To the original poster - you are going at a time when it will be hot and a lot of crowds.  I looked and it appears there are 3 major, and 2 minor cruise ships in port that day.  I would recommend looking for shore excursions that do NOT mention returning to the ship with the cable car (if possible).  Oia might be a better option for you but even those shore excursion need to be read carefully.  Sometimes you return by boat, other times returned by bus to Fira and you have to make your own way down.    If you do end up at the top of Fira and need to get down, allow for 3 hours for the cable car and be prepared to walk down the path if lines are too long.  Do NOT wear sandals, only good quality sneakers and go slow.  People break or sprain ankles all the time on that path.  Don't do the donkeys, and don't step in donkey doo doo.

I'm not sure where you found the ships in port on the day the original poster is going to be in Santorini - we are also booked on the same cruise and found only 3 ships total - 1 small, 1 small/medium, 1 medium/large and no mega ships. Looks to be less than 8000 people from all 3 ships.

Hello. This is my first cruise to Europe & First Time to Greece.  We welcome tips on which excursions to do, where to sightsee, where to shop & dine.

We are a casual family of 5 looking for some culture and utilizing the time on each port to see the best it has to offer.  Not looking for fancy restaurants but seeing the best of each port.

    Travelers: Me & hubby (40's) + 2 sons (13,14) + my mom (78).

We are thinking a cultural tour of Athens & its hisorty.   Not sure what to do on the other ports, all place of interest welcome! Thanks!

  3. We booked an Aug 2023 cruise yesterday.  Trying to get into the cruise planner to take advanttage of the memorial day sales.  We can see the deals, but the reserve botton is blacked out and can not click it.  Called the 1800 number and they can not do anything either.  The sale ends tonight.  This also happened to us with the Black Friday sales in Nov 2022.  Getting really tired of the CRAPPY Customer Service with RCCL.  Anyone else having issues?

Last month we sailed Jewel (T5) followed by Wonder (T1) at Port Canaveral.  During our Jewel cruise we received a voice mail message that they recognized that we were sailing Wonder and would provide special tags and a transfer. It was basically the last tag number.

It was nice, though I wish they asked if we wanted the service rather than assume we did.  We drove to port, parked the car in the T5 garage, and wanted to make the transfer ourselves instead so we could make a stop in Cape Canaveral and park the car in garage 1.

The port map you saw sounds questionable if it has Jewel at T1.  I do’t know if this schedule goes far enough for your cruise, but maybe it will help

did you end up taking the transfer?  we are going on the Indy next week, then the Mariner (I believe T5 and T1), if you did transfer, did they shuttle back to the original terminal for parking?  we are thinking of parking at the first terminal, debark and drive and park at the second terminal.

  5. We were on this cruise with Mario, he spoke at the Crown & Anchor top tier event. What impressed me the most is that the large cake they had put out to celebrate the 10,000 points, he asked for it to be taken to the crew mess for them to enjoy, said that passengers have ample choices of desserts and that the crew are the ones that should get to enjoy it. My son spoke with him after watching the cabin tv interview with Mario and Elvis (cruise director) and he was very kind to him.

We have not had a CP balcony before but are looking forward to the ones we have booked in March on the Oasis.  The price was less than an interior cabin, go out at night (when you cannot see the hanging laundry) and listen to any musicians playing below, and best of all...somewhere outside to hang my wet bathing suit to let it dry (to the dismay of my fellow passengers).  Even better, we are travelling with another family who has the balcony directly across from us.  Can we string a clothesline across CP to hang our laundry on? 😆

Can you imagine the looks we would get if in fact we DID hang a clothesline across CP!!!!  I'm not sure how to get it from one side to the other - you bringing a drone?  I will have to remember to close the curtains when getting ready - not something I need to think about with an oceanview or ocean balcony!

  7. We currently have an inside on the Odyssey for March 12. we got the email for Royal up,  and I have put in 3 different bids - spacious oceanview, oceanview balcony, large balcony. I was really hoping to see some of the suites open up for bidding, but I guess that going from an inside to bid on a suite is not a thing.

My question - has anyone ever seen cabin options in the bidding process change closer to sailing?  Could there be any chance for us to be able to bid for a suite or not likely

  8. We are booked on the Odyssey for March, today we received the RoyalUp email.  I've tried looking up a cabin type on the Odyssey and can not figure it out, please help CC'rs.  What would you do?

    Background - family of 4 - 46, 43, 15, 12 (kids are girl/boy), currently in an inside cabin.

    The RoyalUp offers are:

Spacious Ocean View Balcony (this we have no clue what this cabin is as there is nothing online for it that we can find on the Odyssey, and the picture looks more like a Junior Suite in the email).  Min. bid $105cdn
Ocean View Balcony - Min. bid $90cdn
Obstructed Ocean View Balcony - Min. bid $115cdn
Spacious Ocean View - min. bid $65cdn

Ocean View - min. bid $50cdn

Please help us determine what we should bid and how much over do you think?  We are seasoned cruisers, but this is the first time for a RoyalUp offer

Our group is pondering the same questions.  We are continuing with our travel plans, although two of our 21 people cancelled yesterday.  By the way, which AoS are you on (there are several - Allure, Adventure, Anthem).  We are on the Adventure this Saturday.

I am a teacher and called my local union today since each board's collective agreement is slightly different.  I was informed that we are 100% covered if we are quarantined.  Not only that, it counts as a short term leave of absence at 100% pay and does not use up any of our 11 sick days.  If teachers are out striking during a quarantine, there is the potential that a teacher would get paid MORE since they are not striking but on a paid leave of absence. Idiot Premier...

I believe we are in the same board.  Also, I'm pretty sure you are the A.T. guy for my school (Lambeth) AND you go to the same church (or were at the Superbowl night!!)

Anyway, who did you speak with at ETFO regarding potential quarantine?  Did they send you anything in writing?  If they did, do you mind forwarding it to me.  On outlook I'm TV40959 (easiest was as to not have to put in an email address)

    Thanks

    Lisa
