  1. Stayed next door in the Executive suite.

No noise from above in the mornings or any part of the day to be honest.

For the extra space and price, I prefered the executive suite. IMHO.

But had a tour of next door on change over day, it is a really massive room and quite impressive.

    Enjoy

We have done a Princess British Isles cruise in the past and enjoyed it but I think the person particularly wants to visit Liverpool and Newcastle.I know some of the itineraries include Liverpool but as far as I am aware I have not known Princess visit Newcastle?

Just bringing this topic/thread back on track.

Princess are doing Newcastle next year (2021) as I'm doing a British Isles cruise on Island Princess and we stop in Newcastle after Edinburgh.

  3. You can check photos of the after to see where the pillar is on the balcony.

IMHO it doesn't get in the way as the balcony is large enough.

What it does do is that it's metal and you can use magnet hooks to hang bits to so they aren't sliding about on the floor or table.

The balconies without the pillar costs more, is the money worth it, only you can decide that.

  4. Have just requested a full refund on my 2 July cruises.

Was looking at a FCC and spending the extra 25% on a better cabin.

But when I looked and compared my 12 night Canaries Cruise in a Suite on Ventura, for the same Cruise, same ship and same cabin but for Christmas 2021, the price was 40% more.

So this FCC incentive is not as good as you think it is, IMHO.

Looked at Marella for simular cruise and found that with flights, 2 more days, 6 more ports of call, and drinks included, it was 30% cheaper.

  5. Being an ex-sailor for the Royal Navy and have sailed very rough seas, the best ways to control sea sickness is to not concentrate on it.

Take your mind of the ocean. Go do a puzzle, play a game. Something that requires thinking.

Also sleep, most drugs just make you sleepy, so go to sleep. Lay the right way on the bed, so the rocking motion sways you from left to right and not head to toe. You will wake up fine and only takes around 2 hours sleepfor the body to correct the motion and not make you sick.

Ginger might not work for most, suck on a mint also helps.

I enjoy the rough seas and motion, it makes me hungry but I'm strange like that.

  6. I cruise in 30 days and have had a letter from X, stating their policies if refusal happens at the port.

IMHO, all of this is being blown way out of proportion. Last year in the UK, 100,000 people died from the flu, this isn't reported and made people scared to step outside their own homes. This virus isn't as bad as SARS and yet the big news and panic is worldwide.

I've paid for a holiday and I'm going.

Definitely looks good. I'm banking on liking my experience on Edge in just over 2 weeks - yesterday I had my TA change the Reflection Norwegian Fjords cruise I'd booked for July 2021 to the 7/17/2021 Apex Italy, France and Spain cruise!! It's a little less than the Fjords and will let me do more exploring in Rome pre-cruise and Barcelona post-cruise (two cities I love) as well as letting me explore and re-explore other places!! AND it will let me be on the ship over my actual birthday!! 🙂

Make sure you let EVERYONE know it's your birthday and it shows on your cruiseplanner as well.

Hiccups - if a beer is shown as being in the Premium Package but not in the Classic, then the price will be above $9. As an example, the price of Stella Artois is $10.

So if you had the classic package you would pay $1 plus 20c for the gratuity = $1.20 in total.

Is Stella was all that you were drinking, then the break even point between buying the upgrade at $10 per day plus $2 gratuity is 10 drinks per day.

If you are drinking 10 Stella's a day, the price is the least of your problems!

  9. Just to throw another spanner into the mix but thought this might help with your booking.

I wanted to do a UK tour cruise for Summer 2021 and after lengthy research have found and booked this:

    Island Princess - 27 July 2021 - 14 days

    Ports of Call are:

Southampton, Guernsey, Cork, Holyhead, Belfast, Glasgow, Shetland Islands, Orkney Islands, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Portland, Southampton.

South get the full UK on this cruise, with England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

Also in Edinburgh for the Tattoo overnight port but is tender boat stop.

Hope this doesn't confuse you more and you never know, we might end up on the same cruise.

Completely agree.  Forget the new ideas and experiences. Get back to traditional cruising.

There are plenty of loud, brash cruise lines out there to suit young people and families.

When we and a few others mentioned to the CD and the ACD  about the excessively loud music in the theatre they made a derogatory comment about our age.

I'm not saying the whole ship will be all new ideas. Just one thing added.

The rest will still be the same, MDR, Theatre, Bar, lounge, etc. If not improved.

OK totally radical idea, how about scenic cruising during the day and stay overnight in port.

Excursions offered could be evening walks, night at the theatre etc.

Nice idea, might not be practical every week, but each ship could do a few of these a year and with good planning, it will work.

Baltics and Norway spring to mind for great destinations to do this on.
