  1. Sounds great. Last time we came into honkers with seabourn we disembarked at ocean terminal. So with out thinking when we booked the next cruise we thought great marco polo hotel is right there very convenient for boarding got a super deal for a couple of nights to discover they now leave from kai tak. Having said that its no hardship as its nice to stay right on the harbour, we love hong kong. Cant wait.

  2. And this was in another email:

The "Ventures by Seabourn" program is set to debut this summer on a trio of Northern Europe voyages aboard the Seabourn Quest.

The optional excursions will launch from the ship's fold-out marina and will be guided by experienced expedition teams comprised of scientists, scholars and naturalists. During the excursions, guests will pass through various waterways and have access to rare sights aboard inflatable Zodiac boats and paddle-equipped kayaks.

"We are always looking for ways to enhance the cruise experience by getting guests up close to the natural and cultural wonders at Seabourn destinations around the globe," said Seabourn's senior vice president of marketing and sales John Delaney in a statement.

"Combined with our onboard enrichment program that is filled with local, cultural content, Ventures by Seabourn will deliver extensive, authentic destination experiences that our guests are seeking," added Delaney.

Dr. Colleen Batey, Kara Weller, Luciano Bernacchi, Matt J. Dolan and Robin West are among the tour leaders who will feature on the upcoming Seabourn ventures.

The excursions will be available on two 14-Day Majestic Fjords and North Cape cruises departing on June 13 and July 11 as well as a 24-Day Route of the Vikings voyage, which is scheduled to depart on Aug. 8.

All three cruises will depart from Copenhagen, Denmark.

The cruise line said it plans to expand the Ventures by Seabourn program fleetwide over time, and will look to add kayaking tours to select Antarctica sailings.

  3. Just read this in an email I subscribe to:

Seabourn Launches Excursion Program Using Fold-Out Marinas

    on 12 May 2015.

Seabourn is launching Ventures by Seabourn, a new series of Zodiac and kayak shore excursions.

The program will begin this summer on three Northern Europe voyages aboard the Seabourn Quest, and will feature excursions launching directly from the ship's fold-out watersports marina.

"We are always looking for ways to enhance the cruise experience by getting guests up close to the natural and cultural wonders at Seabourn destinations around the globe," shares John Delaney, senior vice president of marketing and sales. "Combined with our onboard enrichment program that is filled with local, cultural content, Ventures by Seabourn will deliver extensive, authentic destination experiences that our guests are seeking."

Tour leaders include: Dr. Colleen Batey, a senior lecturer in archaeology at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, who has traveled extensively through Scandinavia and its surrounding areas; Kara Weller, whose research ranges from whales in the Bering Sea to mouflan sheep in Eastern Europe, and has traveled over 130 times to Antarctica; Luciano Bernacchi, whose travels to many destinations and wilderness areas around the world have led to a wealth of experience in adventure travel and ecotourism; Matt J. Dolan, who kayaked the entire Inside Passage from Seattle to Muir Glacier in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska - a journey that encompassed more than 1,300 miles and a feat that few have accomplished; Robin West, Seabourn's Manager of Expedition Operations & Planning, who led the line's first two Antarctica programs and has tremendous experience in the operations of the expedition business.

Available in select ports, Ventures by Seabourn will lead guests through picturesque waterways and fjords, secluded inlets and to scenic islands via sturdy, stable Zodiac inflatable boats or paddling in double sea kayaks launched from the unique fold-out water sports marina onboard all Seabourn vessels. Seabourn plans to expand Ventures by Seabourn fleetwide over time, including adding kayaking tours to the Antarctica sailings.

The first wave of Ventures by Seabourn will be offered on three Seabourn Quest voyages through the summer of 2015, including:

    • 14-Day Majestic Fjords and North Cape - Two voyages departing June 13 and July 11 from Copenhagen, Denmark. Ventures by Seabourn will offer sea-level exploration and shore excursions at several destinations including the fjord landscapes of the Lyse area around Stavanger by Zodiac; the Lofoten Islands by Zodiac; Nordfjord of Olden, Norway, by kayak; a zodiac tour of the Storstappen Islands and Nordkapp and a hike to Nordkapp, and more.

    • 24-Day Route of the Vikings - Departing August 8 from Copenhagen, Denmark, and traveling to Scotland, Iceland, Greenland, Newfoundland and Quebec, Canada, en route to Montreal. Ventures by Seabourn will offer excursions at several destinations along the way, including a Zodiac exploration of Ísafjörður, Iceland; a kayak experience to icebergs and shore birds in and around Qaqortoq, Greenland; a naturalist-led Zodiac exploration of icebergs, plants and wrecks amid the islands surrounding Paamiut, Greenland; and more.

And the decor reminds me of an Asian restaurant going for "over the top" elegance - it seems dated to me rather than sophisticated.

We have always enjoyed restaurant 2, but we only get to sail with Seabourn once a year, still chained to my corporate life for a while yet. But I can understand if you sail frequently with Seabourn it may get tiresome of the same thing over and over. I will not be onboard Seabourn until April 2016 and am looking forward to it very much. Even if it is still Restaurant 2 I know that it will be great quality food and I actually like the décor. Happy sailing

  5. I can understand their concern as there is so much to see in Hong Kong, I have been there many times and its a great city, I am more excited that perhaps it will be dusk and more lights of the city will be on and that will make for a great sail away and stunning photos to take. We are looking forward to this itinerary even though we have already been to some of the destinations, we love our time aboard Seabourn ships.

  6. FYI if anyone is sailing on this cruise next april I just received this from my agent, better that they move the time forward rather than back. Although it is a long way off just thought I would share. Cheers

In the interest of enhancing our guests' experiences, we have adjusted the

departure time from Hong Kong, China during your upcoming voyage from 4 PM

until 6 PM local time April 03, 2016. The attached revised itinerary

reflects these changes. Kindly adjust any personal plans accordingly.

We look forward to welcoming you on board.

  7. I have sailed that route on one of the small ships the legend, it was february we dodged a cyclone near darwin but were fine. The places in indonesia they visit are not that great but the waters around the islands of indonesia are very picturesque. Borobodur was certainly worrth a visit as people have said with the police escort with sirens blaring, its the only way you would get there and back in time before the ship was due to sail. Komodo dragons, great big ugly scarey beasties. Unfortunately they make you walk quite a long way along a jungle track which was slippery and hilly and not for anyone with health issues or walking difficulties. After seeing them you pop out the otherside with about 400 metres walk and you are back on the beach ready to get back on the tender. Glad i did it but would not repeat. Guest lecturer was Dr Lawrence Blair complete with eye patch (quite handsome) and very knowledgeable about the indonesian archipelago. Would i do this again on the new ship? Absolutely if the price was right to experience it. Close to home for me and would not hesitate to try what seabourn has to offer on a ship this size. Oh by the way it was a little sad that a lot of people thought that when we came down through the barrier reef that we would be stopping so they could get off and snorkel!! No stopping in that part of the world with a pilot on board to guide you through until you get to some of the islands further down but that was not our itinerary that time.
