  1. We're considering booking the Legend for Spring Break and would need to drive back to Canada on the day we disembark. Canadian regulations currently require a negative PCR test for reentry into Canada. I can't find any info on the Carnival site about options for PCR testing onboard or at the port after disembarking. Is anybody aware of options that would be available to us? Not sure if a CVS in Baltimore would get results fast enough - it's about a 6 hour drive to the border.

  2. Last time we were in Freeeport was just after the hurricane and everything was still a mess.  We did a day trip to Paradise Cove, basically because it was the only place open.  Considering Pirate's Cove this time, and just wondering if anybody has been to both and could do a quick comparison for me.  I know the main differences (zipline and water toys) but am curious to hear about how the beaches, snorkelling, etc. compare between the two.

  3. Thanks nwcruiselover!

Contact the Special Needs Department and let them know about the medication and the need for it to be kept cool. Sometimes they can provide a portable mini-fridge for the cabin. If that's not available, the medication can be kept either in the medical center or at Guest Services. They handle these issues all the time and there is a solution.
  4. Does anybody know if there is a difference in price if we purchase our Atlantis waterpark bands on the day we are in port, rather than purchasing them online in advance? We are the only ship in port that day so we're not expecting it to be sold out, and if it's cheaper to buy them in person then I'd rather wait and take the risk!

  5. You should do a New Years Cruise! We are already looking to see if we can do one next year it was that much fun. I don't know if that's true or not either but that makes sense about the bee's.

I didn't notice a steel drum player onboard, only a DJ.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

We did a tour to Paradise Cove in Freeport and the bees were also an issue there. As soon as sodas or other drinks were served, the bees were all over it.

There was a steel drum player on board. He was playing on the Lido stage during embarkation and on our first day at sea. He might have disembarked in Nassau to switch ships because I don't recall seeing him after that.

  6. It looks like Carnival has 7 dry-docks planned for 2017 and 4 planned so far for 2018. Most of the dry-docks are about 2 weeks long, with the exception of the Carnival Elation and Carnival Paradise (which are about 1 month long).

    2017 Dry-Docks: Carnival Ecstasy(Jan.) , Carnival Dream(Jan.-Feb.), Carnival Sensation(Feb.), Carnival Glory(Feb.-Mar.), Carnival Breeze(April), Carnival Elation(Aug.-Sept.), and Carnival Conquest(Sept.-Oct.)

    2018 Dry-Docks (So Far): Carnival Fascination(Jan.-Feb.), Carnival Paradise(Feb.-Mar), Carnival Legend(May), and Carnival Inspiration(Nov.)

I am ready to find out what these ships will be getting, but I know it will be a while! Keep in mind this info is subject to change!

I have been doing an unofficial dry-dock schedule/information compilation on my personal cruise blog for the past 4 years and only shareinformation when it is officially released or confirmed by Carnival. If you are interested in viewing my unofficial version of the dry-dock schedule here is a link:

We just got off the Ecstasy and I'm surprised to see her going into dry dock next week. We felt she was still looking really good and not in need of an update yet. There are other ships out there that are in need of a face lift sooner!

  7. We were on the Ecstasy with you and noticed the power outage as well. I'm curious as to where your cabin was, as we didn't hear any alarms or anything from where we were (empress deck aft). My wife was having trouble sleeping that night and I just coicendintally woke up right before it happened. The only way we even noticed that it happened is the little USB night light we had turned off and we noticed that the air conditioner turned off. We never heard anybody in the hallways and after a couple minutes the power turned back on.

Don't know what happened but I bet most people slept through it.

We were deck 5 mid (but closer to the aft elevators). The alarms seemed to be coming from mid ship. Maybe they were just a Main deck thing.

  8. We were also on your cruise. Our sons probably spent some time together at camp ocean as ours is 8! The staff there were fantastic and he was always happy to go. He went to the kids dinner on Lido a few nights at 6, which allowed us to go to dinner a bit earlier and not have to wait. We only had to wait for a beeper on the final night of the cruise. I fully agree with you about the level of service not being quite there in some areas. The bar in the atrium was horrific but bar service in the theatre was better that usual for us. We never had any issues finding lounge chairs by the pool. Our steward asked us if we would prefer morning or evening service, but also usually came twice. Were you woken up by the alarms at 3:45 on the final night? I'm wondering if it was ship wide, or just our floor? We lost power in our room and the hallways all went dark for a bit.

