  1. Hi Linda

We were on Majesty the week before you and it is funny but we had the same problems with the cabin (347) down to the ill-fitting drawer. We ate in 7 Seas most nights and found it fine. I have to agree also about the show team too, Charly is by far the best in the group and carries the rest of them.

We had a hotel week after the cruise so spent a bit of time in Corfu town and also loved the old bit

anyway glad you enjoyed your trip as we did but I think that for us a change of cruise line for the next one may be on the cards, just for something different.

  2. Hi all

I thought I would throw this question into the conversation. My partner Sue and I are not hardened cruisers the one we are doing this year will be number 5 Med, Red Sea, Trans Atlantic, and China river have been the previous ones and this year greece and Corfu. We have met a lot of people during our trips, some we have enjoyed the company of some who I think should have walked the plank. I am an ex forces officer Sue owned and ran a large store. we are both retired but we do look a bit different as we now are the opposite of what people would expect. Ride motorcycles 12 months of the year, as long as it isn't snowing, both of us have long hair and tattoos but enjoy Cruises. We have found that people tend to avoid us but that is their loss. What type of person do you think is typical of the cruising brigade.

  3. Yes an express bus, the X80, picks up from outside the port and goes directly into Athens dropping you by Hadrian's Arch where the Thomson's 'Athens on Your Own' excursion stops and picks up. Or you can get off at Syntagma Square if you prefer - the Parliament building is just across the road there where they have the changing of the guard.

Cost is €4 return and the tickets are also valid for local buses in the city and the Metro too. It runs half hourly from 07.30 I believe but you can pick up details by doing a search for the X80 in Athens. It takes about 15/20 minutes depending on traffic conditions. Absolute bargain!

It's very easy to do Athens on your own as the Acropolis, Agora, Acropolis Museum, Plaka (old part of town with lovely atmosphere, shops and cafes) and even Syntagma Sq are all within easy walking distance of each other. It all depends whether you want a guide or a hoho with a commentary but it is easy to do DiY. (We downloaded a free Rick Steve's audio guide of the Acropolis which worked well for us - we could walk around where we wanted in our own time rather than being tied to a group.)

Thanks for the info I have got myself a notebook and I have started already started taking notes on how to save a few bob, just call me Mr Frugal! LOL

  4. Hi all

Is it possible for only one person of a couple to sign up for drinks package? My other half does not drink so it seems a waste if both of us have to pay for it. We did the Viking river cruise China trip 18 months ago and even though they said we both had to with a bit of gentle persuasion we got away with only paying for me which was a result.

We are on the Majesty 1st May Hellenic.

    Cheers

    Martin
