We are on Holland America's Noordam, and had hoped a bear viewing tour would be offered on Kodiak. The cruise line had none. We contacted several local tour operators in advance, and they had nothing that matched our in-port period.  One of them told us the only bears were on the other side of the island and could not be reached in the time we had in port.  Fortunately we visited the Kodiak Wildlife Center, which had a list of taxis and told us the bears were all over the island.  We found Joseph with Kodiak Alaska Taxi (907-512-9080 direct to Joseph), and he quickly took us out to where the bears were feeding on plentiful salmon, six miles from the center of town.  For about $40 plus tip including returning to the ship, this was the dream excursion we had hoped for!  We highly recommend it!

Thank you for this, we are on the Holland Westerdam in May and are going to see them. I will definitely contact him.

I was there May 19 and there is no town but you walk outside the gate where you show your sign and sail card and there were stalls on both sides of the road and the bar, maybe fifty yards long.  I am going back in 3 weeks and will go back. I talked to the locals who checked your sign and sail card and I could take my bottle beer back in and they were most friendly and the shops looked nice altho I was only interested in a Kalik.  Enjoy your stay .

Was anyone around to take you on an island tour?

The ship is currently in Europe, was doing South America prior.

That is most likely why there is no current info.

She returns to the US, and resumes service from Port Canaveral Nov 16, 2023.

We will be on the Nov 16 cruise.

We too are on the 11/16 sailing but only for 4 days.... Breaking in our 3 yr old grandson to cruising!!!!

That's long enough for a first time 3 year old!!

  4. We have done Princess and Holland. We leave this weekend on Cunard.

So far.... No real difference in cruise lines. The weather on the other hand completely different. Both previous cruises were second week of September. The first one was warm the second cold and rainy.

Let's see was happens next week!!

  5. Bermudabound2014,

Thank you so much for your review. Hopefully you have encouraged everyone to love my homeport of Tampa as much as we do. Yes we do have fog and when we do it is HEAVY.

Many don't like our 2 hour, 15 minute sailaway but we love it.

And thank you for all of the info about "Connie", she will be our first Celebrity ship when we board her on Good Friday.

If we love her as much as our other Tampa ships I am sure we will be Beck again.

It is my understanding that Magdalena Island has a high chance of being canceled due to weather conditions.

Port Stanley ... whether the ship can call here is very much weather dependent since this is a tender port.  Assuming the ship is able to do so ... I am not familiar with the Newan's Station excursion, but if you can book Patrick's Volunteer Point tour (not ship's tour) you will get to see King Penguins.  Google Patrick Volunteer Point for contact info.  For a shorter tour, Gypsy Cove might be an option.

    Patrick is sold out

Yes, Seascape is a MSC for Me high technology vessel.

We will be on the inaugural run from Italy to NYC as well.

Note, the 07DEC event in NYC

We are on the full inaugural also.

  8. This was an encore cruise for us having dive the exact itinerary on the exact ship in 2019. It was a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT cruise from 2019. We had beautiful weather then. We didn't purchase internet because back then we got it free due to status and didn't really get it. There is just no connection that far north.

As for the Greenland ports they are unique and the people are pleasant. Passengers just need to do a bit of research prior to booking to know what to expect.

I will say it was the worst weather of any cruise we have been on
