  1. There is one particular dessert in the traditional dining halls called 'Chocolate Sensation' (or something fairly similar- not sure why I can't remember it... I said its name every day for a week) that I had to have every night. If I had a different dessert before that, I'd still need to feed my craving with the Chocolate dish right after.

That's why I'm going again next Feb :')

We were just on the Allure and the chocolate sensation wasn't on the menu anymore. My hubby had to get chocolate cake which was similar.

  2. According to the Royal Caribbean website, the port time in St Maarten was 8 AM - 5 PM, which was the same as my Harmony cruise in January. If you had to leave before 5 PM, I'm sure there was a valid reason .......... ask the crew! From my cruising experience, they try their best to stick to the schedule unless there is some circumstance that causes them to deviate.

As for leaving San Juan at 2 PM, it takes the Harmony about 19 hours to reach Labadee, the next stop. If you left San Juan at sunset, you wouldn't reach Labadee until just before sundown ............ giving you only an hour or two there.

The Harmony is a big ship and doesn't have as high a cruising speed as some smaller ships. For me, ships like the Harmony ARE the destination, especially if you've been to all the Caribbean ports a few times. I'll get off the ship and walk around for a bit, but happy to return after a few hours to free food, sparkling pools, air conditioning, and clean rest rooms!

As others have mentioned, it might be a good idea to plan ahead and look for itineraries that suit you BEFORE you book. Celebrity, for example, now have some overnight stops.

I never looked at it that way. We will be on the Allure on the 18th and I was bummed out they took and hour from Puerto Rico. But my husband reassured me that 6 hours is more than enough time their in the summer time. Plus we plan on just walking off the ship and just winging it anyways.

  3. We will be doing that cruise on the 18th of this month. If I remember correctly reservations for things opened up in January. We purchased a over the water cabana at Nellies about a month ago. We did have to call and we are not suite guest. In Puerto Rico we are just gonna walk off the ship and tour it ourselves. Free trolley up to the Fort and then walk our way back down. St. Maarten we are using Bernards tours...we have heard wonderful things about them.

  4. Stayed at the best western west state 84 road twice. It was nice affordable and a short ride to the cruise port

That's were we are booked this June. Paid around 80. Last year we stayed at the Hampton Inn next door and this year the room is 170ish. That area is prefect for us because across the street is the shopping center for last minute grabs and the Sports Bar for dinner.

  5. I was on the January 8th Oasis of the seas sailing. I carried on two bottles of wine, and checked in with my luggage 40 (yes, forty) cans of Perrier, 18 20oz bottles of water and a twelve pack of caffiene free diet coke. They came through without a hitch. And then with an empty fridge we had lots of cold drinks in our room. I had done something similar to this on our Navigator sailing last year also without problem. On the navigator sailing they had opened the packaging and inspected it but it still all came through -- on this recent oasis sailing they didn't even do that.

If you're thinking "that's a lot of luggage space", it's simple -- I brought a collapsible and sturdy largish backpack that held the perrier and sodas and checked it in as it's own bag. The waters easily fit within the rest of our luggage.

We will be on the Allure in June. I plan on getting the alcohol package for myself. If I bring on sodas for my daughter do they need to be bottles or cans? I would rather Carey on a 3 dollar 12 pack then pay 8.50 a day. She had the soda package last cruise and actually got tired of it.

  6. We will be on the Allure in June and I am torn on weather or not to get the drink package. It is on sale now for a discounted price but everyone seems to be complaining on drink price increase. Still seems it would be a good deal for me since I am known to be a lush on vacation..lol. Just wonder if the prices on basics like cranberry vodkas are more then the 13 dollar limit?

  7. We made Jamaica a beach day and went to Doctors Cave beach in Montego Bay. Found a private driver to take us and pick us up. The beach was awesome and clean, the food great, and the drinks strong. Had a great time there and only got approached twice if we wanted weed...but that was all outside the beach area.

  8. We used Royston. He was amazing. It was just me, my husband, and daughter. He took us everywhere and drives other places most tours won't. He also provides bottled water, beer, and Ting(a grapefruit soda) and he picks up lunch. Cost was 45 pp and that provided admission into the brimstone fortress. We enjoyed every minute of our tour. At the end it was sad to go.
