I am aware that if you buy an unallocated cabin, e.g. an unallocated guaranteed balcony cabin, you can be placed anywhere on the ship (in a cabin with a balcony).

I am wondering if I buy 2 unallocated cabins, are they typically allocated near / next to each other? I know there are no guarantees on where the cabins will be, and can be on different decks, but am interested to hear people’s experiences on whether RCL usually tries to allocated the cabins together, when multiple unallocated cabins are purchased. Thanks

ps If I really want the 2 cabins together, I'll pay more and choose my cabin numbers, but interested to hear other people's experiences. thanks

  2. Hi

    Would value advice please.

In March 2017, we booked a cruise on Royal Caribbean for December 2017 through an agent.

At the time the agent told us the only staterooms available ( we wanted 2 together, not necessarily interconnecting, but next to each other) were at the very back of the boat, Deck 9, but if other staterooms became available closer to the sailing time, we could be moved

I believed them. So I booked the cruise even though I was not happy with the cabins

Since then the staff member that told me that information has left and another lady has told me that is not the case - we are allocated those cabins and cannot change

Further, I have called Royal Caribbean, but as we booked through an agent, they wont talk to me and refer me to the agent

This was a learning for me, and I will never book a cabin I am not happy with again, naively trusting the salesperson, but I would value any thoughts on:-

    1. How I can change cabins ? Neither Royal Carribean or the Agent will engage with me as mentioned above, and as the cruise draws closer, I imagine this will be harder with less availability?

    2. How much rockier will it be at the back of the boat, compared to midship?

My reasons for wanting to change are not frivolous - one of my group has a disability, and while we don't need an accessible cabin, we do need as smooth a trip as possible, (of course no one knows how the weather will be but do need to minimise movement)

I would value any advice and as mentioned, this has certainly been a learning for me!

    Thanks

    Thanks

  3. When we went to Tassie from Sydney in January it was really rough one way (but not unpleasant) and smooth on the return, however at that time we just cruised beside Tassie going down from Sydney, whereas for this cruise it goes in between Tassie and the mainland horizontally across to Adelaide, then back again. I don't know enough about cruising to know if that would be rockier than going straight down or not? I did ring Norwegian Line and the girl told me that December is the first time Norwegian Jewel has done this voyage

  4. Hi, thanks for reply, I did Sydney to Hobart with RCL's Ovation earlier this year, where the boat when down the side of Tassie and I was fine (with tablets).

However I am not sure whether this cruise from Sydney to Adelaide would feel the same as in this case the boat is actually passing through Bass Straight, in between Vic and Tassie, rather than just going down the side

Also the Norwegian Jewel is somewhat smaller than the Ovation!

I have however reserved a mid-ship Balcony cabin

  5. Hi

Has anyone done the Pacific Jewel trip to Morton Is? I would love some honest feedback please

I have a hold on cabins, and need to pay by tomorrow. We are a family of 2 adults, 2 kids

I don't mind that the ship is older as long as its clean. I am particularly interested in feedback on

    - how smooth the journey is to and from Morton, (eg sea sickness etc)

    - how smooth it is when tendered near Morton Island ?

    - how inclusive kids club is ? (one of my kids has special needs so I will need to do that additional paperwork)

    - meals in particular availability of in-between meal snacks eg fruit, a milk shake etc

    Thanks so much

  6. i too have fresh lemon juice every morning, We recently travelled on ovation of the seas and I the way I was able to obtain the lemon was to ask for room service boiling water every morning (as in a cup of tea, without the tea) with sliced lemon. They would bring me the water and some sliced of lemon in a plate.
