I have them booked for the same four tours (although still waiting on 2 more to get our minimum # of participants for Florence).  Just hoping we make it to Positano on the Pompeii tour. I am half tempted to switch to and try a get enough people to book the Amalfi Coast tour bc I really want to see more of Positano than just from the viewpoint from above. Thanks for your post!

We too are two short for our Florence tour. Going to have to find an alternative company I think :(

  2. I think its white pudding in Ireland and square sausage (without skin so looks white?) in Scotland. Someone will correct me I'm sure.

Thinking about it I'm sure I've eaten Haggis on a UK cruise that had a British Isles theme one night in the Windjammer.

Square is just sausage meat made into a block then sliced. It’s still pink. The only way sausage should be

  3. Happy to find this thread. We are sailing on Oasis the week of April 1st, first cruise ever, and our 13 yr old daughter has celiac. I plan on doing a full report on our gluten free experience after the cruise. Glad to hear so many have had good experiences!

Please do :) I have just been diagnosed with a wheat allergy and we set sail on oasis next year. Have fun:)

  4. The first time that we order room-service, I save the lid that tops the plates. I then take the lid, turn it upside down and make a bowl. Each time I visit the Lido buffet, I take a piece or two of fresh fruit and make a fruit bowl for our cabin. It is nice to have healthy options handy.

We also love cashews so I usually pack a can or two for a 7 day cruise. Salted nuts are one thing that we cannot find on the ships.

A trick I learned when my children were younger, was to pack a small stack of the basket-style coffee filters. We then use these to put a handful of nuts into or to hold our morning bagel in lieu of taking the glass plates out to our balcony. When the kids were younger, they came in extra handy for holding ice-cream cones, hot-dogs, tacos or to dole out a handful of chips or cookies.

I do not take plastic zippy bags to the buffet but have taken a coffee filter in my pocket to bring back a slice or two of the banana bread that is so delicious and only seems to be available at breakfast time. They are also good to use as a cover for small plates, if we want to bring something back to enjoy on our balcony. The buffet does not provide to-go covers and nothing more unappealing then carrying an uncovered plate in an elevator crammed with people....... I have seen people do this and it just amazes me.. Maybe I'm just OCD ... who knows...

Coffee filters....that is genius! I need to add that to my list. I do tend to eat more the last half of the day than the first [emoji106]

  5. I kinda like the review, and without knowing the ship, it seems to be that the mentioned problems in the article are true.

And what really botheres me: NO VIKING CROWN LOUNGE or any other lounge with sea-view (at least in front direction/direction of travel) and no traditional dinner, where one can choose between fixed and my time dining...

And do we really need such a Smartphone-related ship, and a bar where a robot is serving you?

    I wanna be on vacation!

Also to me, the ship seems to be too "gimmickly" - and the "oh so great" amenities such as bumper cars, NorthStar etc. cannot balance out the things/facilities I miss, compared to other RCI ships.

So I am happy to sail on the "oldtimer" (:D), compared to Quantum, fully out-fashioned Vision otS - but at least I am travelling on a true cruise ship, which is also not unattractive! [emoji5]

Also in future, I will focus my interest on Vision-, Radiance-, Voyager-, or Freedom-Class-ships! [emoji5]

Really loved Liberty last year - an innovative, but IMHO still "true" cruise ship...

It's 'gimmicky' because RCI have to future proof their business. They need the young and 'trendy' to want to sail with them now so the become regulars in the future. They are trying to change the perception of cruising. I think this is perhaps why so many mixed reviews.

I haven't been on any ship before, i'm just going by my research :)

  6. Is it actually 100% free because there must be some kind of catch that you have to pay for.

    Cynical much ;) lol

I read the small print etc and the actual cruise is free. I obviously have to make my own way to port and I assume the usual drinks etc are on me. I assume that the tips will be on me too. I don't mind that at all though.

It's a press and travel agent preview sailing before the inaugural itinerary
