Samuel is taking great care of me in the CL

He’s from Trinidad so I’m working on insider  suggestions.IMG_1638.thumb.jpeg.c707a49336d55213b0bb68cc6fa0988c.jpeg

Hi SteelCity, great info and we are enjoying following your adventures. Is this the Crown Lounge (formerly the Diamond Lounge) or the Suite Lounge? We will be boarding on Saturday 1/27 and are staying in a GS. Can you show pics of the suite lounge? I'm guessing it is the same as the Serenade and has its own bar.

Also, what cabin are you in?

    Thanks!

Sorry for the delay folks. Between work and gearing up for our next cruise  this weekend (it's the last one until fall), and despite some browbeating from Mrs. Winks about it, I haven't been able to work on the next installment.  Fear not.  Follow, and you'll get an alert when it posts... in the next day or two.

    Thanks!

Now that you are back from our latest  cruise....please finish this review!!!!

    Morning.

We won our Royal Up bid for the Owner's Suite on Explorer (🥰) - when I google search for perks and such, I receive different messages - probably because of the design of all the ships.  Please share with me all the fun details of the room and the perks!  2 adults and 2 teens - this is a do over cruise since we got Covid last time 🙃

I just placed a Royal Up bid for a cruise in Feb. Do you mind sharing which sailing you are on? I was wondering approximately when I would find out if my bid was accepted. TIA!

On the Caribbean (?) That would be E730 & 731.

Dolphin deck has a really huge balcony in the same location, but they're not covered and have a handicap bathroom (altho' not classified as a HC cabin).

We were in D736 and it was a covered balcony. I posted pics in a separate post reply. Also this was not a handicap/accessible room. It is a standard Vista Suite. 😁

Thanks!  We did Club Class one time and we preferred traditional dining room.  We liked having the same waiter/assistant waiter and getting to know them.  They also knew us and what we liked and had it ready!:classic_biggrin:  Do you have any pictures of your suite and the balcony?  We are looking for a larger balcony covered aft.  Mini suite or suite.  Cheers!

Sure thing. We were on Dophin D736 and the balcony was indeed covered. It was delightful! We love a good aft balcony!

I recall from the back pool you can avoid the buffet and the need to wash just to pass through by taking the steps next to the pool and go down a deck and then head along the hallway.

Yes, we used that route a few times but it became a bit arduous after a while. Our cabin was on deck 9 aft facing and we had to walk the hallway to take the stairs or the elevators up to 14 (?) then, walk the hallway back to the aft pool to take the hallway to avoid the buffet. Anyway, you get the idea. 😁

We mostly go to the right & after lunch head right back.

I enjoy the more secluded beach on the right side. The bbq lunch didn't look very appetizing. We headed back to the ship, had a great lunch and then I spent the afternoon at the pool, which was delightfully lacking crowds! Like DH said, it was a lovely morning and a better afternoon. But even without the whistles and bells and water slides, I do enjoy Princess Cay. Although I think younger families might find it a bit boring. Just my #2cents.

  8. Thank you my DH @WinksCruises for another informative and fun review. For me it is a joy to relive our shenanigans through your stories! It always saddens me when your reviews are over but, at the same time, I am happy to get my husband back. It takes a ton of time and effort to provide these reviews and I, for one, am truly grateful. I love going back and reading your reviews from our previous sailings. And for my fellow cruisers out there check out the links in Winkscruises signature to read all about them!

So now the bad news, my sweet DL...we have two more cruises book for later this year (including the beautiful Sky Princess)!! I probably should have told you in person but this way is so much easier. Rest up because you are going to need it!!

To find out more about our upcoming adventures follow us on insta @winkscruises and @mrswinkscruises

    Bye for now!

Mrs. Winks may have to chime in to correct me, but I believe we HAD TO book the Cabo pirate ship excursion through Princess. With several ships in port that day, the pirate company made it cruise-ship-reservations-only - we tried looking for it as an independent excursion and our port date was blacked out.

