  1. Thanks! Not in a huge hurry to make the jump into a drink package, but will consider it more if it drops. We're right on the fence as to it being worthwhile for us, but it is very nice to not have to think about it every time we order a drink. We've had it on 2 of our cruises and did enjoy it.

  2. Haven't been on here in a while, in fact since my last cruise in April. I can't, for the life of me, remember how to add my cruises to my signature. I have a new one booked for next year that I would like to add. Any help would be appreciated!

  3. We are booked on Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas for next year, leaving on Mother's Day. We've been watching drink package pricing. It has been showing as 40% off, total $50 plus 18%, and 20% off, total $50 plus 18%. I realize the full price fluctuates, but was wondering if the final price is always $50 (until boarding), or if it ever goes below that price?

  4. Bottled water is not free on NCL or any mass market cruise line. The water on the ship is fine to drink and you can bring your own refillable water bottles. Fill them at the buffet or any bar or restaurant. That water is more purified than anything you get in a bottle.

Just returned from a Carnival cruise for which we purchased the drink package for the first time. It DOES, indeed, include bottled water, as well as specialty coffees! Very sad that we will have to purchase bottled water, if we want it, for our upcoming cruise on the Pearl, even though we have the promotional drink package. Also, totally fine with paying the $200/couple gratuity charge for that package. We did not drink enough to fully justify Carnival's drink pkg., but will easily drink $200 work of alcohol between us. Can't even imagine anyone paying the full price NCL charges for theirs!

  5. We got a sticker on our cards at the first bar, first drink. Left our cards in my husband's swim trunks and mine came off, although you could still see part of it. We asked the lady at the coffee place what the purpose was. She said if we ordered a bucket or more than one drink, they could see at a glance that it was through Cheers, instead of not finding out until they scanned it. Seemed to make sense to us. As long as people only use it as it's supposed to be used, no sticker necessary.

  6. We just returned from a 5 day cruise on the Ecstasy. We decided since it was only 5 days, we would purchase Cheers to see how we liked it. It was great to not have a surprise at the end, although our total wasn't $0, due to all the tips we added to our drinks. Also, there were times I was too full from food to drink, or too full from drinks to eat. Of course, then, the second to last day, my husband made good use of the plan and had to use the last day to recover (drank nothing but water!) We did each have a coffee each day and a few bottled waters, but I'm pretty sure we only broke even on a couple days. Next time, we will just budget enough (that we shouldn't have to think about it ) and just enjoy the cruise!

  7. I do a load of laundry during the middle of the cruise. Some people think doing laundry while on vacation is the devil, but it's no problem for me to take an hour out of the cruise to do it. I'll get on my laptop and catch up on email and my husband goes to the gym.

Went on a week-long cruise in April this year with only a carry on and tote/backpack each for my husband and I. Even had 1 or 2 things left that were clean at the end of the week. Didn't do any laundry! Packing cubes are awesome! Rick Steves has some good YouTube videos on how to do this!

However, just went on a 5 day, plus 2 days in Charleston, and used a 24", carry-on, and a tote/backpack for the 2 of us. We weren't flying this time and were able to pack a bit more, including our snorkel masks and have a few clean items at the end.

  8. We were just in a Cove Balcony on the Magic in April. Yes, there is a subtle sewer smell at times. We were not under the galley, but under the dining room. Not sure what was going on, but we had about 10-15 minutes of noise at night around 11 (when we were there to hear it). Other than the slight smell, we absolutely loved the cove balcony! It was so private and close to the water. Loved not being over another deck, overlooking people walking or in hot tubs. Highly recommend!

  9. Does anyone know when Carnival will be doing the $50 deposits again?

This $50 deposit was for NCL. Pretty sure Carnival did half price deposit for the one I'm getting ready to go on. Not sure if they do the $50.

  10. Yes, we booked through Norwegian. Glad to hear we're not the only ones. There are 5 couples in our group, 3 of us booked with the $50 deposit. Not sure if theirs is showing that or not, but if they mention it I can tell them not to worry about it.

    Thanks!

  11. We DID book and paid $50/pp. My confusion is that when I log on, it tells me to Pay $250 by 2/16 to keep my reservation. Is the balance of the normal deposit due that soon? If so, I'm SOL because I'm not ready to pay another $250 right now.

  12. So we made a spur-of-the-moment decision last week and booked a cruise for April 1, 2018 on the Pearl with a group of friends. We booked during their $50 down payment special, on the 13th. Now when I log in, it tells me that $250 is due by the 16th and it says "make a payment to keep our reservation!" That was only 3 days after I booked, and the guy I talked to on the phone didn't tell me I'd need to pay the balance of the deposit that quickly. Does anyone have any experience with this? We're going on our 3rd Carnival cruise on April 22nd this year, so I have no experience with Norwegian.

Thanks for any insight on this!
