  1. Why do people get in such an uproar over such stupid things ? Do resturants give away free booze? Why let such a like little thing ruin a great vacation ? You can get several free drinks at the past guest party'!!!!!!!!! I have seen many of you go overboard stockpiling drinks. It's like anything else the more freebies the more you want . We Americans have become the free lunch generation .

    1. It isn't about the monetary expenses. It is about being valued.

    2. Some restaurants do give away free booze.

    3. If someone wants to be upset by product devaluations, they have every right to be.

    4. This benefit was removed from Red and Gold members. I wasn't aware Red members were allowed to attend the Past Guest Party.

    5. Without an invite, they aren't stockpiling drinks.

Vista Sail Dates...notice the 6 and 8-Day pattern later in the dates...like the Breeze 😉 (Miami)

We still don't know if the dates on Carnival's website are reliable. As per the Carnival Vista Getaway Giveaway (http://www.carnivalvistasweeps.com/) and those winning a complimentary Carnival Vista cruise at the event in New York, we know there is an 11 day cruise departing on November 7, 2016. This information is not reflected on Carnival's website.

FWIW, Fort Lauderdale was deployed to the alternating 6 and 8 day itineraries long before Miami was even brought into consideration.

  4. Call me crazy but I say the free water in the cabin is preferable to me at least. I don't drink that crap they have on tap on lido, I don't care how well they say it is pure, it's still ttreated seawater. I wouldn't want to drag a case of water on with my carryon stuff, especially if it's a shorter cruise and I am not checking bags at all and I possibly have a bottle of wine with me also. I know having that bottle of water there on the counter is nice, especially if you just woke up and are thirsty for example. I wouldn't pay for it though although I know plenty of people who do. I always get my free drink but many people don't do that either. Figure those bottles costs carnival at least a dollar or more each, and how much does it really cost them to give you a beer or a drink with a quick shot of liquor anyway? Probably about the same. I don't think this is a cutback but at least they are sort of pretending to make positive changes. And I'm a huge critic of all their cutbacks in recent years. Besides, platinum and above still gets the free drink and the water and a lot of people are platinums so.... As a matter of fact, my buddy who cruised the imagination with me last week (his first cruise) commented that although he paid for cheers which included soft drinks, he still had to pay for the water that he had on his cabin counter. Think about that.

They are not costing Carnival one dollar each bottle. Although Carnival is using 1L bottles, in bulk, 0.5L bottles are only 9 cents each. I didn't care enough to visit a second website to search for 1L bottles.

  5. 1. Can we bring water or soda on board and if so it these a certain way to do this? I took a case of 16 oz bottled water and taped it up with clear tape and attached a luggage tag on Royal and it was delivered to my room no problem. Can I do this?

Yes, but they have to be in your carry on. Waters will be shaken individually to determine if the content is water or alcohol. At ports of call, you can bring on as much as you can carry.

    2. Is Carnival Coke or Pepsi?

    Coke

    3. Where is the Sea Day Brunch - is this MDR or ?

    MDR

    4. What about bringing a bottle of wine (per person) for debarkation? We are 4 adults this would give us balcony wine for several days.

    One per person over 21.

    5. How early can you board the ship?

As soon as the ship is ready for passengers. Could be 10:30am but at the same time, it could be 1:30pm or later.

    6. Where exactly is the Mongolian Wok? Is this part of the Lido deck or someplace else?

    Lido restaurant.

  6. My sister and I are cruising in March. I am platinum and she is red. We are booked in the same room so will she be able to board with me from the VIP lounge? I think I read where the platinum and diamond members are invited to the returning cruisers party. If this is true, then she cannot attend the party, correct?

Also, my daughter and niece (both 16) are going on same cruise. After we board, I can go to desk and ask them to link my daughter to my account and my niece to my sisters account, correct?

All four passengers will be allowed to board with you. Although your mileage may vary, the other three passengers should be able to join you at the Gold, Platinum and Diamond Party.