Winks is correct. I always try to avoid the ship sponsored excursions at all costs. Sadly, with all the ships in port, including Carnival Panorama, the Pirate Ship company was not taking any independent bookings. So I figured why not? As much as it pains me to say, Winks was right on this one! Never again!!! It was a horrible experience and Winks is being kind in his review.

Love L101 - stayed in that stateroom on the Royal as well as the L103 next door.  Both fantastic, but L101 and L102's balconies are wider due to there being a fire locker between the 2 rooms that the balconies extend in front of. 😎

I really enjoyed cabin L101. The balcony was fantastic, the room had plenty of storage and there was just enough room to change your mind if you needed to! Seriously, I love finding cabins with unique features, like a giant balcony!! And the price was too good to pass up.

    Thanks for your review.

I have never heard of an aft facing Family  Suite on Royal Class ships or any Family Suite on Royal Class ships for that matter.

I am only familiar with the Family Suites on Grand Class ships.
Can you give me some info on these please.

    TIA

Actually, Winks got the room category wrong. We were in the corner aft facing Penthouse Suite. I loved the balcony (soot and all) but the room def had a very choppy feel. Mainly because it is an awkward corner design. I hope that helps!

     Hey now.

Mrs Winks need to ditch Mr Winks and take her own cruise.  ha ha ha.  Odyssey will be a great ship trust me.  just book it

From your lips to @WinksCruises ears! I totally see an Odyssey cruise in our future. Perhaps #33 or 34? BTW, we just booked #31 today so I guess retirement is just a pipe dream for my DH!

Have you and Mrs. Winks tried HAL yet?

Hey Jdpapillion. We have not tried HAL but have sailed on Princess, Celebrity and RCCL with the most loyalty points on RCCL. I have been forbidden by the boss (at least I let him think he is the boss) to book anything other than RCCL as he is a loyalty points snob. In fact he spent one entire weekend waterboarding me and chanting "we must stay Loyal to Royal!!" Although the torture was not nearly as offensive as some of his reviews, I eventually acquiesced so I could go back to watching my Bravo "Housewives" shows. Our next adventure will be on Freedom in October. It is a Halloween cruise and should be a howling good time!! I'm sure there will be a scary review to follow. Can't wait to see what I will be up to this time!!

You are hysterical...I laughed so hard so many times. Does Mrs. Winks think you are funny too? Your Honduras and Bahamas posts were too funny. Don’t worry...there is always another Nassau stop in all of our futures...you’ll have that shot at getting stabbed again one day. Lol

We are trying out Allure for the first time in August...no kid soup on the menu for me. Bleh!

First of all, try living with him. Not so hysterical.

Second, why are you not heeding Winks'  warning of his big ship experience? I look forward to your take. Winks may embellish at times but he truly did capture our reality of this voyage. Regardless of his unabashed review, I hope you enjoy the Allure as much as I did.

  15. My DH certainly has a knack for story telling! However, lest you think “Mama Bear” is real I can assure you that she and her cubs do exist and are portrayed accurately. Winks had a knack for running into them during our voyage and always had a interesting story to tell after the encounter. :-)

Since Winks was not on the Mushing excursion I thought I would share my feelings. The Brads and I were super excited for this adventure and we were not disappointed. The sled ride was approximately 2 miles through the rain forest, on a “summer sled”. The dogs were very responsive to their musher and they ran super fast on command. Because of the extreme effort from the team of dogs the musher stopped the sled every quarter of a mile or so to rest the dogs. Even at a stop the panting dogs were anxious to get on with the “race”. They seemed the happiest while they were in motion. As my DH mentioned, they were born and bred for the racing life. After the ride we got to pet the team and take some pics. The dogs were very friendly and they really love their Musher. The best part was back at Musher Camp when we got to hold and play with the puppies.

I’m glad I had an opportunity to experience this Alaskan sport but I doubt I would do it again. I walked away with a better understanding of what my DH’s concerns regarding the entire sport as he outlined in his review.

Like everyone else I am excited to see what the next installment has to offer!
