  1. My husband and I were on Harvest Caye once before. We loved it. It all depends on if you want to see the real Belize or just have a relaxing day by a huge pool. Since we are going to Belize City I would suggest that you take a tour and see the real Belize there. Be advised... it is a little rough. I would not take my grandkids on a tour there. However, that being said, many people prefer the natural Belize opposed to Harvest Caye. At Harvest Caye you will have to open you wallet if you want to eat or drink. It is not included. We ate at Landshark for lunch and it was great. We went upstairs to eat and the views were incredible. Price wasn't too bad. Sometimes I just like to eat off the boat, because I get tired of eating on the boat. However, I understand that there are many incredible places to eat on the Breakaway. The drinks are high, but no higher than you pay on the boat. Plenty of beach chairs by the pool and on the beach. Beautiful beach. Of course there are excursions you can purchase. My husband and my grandson are going to do the zip line. I think you would really enjoy just staying in the port if you want a relaxing day. It is simply beautiful and they keep it spotless. Just remember that it is a long walk down the boardwalk to the beach. But we did it rather quickly and we are in our 60s.

  2. WE will be there in March also. We will be on the Carnival Triumph and they offered a beach day with food (only for Carnival cruisers) that looked really nice. We are traveling with two of our grandchildren (ages 6 and 12). We booked this tour. I don't feel it is very safe to go into town on your own. Really not a lot to do in Progreso. We have been there without kids and went into the town, but we wouldn't take the kids in there.

  3. We are going to Playa Mia with our two grandkids in March. We will be on the Carnival Triumph and they don't have an excursion going there so we had to book on our own. Our kids are 6 and 12. Hope they like it. We are taking a taxi there so we will just make sure we get a taxi back in plenty of time.

  4. We were at Nachi Cocum on October 14th. My husband and two grandsons snorkeled right from the beach and saw amazing fish as well as stingrays on the bottom. They snorkeled to the end of the pier to see all of this. Nothing really close to the beach. They had a great time. My youngest grandson was a little apprehensive; however, once out there he felt very comfortable. He knew he could swim right back up to the beach. They spent well over an hour out there. They even loved jumping off the end of the pier; however, you probably wouldn't want to do that.

  5. Thanks for that great review. The pictures were outstanding - great photographer. We are leaving out of New Orleans on the Dream on October

9th. Can not wait... especially after reading your review. Sounds like you probably have a great time wherever you go and whoever you are with. Hoping we can request Zubin, Edgar, and Bernie on our cruise. Have a great time on your Alaskan cruise. We have done the Alaskan cruise three times and all three were great. Beautiful scenery. For sure you will be able to get great pictures. Maybe one day our paths will cross as we are both cruising fanatics.

I am sure you must be back home by now. Hope you had a great cruise. We are leaving on October 9th on this same cruise. Can you give us any idea as to what to expect. The highlights... the lowlights. What did you do in each port? There will be seven of us in our group. We are staying in New Orleans for two days prior to leaving. Any info will be appreciated.

  7. GLORIALAGOS

I was exactly the same way. I am a Caribbean cruiser... love the beaches and warm weather. My husband had to talk forever to get me to go on an Alaskan cruise with him. Well... I loved it!!!! We leave this weekend for our third Alaskan Cruise This time we are doing it a little different. We usually fly into Anchorage and take the train to Whittier to board the ship; then fly back home out of Vancouver. This time we are flying to Seattle and taking the ship out from there; returning to Seattle the next weekend. We are going to Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway and Victoria, B.C. (I think we have to have our passports in Victoria; however, we are only there from 7:00 P.M. to Midnight. I know a lot of people won't event get off the boat in Victoria.) Alaska is beautiful... most beautiful scenery I have ever seen. And the people are so nice. Would highly recommend you trying it. You will love it. And it is not that cold. In fact, the two previous times we have gone in the more southern ports we were in our shorts. We have always gone the first or second week in June and the weather has been perfect. In Ketchikan you can just walk through town... so much to see. In Skagway, take the train tour. And in Juneau you have to go out on a whale tour. We saw so many whales!! It was amazing. Try it at least once. Having said all that, I understand that September is not the best time to go. Evidently the bugs are out then, which most say are very annoying.

  8. We are going on our Alaskan cruise week after next. We are leaving out of Seattle and sailing past the San Juan Islands. I understand that this is a great place to see whales. Thinking about having room service for dinner the first evening when we depart so that I can stay on the balcony and watch for whales. Anyone had a good experience going past the islands in the way of seeing whales?? Love to year about your experience.

  9. PUTTERDUDE

See that you cruise a lot. Maybe someday our paths will cross. We usually cruise at least once a year... sometimes twice. This year is twice. We went out of New Orleans on Royal Caribbean in March and then we will do Alaska week after next. We have booked a cruise out of Port Canaveral on the Carnival Sunshine for March 2016. Always love cruising. Hate to fly, but love cruising. That is why we go out of New Orleans a lot. We can drive there. But we have done most all the ports that they offer from cruise ships going out of New Orleans. So I guess if I want to see new ports (and I do) I will have to fly. We have gone out of Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and Port Canaveral before. I am trying my best to venture out a little more and see new places and meet new people.

  10. We leave on the 7th of June out of Seattle. We hit, Ketchikan, Tracy Arm, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria. Really excited!!! Been twice before and each time we went out of Whittier and ended up in Vancouver. The process of getting through the Airport in Vancouver is horrible. So many check points to go through. Don't think I would want to go back through Vancouver again. So glad to see someone make a comment about going past San Juan Islands out of Seattle. Really looking forward to that. We are going to eat our dinner on the balcony just so we don't miss anything going past the Islands.