Only the Platinum guest will receive the free drink coupon.

  7. Another subsidiary of Carnival Corporation now supposedly now has a photo package for $50 that includes one of each photo's event and may or may not include them stored on flash memory.

One new thing I had not read about before: The photo package. They claimed it was brand new on the ship and it may have been as it was news to me. It is $50 and you can get all your pictures from the cruise (some fine print suggested that it was one photo per event...embarkation, ports of call, dinner, formal etc) and it was slightly vague about whether or not you also got a thumb drive with digital pictures on it included, some said yes, some said no. We did not take advantage of the offer but thought it was a great deal for families and about time. I think it is a smart move.

  8. When I added my newest booking (Vista) it had sailing dates well into 2017, that alternated between 6 & 8 day increments.

  9. I usually pick up a couple of rolls of $1 coins at the bank before I cruise. It covers usual tipping but the recipients enjoy the coins

This requires them going to the onboard bank, waiting in line and hopefully exchanging it for a dollar bill. They cannot use these or $2 bills in the port of calls as most foreign vendors believe them to be fake. With that said, no employee on a cruise ship will say no to money.

  10. I was actually hoping it would hang around a bit in NY as I would have liked to do a Caribbean cruise from NCY, but timing would not work with kids school schedules. Miami (or Fort Lauderdale or Port Canaveral) would be fine. I'm sure NOLA and Galveston are lovely, but logistically prohibitive from my corner of east coast Canada. And I sure this holds true for anyone who has to fly a distance.

It would spend more time in New York if New York was as profitable to Carnival as New York and New Jersey are to Norwegian and Royal Caribbean. When Carnival has to deeply discount cruises or give them away for free when compared to NCL and RCI commanding prices significantly higher, Carnival doesn't have much of a choice. They aren't in business to give away cruises.

  11. I don't mind the change because having a bottle of water around is always nice. And as far as a "free" drink, for what we are paying for the cruise, that drink was far from free, lol. In my opinion, it just seems like a way for Carnival to save some bucks.

I didn't realize people still paid to sail Carnival. These free cruise offers simply don't stop. :X

It isn't so much as the cutback itself but the way this particular cutback was executed.

  12. As a fellow Brit, do not even bother with Carnival UK, they are hopeless and don't have any authority to do anything.

Go straight to the contact that Pixelate gave you. Whoever has taken over from Gerry Cahil contact them and mark it complaint.

I had no end of trouble with Carnival UK over a price drop that I should have been entitled to a few years ago. In the end I wrote to the CEO in Miami which was picked up and after explaining about my contract being with Carnival US and not Carnival UK I got the price drop. Carnival UK still tried to get out of it, even when I sent them the email from Miami, so Miami had to phone them to sort it out. I also got some OBC as an apology too. Now contracts issued by Carnival UK are just UK contracts.

I am not sure if you are the same person who is on a Disney website for Brits, but they too have been upgraded from a Havana inside to balcony cabins.

Personally I agree with others you have not been given an upgrade for what you wanted, access to the Havana area and your hammock. Although personally I would be thrilled with 2 ocean suites. There are lots of great areas on the ship, especially the water park for the kids and Senerity if your kids are in the clubs.

Ask them for an upgrade to the Captains suit instead:D you never know you might get lucky, check if it holds 5.

Gerry Cahill still has no replacement for the CEO position. Christine Duffy will be replacing his position as President beginning next month. For now, Vicky Rey is the highest person at Carnival Cruise Line that can assist. If you want to escalate it further, Arnold Donald (CEO of Carnival Corporation - the parent company) is very responsive at adonald@carnival.com. I'd sooner have Vicky Rey deal with this, if it were me.

  13. If they went with "Message in a Bottle," a message would be sent to the viewers that they could throw a glass bottle off the ship.

This is similar to the many members here who believed more than one person can go down a Carnival slide at the same time (prior to Carnival Vista's announcement) because of the commercial.
