Thank you for sharing your experiences and the great photos! We sail on The Explorer Feb 3 - can’t wait!!!

Glad you like them! We bought some of our other gear from Mountain Wearhouse. Looks to be good quality. They often have a ‘free shipping’ deal going. I am hoping some of this stuff will fit my PA daughter/granddaughter since I do not need 2 pairs of long underwear for FL!!

I’m quite pleased with them. Hope they work. Maybe I’ll go to the beach and try them out 😆

We ended up buying boots because we found the perfect pair for so much less that even if we leave them behind it was worth it. I’ll see if I can find the link. It also gave us the opportunity to exchange if they didn’t fit.

Question on the the waterproof pants - which is better waterproof over pants worn over regular clothes or the insulated type with just a base layer? I live in FL and have forgotten my New England roots🤪

Thanks for the great info. DH and I are on the May 22 sailing. Also curious as to what you did on day 2. Where in CT? I lived in Madison and still have family nearby.

Heat doesn't bother us too much - we live in Florida and our traveling companions are from Texas!! Well hope for high water!

After over a year of waiting (and paying!) it's almost here - we are packing now for our Sunday departure to Amsterdam, where we will tour for week on our own before embarking on our first river cruise, Vantage's 26 day Grand European cruise from the Rhine Valley to Bucharest. There is no way I can keep track of 26 days of sightseeing, not to mention all the optional excursions we signed up for, so we'll be taking it all in one day at a time. Excited!
This may be a one-and-done for us, giving the extensiveness of this cruise (8 countries) and the cost (), but we can't wait to experience it all. We've been on a short river cruise in China, so we are aware of the size differences between ocean liners and river boats, and I'm so happy to leave the tuxes and evening dresses at home!
Any last minute tips on enhancing this experience from those of you seasoned river cruisers are welcome! :)
We are taking this cruise in reverse order in July. Look forward to your comments. Have a great voyage!

That is an interesting alternative. Thanks.

We are doing our first river cruise this summer on the River Splendor. Does anyone know if the walls of the cabins are magnetic like on the cruise ships?

We arrived in Rome by air Tuesday. The weather has been perfect. Looking forward to seeing everyone on board tomorrow!:)

Has anyone been able to find the position of the Star? We have been unable to find the position for 2 days now and we can see that it is booked for tonight for the Canal.
She went through the canal yesterday. Via the ship's bridge webcam. It was pretty cool to see her in the locks.