  9. We just got off the Ecstasy and had a great cruise, but on the final night there was some commotion. At 3:45 am some alarms started going off then all power went out. Our stateroom lost power, the hallways and outside lights went dark and strobe/search lights on the outer decks turned on. Some announcements were made for different crew members to go to different parts of the ship and passengers all down our hall started coming into the halls to see what was happening. The lights were only off for a few minutes, but the alarms continued for another 10 minutes or so. This was my 15th cruise, but the first time anything like this has ever happened. Nothing was said about it the following morning. Is this a rarity or does it happen more often than we realise?

  10. You can book any of the Atlantis experiences directly through Atlantis on their website. Under "Things to Do" select "Day Visitors" then "Make a day Booking". We just booked our Waterpark tickets directly through them and have printed off our vouchers which we will trade for wristbands at the activities desk when we arrive at the resort.

  11. We did the day pass last November and I am planning to do it again this November. Mt 21 yr old daughter, her BFF and I took a taxi and got the day pass at the window when we arrived. $88ea for the water park and aquarium. It was so much fun. This time it will be myself, my mother and my daughter. By getting the pass when we arrived, we avoided the worry of not going if we were not able to dock. There were 9 ships in port that day and it was not crowded at all. (It did rain a little.)

9 ships in port? I can't even imagine what that would be like!

  12. Thanks for your replies! We are two adults and one child. We have looked into booking a room at the CS and it's coming in at about $375. Cheaper than booking through the ship, but more expensive than doing day passes I believe? If Atlantis doesn't post prices soon, we will probably go with that route.

  13. Does anybody know how far in advance Atlantis sells their day passes? We are in Nassau on Jan 2 and are trying to book day passes, but their calendar is only available until the end of 2016 right now. I asked on the chat on their website and they said "within the next 90 days"...we sail in 90 days!

  14. You might want to consider checking the Atlantis website for day passes which are sold directly through the resort. They're cheaper than booking through the ship. Only catch is if you don't dock for some reason, or weather is terrible, you won't get a refund.

  15. We dock in Nassau on January 2nd. Good thing is we are the only ship in port. Bad thing is it's holiday season. We have never done the Aquaventure before, but were considering it for this cruise (mainly because we are the only ship that day). Do you think it would be worth the money or will the resort still be packed and lines long with it being the holidays?

  16. When I booked I selected 3 adults when it's Me, Hubby and our 16 yr old daughter just to be safe :)

What's the difference between a child and adult pass? As long as the child is taller than 48", they can do all of the slides, right?

  17. We are sailing on the Dawn from Boston on Friday, and when we registered earlier today we were assigned a time to check in at the pier. We usually arrive early and have lunch on the ship, but the time we were assigned was 1:30. If we arrive around 11:00, will they hold us or allow us to check in? We did this same cruise last year and didn't have an assigned time!

  18. We cruise both, and love both! It's great having two lines to choose from, and we just go with whichever ship comes in cheaper or has the itinerary that we are looking for.

We like the flexibility of dining options on NCL, and we do your time dining on Carnival. The entertainment on NCL is also WAY better. Similar to how it used to be on Carnival many years ago.

We haven't been on the Getaway yet, but are looking at the Breakaway for spring break.

  19. We are sailing on the Carnival Fantasy on Saturday (7 days, to Bahamas and T&C), but have also just put our house on the market to sell. Our realtor would like us to be available should someone make an offer, but our Canadian cell phone company doesn't offer packages that cover cruise ships. Other than purchasing an internet package and checking emails daily, does anyone have any advice for how to remain in contact with someone at home?

  20. We will be in Nassau in a few weeks, and were really hoping to do the segway and beach tour with bahamassegwaytours.com, but now know that they lost their land lease and had to close. bestonbahamas.com has a similar looking tour, which looks like it is still available to book. Has anybody booked through them?

  21. We'll be on the Fantasy in March and want to buy some jewelery for our upcoming wedding (bridesmaid gifts, etc.).

Do you think we would be better to shop for it in Nassau or Grand Turk? We've been to Nassau many times and know the type of shops they have there, but this will be our first visit to Grand Turk. Has anybody found the prices to be better in one place over the other?
