Just got off Grandeur Saturday 3/7.  David Bradshawe was cruise director.  Did not have opportunity to ask how long he was on.  At Farewell Show he did "top 10 question list" which we have not seen in years.  This schtick was way outdated...question # "What do you do with ice sculptures when they melt?"  Question #1  "what time is the midnight buffet?"

New cruisers were confused, where are ice sculptures and how did I miss the midnight buffet?  Experienced cruisers were just sad remembering the beauty of the sculptures & all that is no longer a part of the cruise experience.

We had David last Fall. He's in my top 10 WORST CDs. He's wooden, dated, and needs to walk away, IMO

  2. Just came off Rhapsody...Bill Bronckhurst was very wooden apparently he's at 35 years with RCCL, and it shows. Greeted us every night at the show with the same opening patter. Came to the Diamond Lounge to "mingle", but never circulated beyond 3-4 couples in first row around the dance floor. Basically invisible. Also only scheduled the M&M for 30 minutes, enough time to give away the same lame prizes (and 3 bottles of wine), and then expected to end the event...does he not understand the word "mingle"? Anyway he makes it to.my top 5 "worst" list. Now I know why he has no FB page 👎

I had all of them you've mentioned in your list and Spacey would top them all. Go to Youtube and search for Richard Spacey doing his "Evolution of Dance" routine that he would perform on the last night of a cruise.

    IMO my favorites are:

    Mike Swajkowski (sp)

    Michele Scarpato

    Richard Spacey

    Clo O'Connor

Yes Donna. This is recent news. I felt he had already ‘checked out’ as a CD when I was on Explorer in June.

Best of luck to him in the future.

    Cheers!

We were on repositioning cruise with him from Australia to Southampton...saw very little of him except morning show (tv)  and evening show. Not one of my favorites.

Bob was CD on the Grandeur Oct 6 th cruise.  Looking forward to having Mike in January!   He is awesome!

Mike is amazing. We had him in September on Brilliance for TransAtlantic..he had Jeopardy, Family Fued, Weakest Link..just terrific and entertaining. He was literally everywhere ..even did commentary on ice carving at the pool.

  6. I have 2 questions; 1st time on the BRILLANCE

    1. Where is the Diamond Lounge on the Brillance & is it able to hold a crowd or do they put the overflow somewhere else.

    2. As a D+ can I go some where else for a cocktail hour if it is crowded?

    3. Can I use my 3 drink in the mauin dinning room?

    THANKS YOU

We were on Brilliance TA this Fall.....DL is up next to Viking Lounge -VERY small - even for breakfast..BUT they used the Colony Club for the Happy Hour as there were in excess of 1100 Diamond and D+ on that cruise (as is true with most TAs). The service and apps in the Colony were great and I am assuming that some of the food & beverage personnel will still be around next Fall They were very accomodating on the ship last Fall, we were able to use the sea pass chits in the MDR and at other bars around the ship.

  7. Just to defend the guy a bit, I don't think he was expressing surprise that this was a peeve of yours so much as surprise that this is something you actually encounter on a cruise. (I don't believe I've ever seen a dog in a stroller on a cruise ship, but I don't doubt it has happened.) So, I don't think only quoting that portion of it was not meant to make you look bad in any way, but rather to focus on that part of your post.

Generally, I think it's fine to only quote part of someone's post, as long as you're not doing it to try to take something out of context (and I don't think that was the intent here).

YES< there are dogs on cruise ships in strollers. We just did a TransAtlantic and there were 4 dogs on board, two of which were in strollers. Apparently their owners were spedning the summer in Europe, so the dogs came along.

  8. Hair in the cabin drawers. Can't stand it, if I see any hairs I have to wipe out all the drawers before I unpack to remove the ick factor.

Trying to get to the buffet stations when folks are clueless to the line behind them and just stand there in a daze.

I agree with the fact that although the "chair savers" are annoying, even more frustrating is the fact that crew members do very little to "clean up" the situation, even after hours left unattended.

People who MUST sit in the first row at the theater and "save" seats for their friends ..really..have you never seen live entertainment? If you want to sit there, show up early and don't have your friends save your seats!

I've noticed by many of the comments here, that there seems to be a single underlying premise exhibited .....when folks are on vacation, all manners and courtesy go out the window!

  9. After I initiated this thread I looked on the Meet & Mingle page and came across this little paragraph:

"Special Note: All inquiries regarding Royal Caribbean/Cruise Critic parties should be directed to either LauraS (community@cruisecritic.com) or our exclusive contact at Royal Caribbean: Xplora@rccl.com only."

    So I wrote them!

I think it is a RCCL problem and either the information is not given to the responsible folks on board or they just don't care.

We subsequently did a Celebrity cruise after the RCCL and it was lovely - even the Captain attended !
