  1. Hi – In no way do I consider myself and expert on how these things work (I am a beginner myself) but from what I understand (I have already done this for a few cruises) if you upgrade to a higher room they charge you whatever the difference is between the two rooms.

With that being said, my free Mohegan Sun cruise was for a balcony room so - if you are also one of the lucky folks that Mohegan Sun awards this particular voucher to – you won’t need to pay for an upgrade!

Also, my cruise voucher included drinks while playing in the casino (use the casino bar). It would include any drink up to the price of $10 otherwise you pay the difference between those drinks if you decide to go with the more expensive one.

I wish I could answer the fee waive question but I cruised with my husband so didn’t need that information.

I hope some of this helps to point you in the right direction for answers and maybe someone else with more cruise voucher experience will comment to help clarify any areas that you may still have some doubt on.

    Good luck and happy sailing!

  2. I also found it pretty interesting that the casino would be closed in Bermuda especially on a comp sailing from a casino.

I never thought about it being the lucky cruise but you could be right... less money lost in the machines for me! I guess I won't be getting any special invite back from a casino host with our coin in limited to only sea days due to port closing - oh well - better luck next cruise I suppose :)

  3. Hi Linda,

Thanks for helping out with the casino information for the Liberty of the Sea. I will be anxiously awaiting your response/review. I am interested in any kind of slot machines available! I admit - I'm hooked but it's a fun way to pass the time and there is always a chance that you could win your fortune :D.

I was wondering if you have cruised to Bermuda with Royal Caribbean before and if so - do they open the casino while in port? I thought I had seen a posting that they don't open the casino while in Bermuda - but I can't seem to locate that posting now that I need it.

Thanks again and I hope lady luck shines upon you!

  4. I'm not sure if you are still looking for events in the Dockyard during your stay but wanted to pass along this link which you may find useful:

    http://dockyardbermuda.com/

It has a lot of information on the Planning Your Visit tab including a map of the dockyard that lists popular places like the dockyard Pharmacy and the Clock Tower Mall. the pharmacy is perfect for picking up cold drinks, snacks and other items you may need for you days exploration in Bermuda. It also shows the Clock Tower Mall which is just a blast to explore and it's pretty hard to resist buying the Fudge so beware!

Enjoy your visit - Bermuda is amazing!

  5. I am actually going on a "free cruise" from Mohegan Sun to Bermuda leaving this Saturday from Cape Liberty, New Jersey.

You do have to pay for any upgrades, port fees and taxes as well as gratuities (for two people) but other than that you are good to go. It's usually a trip for 2 so your husband should be covered.

You can take advantage of port transportation by working with this bus company if something is available in your area

    http://www.academybus.com/Cruises.aspx

They work with Mohegan Sun travel agents (their travel folks actually place the booking for you) and Royal Caribbean (scroll down to the bottom of the link and click on Royal Caribbean). Mohegan Sun travel agents are great to work with and will make all the arrangements for you

Hope this helped answer some of your questions. Have a wonderful time and I hope lady luck shines upon you!

    Cindy

  6. I am fresh from my very first Jimmy Buffett concert where I learned a lot about myself – I don’t know the first thing about how to tailgate at a Buffett concert! We thought it was a great way to start the countdown to our next Bermuda cruise that leaves on Saturday and would get us in the island frame of mind.

I never imagined the elaborate bars (including blenders for frozen drinks and grills with more food than you could ever eat in a lifetime) could be set up in a parking lot so quickly. The people dressed in some of the best costumes I’ve ever seen with some so elaborate I can’t mention them in this posting (if you get my point). Our little group was quite tame compared to most. I thought I was going out of a ledge with foot long sub sandwiches, chips and a six pack of wine coolers… not even close I soon learned!

A lot of groups took us under their wings, as newbies to the scene, to show us how it’s really done. There was one group that set up the back of a pickup truck as a water slide. If you couldn’t bounce the ping pong ball into the shot glass of tequila and answer a Buffett trivia question correctly - you had to ride down the slide while you drank the shot and they dumped ice water on your head. Unfortunately I didn’t study for the test beforehand and I ended up taking quite a few rides down this slide… well you get the picture (sorry - no actual pictures of this one to share). More importantly, I just started my Dramamine doses that I hope will help me not only during the cruise but starting now to fight off the queasiness from this concert! What a blast and memories I will take to my grave. :D

Have you ever been? Do share the details….

Oh wait… never mind… I just remembered… what happens at a Buffett concert stays at a Buffett concert but - it’s safe to say I plan on keeping a low profile for the next couple of days to recover from this concert experience.

I sure hope that I remember to pack everything we need to make this trip on the Liberty of the Sea a huge success. I promise to try to remember as many of the details as possible and will post my TR upon our return that hopefully will help others the way I have been helped in CC when trying to plan a cruise.

With that being said, time to go make more of that “crazy concoction to help me hang on” COFFEE!!!

Stay tuned, hope lady luck is on your side in the casino and happy sailing! Cindy

  7. to try and change the port of call from the original one listed on the certificate so I will try to find out what I can (once I return from my Bermuda cruise) and will report back any findings.

It's always good to have information on how to proceed with bookings if you have a similar issue so - with fingers crossed I will let you all know how I make out.

Happy sailing and I hope lady luck is on your side in the casino :)!

  8. Hello fellow cruisers,

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck booking a trip with NCL Casino team to book a free cruise from a land casino if the departure port doesn't work for you?

To help further clarify - if the certificate says depart from Tampa but you need to depart from New York - has NCL Casino been willing to honor the certificate and let you depart from New York?

I just can't seem to get my SO to fly and traveling to Tampa by way of Amtrak is quite a drag and a very long trip . Hopefully someone has made these change arrangements with NCL and would be willing to share the details with me.

Thanks much for sharing and happy sailing!

  9. We did the Goslings Sunset Cruise last year with NCL and it was a blast. You catch the boat right at Kings Warf so really easy to get to with little to no confusion.

The crew was a lot of fun and kept the atmosphere light and enjoyable while adding a few facts about how the rum is made.

They bring out sample after sample to try and if it's your birthday you are the proud recipient of a hat and a special glass of rum that you must drink in a certain amount of time or they refill the glass over and over.

The sunset was amazing and it makes for a great Kodak moment or two. They also give you the chance to purchase bottles of rum that you enjoyed during the tasting party. It ended way too soon but as they say - time fly’s when you are having fun! I'm sure you would enjoy it if you are a rum drinker

  10. I will be anxiously following this thread - we booked NCL Star with a departure date of 3/6/16 and will be stopping here. I can't wait to hear directly from someone who's actually been.
