  1. I had a pair of flip flop sandals and was told they were no good. I don't know if it was a scam to get me to rent a pair of shoes from a local or not. Two or three fellows in the parking lot will rent clogs for $3 a pair. After hiking through the woods i would recommend a good shoe/ sandal the trail with the rocks can be difficult. Also pack a couple of zip lock bags for anything you need to keep dry. You didn't ask but the trip was fun and I am glad we did it.

  2. A quick addendum to my earlier post. I think Key West has three different Trolley/HOHO services. You might give some thought to signing up for Key West area groupons. It has been 3 or 4 years since I went to Key West but I purchased my tickets in this manner. Also they all have a website to compare prices and pre-purchase tickets.

  3. You will have no problem walking around in Key West. Duval Street is very close to the cruise terminal and has all the usual tourist activities. The Old Town Trolley operates in KW and is a decent way to see the town. In Nassau there is a beach and business district within walking distance to the pier. Be careful not to venture to far off the main street or away from the group. The U.S. State Department has active warnings for Nassau due to crimes committed against tourist. In Freeport there is a tourist village and beach at the pier and cabs are easy to get if want to go on a tour. You may want to visit the port of call thread for more detailed information about what to do. Enjoy your cruise.

  4. I normally defend people who ask a question that's already been answered, but that's when they ask a question that hasn't been answered for a while...maybe a few pages back or more. But four different people answered your question just a few posts above yours. I can perfectly understand not wanting to read 114 pages, but is reading the last page too much to ask for?

Do you mean the expiration date? If so, the cards that come from AARP (also Verizon & AllState) do not have an expiration date.

Or did you mean when can you expect the cards, as in when they'll arrive? If so, see my reply to jdechter above.

+ 1 please take the time to read the prior two pages before asking a question.

Some great points. Sometimes being so close to the target you (I) lose sight of the center. Yes Newark is a good option, so is getting a hotel in NJ save ton of $$$$ but sight seeing can be a little more difficult on a tight schedule. The entire NYC metro area has a vast public transportation network, don't be afraid just ask. I am going out on a limb saying this but most NYers will be glad to help a visitor if you ask. Most of the transit system have apps that you can down load prior to your visit and preplan your trip. Also the Highline is a nice thing for visitors, it free, great vistas and an easy way to walk around manhattan.

  6. If you can fly into JFK. First of all LGA is undergoing a multi billion $$ repair project and is a mess, Second JFK has the AIR TRAIN. Air train goes from the airport to Jamaica Station for a flat fee of $5 Then you can get a subway (2.75)? or LIRR if staying near penn station. Taxi's have a flat fee into the city(manhattan) i think it may be $52.00 plus tolls. It appears that the Marriot has a few hotel choices in midtown Manhattan (yes they are very expensive) but you will save money on further travel. Whatever pier you are leaving from subtract 40 from the pier # and that is the street that the pier is on. IE.. pier 90 is on West 50th St.(12th ave & w 50th st) weather permitting it is an easy walk for two adults. If traveling with babies or old folks a taxi may be in order. As far as a Yankee red sox game if you don't have tix don't bother and DON'T wear EMENY clothes into hostile territory, although I am not one, Yankee Fans can be tuff on others. The subway from Midtown will take any where you need to go, fast, cheap, and a NY adventure. If you have time the #1 train runs on the west side of Manhattan and the last stop is south ferry where you can walk around battery park and also take a free ride on the Staten Island ferry. Great views of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island in the distance. Any other local knowledge I can provide just ask and I will try my best to give you the helpful advise.

To: Tiff 54 here is a link to the nearby River City Market Place. http://rgpt.com/property/river-city-marketplace/ It is about a mile from your hotel.

  8. Just to add to what Essiesmom said, the shopping center is called "The River City Market Place". The market place uses, Airport Center Drive, City Center Blvd addresses. It is just under a mile away from many of the hotels between I95 and the airport. I have walked to the Walmart and restaurants in about fifteen minutes. The Walmart has a liquor store/section in it. The area has many fast food and fast casual restaurants nearby. Many of the hotesl have a free airport shuttle and will provide (for a fee)a shuttle to port jax. Enjoy your cruise.

  9. The following link is for port canaveral parking

    http://www.portcanaveral.com/Cruise/Directions-Parking.

Half way down you will find a link for local hotels that offer 40% port parking. ( Yes I did see that you said you would being spending the night before at a resort.) I have just paid the port rate because it was more important to be in my car at 0810 hours than to be standing on line waiting for a shuttle. In the past i have done the off site parking and found it to be hit or miss with having an available shuttle and my car ready to go. I have a 14 hour ride home and yes that extra hour makes a difference at the end of the night. To me it has become just the cost of the trip. I am not happy about it but have come to accept it. Best of luck what ever you choose.

  10. I am a Member of AARP.

    I am logged in.

I have been trying since LAST NIGHT to find these darn cards.

Do I need points (I only have 750). I want to purchase a few $500.

Please help. I have clicked on links here, went back and cannot find ANY CCL

OR NCL cards (I could use both). Can someone PLEASE take pity on me.

    Thank you.

CCL Cards are only available on aarp rewards for good. You need acquire 1000 points per $100 value per card. If you are an aarp member you can earn double the number of points as a non member. Each card purchase will provide gift certificate for a 1000 bonus points. Good luck in you quest for cards. Their are many threads on this topic to explain the ins and outs of obtaining cards.

  11. We always park at the port. It may cost a little more but on our last cruise we were in the car and on the road at 815. No waiting on a shuttle. We always stay in a hotel that has the 40% coupon.

Would you mind sharing which hotel offers a 40% coupon for parking at the port. Thanks
