  1. Ok, before I forget, the juices and smoothies ARE included if you have the drink package. Kind of a bummer that I'm just finding out today but I do plan on coming back later to enjoy one!

I think to add protein it's extra though. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the crew member just wasn't aware the week I sailed.

  2. Love the review so far, excellent job!

Do you know if the drink options in the vitality spa are included with the deluxe drink package? would be awesome to get some fresh juices/protein shakes while at sea. thanks for any input!

Fresh juices are included and the protein shakes are extra. That's what I was told last week.

  3. We are onboard right now too, and I think it was actually $6.95 per person for lunch and dinner and that includes a soda if you do not already have the soda package and deserts. If you want to add a shake (which we did) it costs about $4 extra. We are only gold members, but the waitress said we have a buy one shake get one free so the $4 actually paid for both of our shakes.

We went here for dinner on the formal night because we do not like to dress up and we were able to go in shorts and a nice shirt with no problem. We were actually the only ones in the restaurant at 6pm since most people walked out once they heard there was a cover charge.

We personally thought the food was worth the cost, but the huge benefit was being able to get in when we wanted. This is the first cruise for us where almost every dining venue is booked by the first day of the cruise. I figured that once onboard a lot of reservations would open up, but that has not been the case. We are easy going people so it has not been a big deal, and we by no means have gone hungry. However, for those not as easy going, I can see a lot of future threads about how hard it is to get reservations and how that ruined the cruise.

The other thing to note is that when you book a dinner reservation anywhere the system blocks out 2 hours for dinner so if you want to book a show anytime in that 2 hour window it will not let you even if one ends and starts at the same time (if you have a 6pm dinner reservation your show must start after 8:01). Again, for us it has not been a huge problem, but I am sure others would not agree with us.

I wouldn't say it ruined my cruise but it was disappointing when cruising last week that we had such a hard time booking speciality dining. Never had that issue before. I think and heard from the staff that the royal IQ app is part to blame. Sometimes it didn't show the dining we had planned and then one day it still showed one we had cancelled. I think people add the specialty dining then don't show. The hostess at 150 said they were keeping track of dining on an excel file separate from the app because it wasn't reliable. Also our internet went out one day. :(

  4. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience Rolloman. We cancelled Chef's Table when we found out how they were setting it up.

Was a wonderful experience on Allure and Oasis in the upper level of the Concierge Lounge.

Agreed. We also didn't book it since it was set up in the solarium. I was uncertain. It was wonderful on oasis though.

It's definitely not a balcony and YES I missed my balcony this cruise but the inside worked for our large family this cruise. Kids were able to sleep in late if we so choose and it was also nice to have to know daytime from night time.

Also no pullout couch. :( however our kids were able to sleep with grandparents a few nights on the sofa with blankets on top, it just didn't convert to a bed.

  6. Thanks so much for doing these updates throughout your week. I've been following your daily kids planners and the last one you posted was of day 3. Do you intend to post the remainder of the week? I'd appreciate it if you would, as I'll be taking my grand daughter next May and would love to see them all. Thanks and enjoy the rest of your cruise

I will. My kids have been staying in my parents room and the cabin steward stopped placing them in my room. I will track them down. :) we saved everything.

Tonight's MDR thanksgiving was good, service is still spotty but better than most restaurants so I'm not going to really complain. We were asked for drink refills from the bar 3 times at the MDR tonight....nice IMO.

Again, once I'm off the ship I will make some comments. It's just busy with a family of 8 two of which are young kids and schedule events with our friends onboard as well.

Tomorrow is day 7 :( :( :( and dinner in wonderland and hopefully a pool day.

  7. My wife told me that people on Facebook were reporting that the restaurants were getting all booked up weeks before we cruised. She was on me to make reservations before we got on board, but I figured that the concierge could fix us up once we got on board, but Raj had a hard time too. We did manage to get into Wonderland on Friday and 150 Central Park for Thanksgiving, but had to be very flexible with times. We also got into Sabor last night for dinner.

I think if they have people booking specialty restaurants via Royal IQ app, they should start charging them if they don't show up. That is just unacceptable. If you book before you board, they charge you up front. It should be the same with the app.

I agree you should be charged for not showing. People make their reservations in hast. This was never an issue prior to royal IQ. I've also noticed that unlike allure and oasis they haven't advertised the 3, 4 or 5 night packages onboard. Someone I spoke to in the elevator said they prebooked the package prior to boarding and booked day 1 as allowed online and then got onboard and had to cancel the package due to lack of availability. We were able to get 150 last night 1 hour before, and begged the lady at wonderland in person to add us to our friends reservation since it's his 40th birthday Friday.
