Never have I ever had my 100 dollar OBC for my shares change what my free at sea offer was, OR the OBC I get from my travel agent.  As a mater of fact, all that is locked in when you book, you do the Shareholder form AFTER you have booked, and everything else is locked in.  It requires your booking number.  It also does not change your insider latitude points (if they are doubled), in case anyone was wondering.....

Well thanks for the information.  I did a goggle search and that is what I found but I will fill out the paperwork for it and see.

  2. I purchased 160 shares at between $8-$10 on the whim that if it gets even close to where it was I am going to get a great cruise out of it.  I called yesterday and booked a cruise for Sept 2022 as hope things are looking more normal by then.  They have some great offers going right now and the individual I talked to said bookings were really picking up for them.

Looking back to the start of this thread in March 2020 I get a chuckle out of what some people thought they knew.  Shows it all is really guessing and luck and with something like this that there is no past experience to look back on.  Buying the stock was like taking the money and going into a casino, if you can't afford to lose it don't buy.  If your going to stress about it, don't buy.  Sometimes the bigger the potential rewards the bigger this risk.  And the risk is a lot easier to take if the risk isn't catastrophic to you.

Oh and for those that think owning 100 shares of NCL will get you some on board credit, there is one small thing you may not know.  If you take that on board credit you do not qualify for their at sea free offers which means take the credit and pay much more for those offers.  I am pretty sure I just read that since I was looking into booking my cruise.

  3. Thanks for the reply, that makes sense. I remember when they had the speciality dining before the free at sea offers where you paid so much for the speciality dining and then if you wanted the lobster there was an add on cost. Seems they could offer something like that again to still have it. Its not a deal breaker or anything but just something the wife really enjoyed.

  4. Hey thanks for the snippy reply, makes me wonder about some people. Was just wondering if they had changed it yet. Since you did not answer the question I guess you just felt the need for a curt reply. Feel better now?

  5. I heard they have taken the lobster off of all the menus in the specialty dining but have also read that it depends on the ship. Has anyone taken the Spirit cruise very recently that would have any information. Would really bum me out if they did and make me wonder if I should look at other cruise lines.

  6. No extra a charge for a 2nd entree or anything else. Was just on it 1/31 and order the Lobster and a filet to go with it. No Charge. The best Lobster hands down on the ship is in the French restaurant. Matter of fact it was so good we used 2 of our 4 nights there. The steak house lobster was good but not even close to the French. Lobster in the Italian wasn't bad. Creme Brulee in the French was also the best. Enjoy

  7. Depends what you enjoy looking at or want to see. I would completely skip the ship tours and do the Vatican, St Peters, and an evening dinner and stroll to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps. And Sunday do the Forum area and see many of the beautiful and historic churches in that area. If you want more information let me know.

  8. Sorry to butt in but thought I would just give a comment. First I have never sailed with Viking but have been looking into them for next spring so thought I would take a look at the forums. Noticed this one on Rome and having been there on several land trips might be of help. From what I have seen your ship will be in Rome for the night. If that is the case and you do not stay in Rome for an evening walk and dinner at a local spot you are really missing something special. Have always found Rome to be a easy town to feel safe in and is easy to get around. You can easily catch a train back to the port a few blocks from the Vatican. The sites of Rome in the evening are spectacular. If you visit the Vatican museum I can tell you how to go from the Sistine Chapel right to the inside of St Peters without having to go back out and around. You must see both. Just thought I would let you know, if you want any information let me know and will try to help.

  9. So I am not interested in getting wi-fi on the ship but there are occasions I would like to check in to make sure things are fine at home. When the ship is in the various ports are there any places that offer wi-fi that you can tap into for short periods of time?

  10. Yes NCL does like to do the "for a fee" where some cruise lines might not but also look at the cost upfront. For a similar cruise $500 more up front might end up being more then the total fee's. And some NCL ships have better entertainment then others.

  11. Thanks for the replys. Sometimes I tend to overthink things. I was thinking the front looked larger with larger balcony but could wrap my mind around why the ones in the back would be more expensive then. Settled on 9636 since we couldn't get one with the wrap around deck. I enjoy just hanging out on the balcony sometimes drinking a cold beer watching the world go by. Of course since I have the beverage package it could put a little crimp into that. I use to just get a bucket of beer, head to the room and relax. With the BP you can't get buckets so it will be getting one and going back, paying for them out of the mini bar and just paying for a bucket anyways. No going to get so many that it will be that costly compared to everything else but hate the thought of paying for things twice. Are the prices in the mini bar different then at the bars?

As far as the butler would it be out of lined if in the evening I asked him if he could get a desert from one the speciality restaurants for us and put it in the fridge? I can see getting breakfast in the mornings but for dinner I would just as soon get out as eat in the room. Will they let us know what times we can get off the ship and where to go?

    Thanks for the help.

  12. Have been looking at a cruise on the Star and I see they have suites on the very front of ship or the very back. Trying to figure out the advantages or disadvantages of either of them and wondering why the ones in the back are higher price. Also wondering about the Butler and concierge service. Not sure what I should be able to ask them to do or expect from them. Is it something that I will only get what I ask for or do they offer to do things. I don't like to be demanding of people but a few extra perks would be nice. Don't want to high jack this thread about tipping them only want know the things they should be doing so I know the level of service I was getting to base the tip on. Thanks
