  1. Thanks for some very useful responses. I think you have cemented my opinion that it would be a shame to miss such a beautiful port, especially as I have never been to Turkey. I think if it was just me I wouldn't have given it a second thought but because we have our 3 year old girl with us I wanted to put it out there to get some other opinions, I am aware of the travel advice, its just good to hear other people's thoughts sometimes. SO thank you all very much! :)

Out of curiosity, texancruzer I am interested to know why you wouldn't revisit Sharm?

  2. Is anyone worried about Turkish ports of call on their cruises? Just given the Tunisian events and recent unrest in Turkey should there be a cause for concern? Stopping in Kusadasi at the end of August and wondering if I should be concerned as Kusadasi and Ephesus are such big tourist areas and possible target. A couple of people have told me I should stay on the ship on that day! Would be interested to hear peoples opinions. I think it is soon after the Tunisia tragedy, people are still very wary. I have a holiday booked to Sharm El Sheikh next January and am getting a lot of the same opinions when I tell people!

  3. Thanks Hattie I will do! I love hearing first hand experiences - it really helps! Also if anyone has the programmes from the Kids Zone on the QV please share! I saw one on another thread yesterday from QM2 and it was great to see to get an idea. Also any photos of the Play Zone - they seem to be quite scarce!

  4. Thanks for the photo! It looks lovely, I do love to dine outside when on vacation! Living in Ireland it is not something one can do very often! :) I hope they have that option on our cruise. I presume they do not release the schedule of the Alternative Dining until you are on the ship?

  5. Thanks Hattie! I have actually read that thread and it was useful but more regarding older children and QM2. I have no worries regarding the children's club as it looks great, its more the ship in general I am worried about! Thanks though :)

  6. Thanks - that is reassuring! I was beginning to get a bit apprehensive as to how we would be treated! I am not one of these parents who sits back while their children misbehaves (I would be too embarrassed!) so I hope people wont mind her. On holidays she often stays up late with us so I hope we wont be getting disapproving looks! Thanks for the reassurance :)

  7. I heard on one of these forums that QV introduced Alfresco Dining as part of the evening alternative dining during the summer months. I haven't heard anything about it since and would love to know if anyone did it and what they thought of it?

  8. I am on a cruise at the end of August on the QV with my partner and our three year old girl. From participation on the Cunard Facebook pages and these forums, I get the impression that children might not be very well tolerated. I have heard opinions about how children shouldn't be at second sitting in the Britannia etc. Would love to hear from people who have experienced Cunard and their thoughts about children aboard. Thanks!

  9. Some good tips! Will try and bring one of those bags with me instead. Must check out that other wine option too..

Is that Coop much of a walk from the cruise terminal? I am coming from the direction of St Marks square (staying in Hotel Saturnia).

  10. Thanks for your reply. Yes according to Cruise TT, QV doesn't leave until 8pm that evening. I'm sure I will be very excited to get on the ship by then but good to know we will have a few hours in the morning anyway!

  11. Is that the normal time for embarking? I am going on a cruise from Venice on the 22nd Aug but would love to have an idea of time so i can plan an itinerary for Venice in the morning if we have time. We are flying in day before :)

  12. Has anyone tried Tamam while in Rhodes? Trying to plan out my itinerary while there and came across this place - some great reviews on Trip Advisor. I hope they do tables for lunch too as it is apparently very hard to get a table.

Also would you spend the day strolling around Rhodes? Or is there a beach nearby?

  13. A bit off topic as it isn't a Cunard cruise but cant help thinking of the horror in Tunisia today that apparently tourists from a European cruise ship have been involved in. Hope they are all ok - so awful to think about! MSC Splendida and Costa Fascinosa in port today so not sure which one has been involved.. Thoughts are with them..
