We will be staying in London for a few days before the cruise. We have been there many times and my husband could not find any major sites in the city guides that he hadn’t already seen. Does anyone have suggestions on unknown venues that would be fun to spend time visiting?
For sure we will go to the National Gallery and St Martin in the Field for a day, but is there some hidden gem you would recommend?
Thank you.

I've been known to have my butler supply me with some fruits & veggies to take ashore as treats for the horses when I've gone riding. Even after telling him nothing fancy, he would still come back with something impressively elegant!
How cool! It’s been a couple of years since I rode regularly. Was thinking about it for upcoming trip. Have you ever gone riding in Iceland, Shetland Island, etc?

And the weather may not be the most promising for a picnic. 😞 These temps are for the month of June.
Average Temperature Rainfall
June 8 Leith (Edinburgh), United Kingdom 17 C 9 days
June 10 Invergordon, United Kingdom 15 C 9 days
June 11 Lerwick, United Kingdom 13 C 9 days
June 12 Tórshavn, Faeroe Islands 11 C 11 days
June 13 Day at sea
June 14 Seydisfjordur, Iceland 13 C 8 days
June 15 Djupivogur, Iceland 10 C 7 days
June 16 Heimaey, Iceland 11 C 12 days
June 17 Reykjavik, Iceland 12 C 9 days
Yikes. That’s nippy. In that case maybe a flask of hot chocolate to go with a lap blanket.

I think it depends on what port you are thinking about. Some places do not allow food to be taken off the ship. Australia, for example, is very strict about that. I'm not sure if the ports on this itinerary will be more lenient. If the port allows it, then yes, you could ask the butler to arrange something for you. Give them advanced notice though. 🙂
So true. Your comment brought back a memory of Australia and the time a very cute beagle sat on my feet in the inspection area because of a backpack I was wearing. My husband understood immediately and told me not to pet him because he’s working. When the agent came over to check it there was no food in it, but must have been a lunch from an earlier time.

Thank you Mysty. Have another minor question for you.
if you wanted to have a picnic at one of the port cities, can the butler arrange for that? Something as simple as like a sandwich and a piece of fruit? A few of the places look so beautiful that just taking in the scenery might be a way to spend the time.

Was reading an excursion discussion on this board and someone said many of the “tours are free”. Is that true for the Silversea Whisper cruise?

1. No
2. You don’t. Just show up when you’d like to dine.
Thank you Stumblefoot. That sure is convenient.

Do we get specific cruise information mailed to us or do we look for it online next month? Am interesting in finding out about the shore excursions and prices.
Also are there different seating for the Main Dining Room? If so, how do we request the seating times we’d like?
Thank you for your help.

We sail out of Greenwich at 2:00 am on June 7. You will board on June 6. 🙂 The Lady Whisper is scheduled to arrive in London Greenwich at 1:15 am on June 6.
Thank you for pointing that out. Interesting. What time should we board? I’m trying to arrange transfer from our hotel to the ship.

Thank you Jollyjones and Mayflower1. We are 211 days out from out cruise so there are many details we do not know about. When you have cruises with them what time do you need to arrive for a 1400 sailing from Greenwich?

Thank you for the heads up. Did not know that.

We've met the 6-person minimum for the Cruise Critic Meet & Mingle aboard your Silversea Cruise on the 2020-06-06 sailing of Silver Whisper. During the cruise, if you signed up you will receive an invitation delivered to your stateroom regarding the day, time, and location of the Meet & Mingle. In the meantime, you can meet your fellow cruisers on the Silversea Cruises forum online at our Cruise Critic community and invite them to join the get together when you click here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com

Sorry to hear that. How disappointing for you.
Have attended them on other cruiselines and was pleasantly surprised to see people we knew going on our trip. And we also got to meet other folks that we later would see in the dining rooms.
So it is definitely a good event.

Welcome to the SS forum of CC!Looks like you’ve received great advice from Mysty and Observer. Another option for arranging excursions with like minded cruise passengers is to use the Roll Call feature here on CC And, as long as you sign up for a Meet & Mingle here on CC and four other folks do as well, SS will arrange a private party for your group.
Have a wonderful time planning your voyage!
Thank you! Yes they are really helping me flow seamlessly into this cruise. Great advocates. I did signup for meet & Mingle, but there doesn’t seem to be much traffic to that function. Will you be on this cruise? Warm regard.

This is my husband and my first time on SS. Want to thank Mysty from Canada for pointing me to this message board. Very excited to meet our fellow cruisers on this very unique cruise.
Can anyone please tell me about how to get shore excursions. On the last few cruises we have arranged with fellow cruises to do a few elaborate ones and we liked going with a small group.
Also wondering if SS will have any welcome aboard parties on the 1st night that we can attend.

Thanks for sharing those great experiences. Am going to try to find opportunities at least once to ride on our upcoming trip. Found some wonderful videos on YouTube of a riding school outside of Reykjavik that would be the best way to experience the countryside and see waterfalls.
Happy Trails!
