  1. If you want a better comfort level that they'll honor your reservation, you can go to https://www.nordicchoicehotels.com/contact-us/ and click on the Open Chat button. That was the best way to actually get a hold of someone without an expensive overseas call.

Thanks! I already confirmed my Clarion reservation that way. I also got a match for Nordic Choice status using HH Diamond.

You said in an earlier post someone arranged transportation from the Clarion to the port. Do you know if the transport was arranged via the hotel or directly with the transport service? There are several people on my roll call staying at the Clarion if we can share expenses that would be great.

  2. You're going to have to call to see if you can park. https://www.massport.com/port-of-boston/cruiseport-boston/parking-passenger-drop-off/ It does say $20/day for ticketed passengers if you are allowed to park.

How much would it cost you to park at Logan? I'm guessing you can find a better deal than $20/day so that you save enough money just to take a cab back to your car at Logan.

Thanks that is what I thought. I can park at Logan off site lot for less than $20/day. I may also do car rentals each way that may be cheaper than parking for almost 3 weeks.

  3. Hi I live in Western Massachusetts (100 miles from Boston) and I am looking at different parking options for myself and partner to get to Logan for our flight the early evening on August 22 (heading to Copengagen), then back home after we dock at Black Falcon the morning of September 10 (Sunday). Since we are not light packers I want to minimize moving luggage in and out of cars, taxis, shuttle busses, etc.

I normally park at Pre-flight at Logan. One option would to park there, and after the cruise get a taxi to the Preflight lot or Logan. Or one of us can stay at the pier with our luggage, and the other can get to Preflight for the car and swing back to the pier (September 10 is Sunday morning so hope traffic not horrible).

The other option would be to drop off bags at Logan the afternoon of Tuesday August 22, go to pier and park, then get cab or Silver line back to the airport for our flight. That way we can speed up heading home at the end.

My question is: Can we even access long term cruise parking by the pier if our cruise does not depart Boston or there are no other cruises that day?

    Thanks

  4. Have a look at the Hyatt Place, it's across the road from a number of the main tourist sites including the space needle and also has a free shuttle to the cruise port at Pier 66 where the Pearl sails from . We are staying there after our cruise and staying at the Courtyard in South Lake Union before our cruise. Both are close to transport and in nice areas . I would recommend going on the west coast departures board on here where you will get more information

I stayed at the Hyatt place precruise a couple of weeks ago. I cashed in points for the room and got a great view of the space needle. Like the above post said there is a free shuttle to the NCL pier or within a Mile of the hotel. The shuttle was running late on embarkation day so we got a cab for $10. Plenty of places within walking distance like restaurants plus a Walgreens right across the street. You can also walk to the monorail to go to Pikes Market or downtown.

  5. Following this and looking for same info. We are flying from Boston mid Aug 2016 and return mid Sept on TA cruise. Was hoping our daughter could transport us from CT. but will be her vaca when we leave and "has to work" when we return. Vera we are doing the TA this year.

I'm on Serenade TA in 2017 is that what you are doing this year?

If Amtrak service was better from Springfield to Boston I'd consider that. I won't do the Peter Pan bus! Car service is at least $250 each way from western MA.

  6. It's back in Framingham -- they moved it to Natick while they built the garage, but that was only temporary. The place is completely different now!

Logan and Black Falcon are close enough together that the easiest thing might just be to hop in a cab between them. Bear in mind that by August 2017 the tunnel will be tolled in both directions, not just when leaving the airport. (One would hope they'll halve the toll as a result, but... this is Massachusetts we're talking about.)

Thanks. I should have checked myself that the Logan express lot was back in Framingham.. . I did not hear about the tunnel tolls either

  7. Hi. I'm taking a transatlantic cruise so we are flying out of Logan then docking in Boston cruise terminal at the end. We live in Western Massachusetts so need to drive in. Assuming I can't find a friend to drive us, what are the best option(s) for long term parking convenient to both locations? I normally park at Preflight when I fly from Logan. I was thinking of parking there, and at the end of the cruise we can get cab to Logan then shuttle to parking lot.

Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance b

  8. I have had recent sporadic issues using my IPad to get to my November 8 2015,BA reservation on the NCL web site. Sometimes it does not accept my user name and /or password, or I can get to my reservation and absolutely zero options appear for excursions, dining etc in planning. I already used my IPad to book my shows. I also could not make final payment on IPad had to use my laptop. I tried Safari and Chrome on IPad no difference.
  9. We will be on an Eclipse sailing in May 2016 and will probably rent a car in Reykjavik for our overnight port call. Could I ask either/both of you to post whether you were able to park overnight at the Reykjavik pier? Thanks in advance.

There was plenty of free parking at Reykjavik port to leave our rental car overnight June30 to July 1 2015. It is right next to the pier so you can see the cars from the ship.

  10. One more question about your overnight in Reykjavik. Did you guys have a time when you had to be back on the ship at night? If so, what time was it? RCI can't give me that info ahead of time. We were thinking of going to the blue lagoon in the evening but wouldn't get back until after midnight.

Whenever I have been on a cruise ship and it overnights in a port passengers can go on and off the ship anytime until the ship is about to leave.

  11. I also enjoyed the Lysefjord cruise excursion, even though in my case it was misty and rainy. BUT, to directly answer your question, I guess it wasn't that much different than much of what you will likely see from your cruise ship during the rest of your 7 night cruise. Although that somewhat depends on your itinerary. Of note, you will barely be able to differentiate Pulpit Rock from the rest of the rock walls you will pass as your boat sails by. From the base of the cliff, it all pretty much looks the same. When our guide pointed out Pulpit Rock, I had to look up and say... "you mean that? or that?" it's not as obvious as what you see in the pictures taken from above. So, would I do that excursion again? In a heartbeat. But don't do it just because you think you're going to see Pulpit Rock. That's not really a big deal. I would also base the decision on what else you might have available to do that day. In my case, the excursion was what interested me most.

I agree. I loved the fjord boat excursion from Stavanger and I am doing it again on my upcoming cruise. Not so much for pulpit rock, but the up close views of goats, waterfalls, etc. I would love to go up on Pulpit Rock but will need to wait for a land tour with enough time.

  12. We have rented from Thrifty too. We will be on the Eclipse and in Reykjavik on June 30th for 2 days. Planning on parking overnight at the cruise ship pier... hope that is still allowed.

I'm on the same Eclipse cruise and renting from Thrifty as well. Hope we can still park at the Reykjavik pier.

  13. Hi I wanted to get current information about Rekyavik and my upcoming Celebrity eclipse cruise. I am renting a car for our overnight stop at Rekyavik and I am planning on keeping it overnight at the cruise terminal. I have seen earlier posts on CC and Tripadvisor that parking is free and available at the terminal is that still true?

Also I have a chip and signature credit card will I be able to buy gas at gas station kiosks? Will I need to go inside the gas station and use the card there? Should I try to get a chip and pin credit card?

    Thanks. Verna

  14. Verna, I hope you join us on the Star! I'd love to sail in a suite but sadly it's out of budget. Do you have any particular must-dos for a North Cape cruise that you can share from your experience?

Now I am thinking about celebrity eclipse out of Southampton!! Iceland but not as much of Norway.

Definitely tour around Geiranger! Every view is awesome. Get to the north Cape via tour or taxi. Stark and beautiful. Bergen is great too. Funicular is fun.

  15. Glad to see I am not the only one obsessing about a Norway cruise in 2015! I did a north cape cruise on Rotterdam in 2007 and been wanting to go there again. My boyfriend (new cruiser) saw my Norway photos and also is interested. I would love to do it during my birthday in June. Plus I have been hankering for a suite!!! Ncl Star on June 12 fits the bill the best. It does miss Flam.

Most affordable suites on Star (since Royal Caribbean BOGO wiped out most of June 6 Serenade's suites). I have future cruise coupons for NCL HAL and Royal Caribbean as well.

I am expecting a work bonus end of 2014 guess where it will go?
