get assurances in writing next time. But hey-ho, all's well that ends well. Roll on May.

  2. Interesting debate. Prices are not in all cases 'inflated' to include gratuities as P&O along with Fred Olsen have some of the cheapest drink prices in the industry. On some cruise lines the gratuities are indeed divided by all of the various departments. It is only where a separate gratuity is charged that they are not included.

Yes, we do get ripped off in the UK when it comes to cruise fares which is why so many regular cruisers book through an American agent. Not all cruise lines will allow this but many do and by booking that way you can save a lot of money.

  3. On some ships bathrobes are only supplied to certain tiers so it could give the impression of someone boasting about their grade of cabin or loyalty tier. If you were at an hotel would you walk across the road to the beach in a bathrobe? I don't think so. Leave the bathrobes in the cabin where they belong. Just my opinion. ;)
