Question for the group. I see that all Haven categories on my sailing are available to bid on except H8(Deluxe Spa Haven w/ balcony). Is that a category that does not offer upgrades? First time bidding so I was unsure.

    TIA,

    MJ

I’m guessing you have more than 2 people in your room and the capacity for the Haven Spa room is only 2.

You are right on. Maybe we need to start a NEW post that says "WINNING BIDDERS - what was your successful bid?"

Might generate some people to think it over and add their two cents... couldn't hurt. This thread has just gotten sooooo long and out of hand. Also looking for spa or courtyard Haven for 3/10 Getaway. Bid $700 on each, listed in low fair category. Last checked there was availability in those two categories, looked to be about 75% vacant in Haven sections.

There is a thread that tried to do that, but it didn't go very well...

Thanks spacedaisy. That was a wonderful breakdown:) and wow it took 3000 almost for an Aft Haven after paying 5772 on cruise already. That's like 9000 gs. Wow. You go. That was an aggressive bid. You must have wanted it bad. I think you could have taken it for 1000 each.

It was a very aggressive bid. We really wanted a separate bedroom. I talked with another guest on our sailing who bid 1500 from a Mini Suite to the Haven Aft and they did not get it. They only had 2 people and were Platinum. They ended up in a Haven Courtyard.

I Have a theory that our spending before we sailed nudged things in our favor. We still saved 1650 (with additional perks subtracted). I am officially out of the bidding game now. I was a little too obsessed. 😂

How did you determine that there were 60+ cabins and then 37? Where do you get that info?

If you Google "cabin availability revelex", you'll find a discussion about Cabin Availability. The advice is to search on sites that use Revelex. This will show a more complete inventory beyond the 15 cabins NCL displays if you do a mock booking.

At this inventory site cru con , how do you see the inventory for any given cruise? I did a search for my cruise but it gives you basically the same top 10 cabins available for the category, basically showing the same thing NCL shows on a mock booking.

If there are fewer than 15 rooms, it will show the same rooms as a mock booking on NCL. It's only helpful when there are more than 15 rooms available in a given category.

Hi xcell! I am on the same cruise 🙂

The min bid for the H4 is $1000 pp US. The min bid for H2 and H3 is $1500 pp US.

    Hope this helps!

For instance, min bid for H2 is $1985 CDN and for H4, it is $1325.

What is it in USD on the bidding website?

I guess other factors to look at are what is the original room (mine is a B2) and there are 4 in this room (if occupancy makes a difference) and it's a 9 day cruise.

Looking forward to the cruise regardless of the cabin....

I've been checking ncl.com every day since I bought this cruise back in September. :) The price kept going up and down, then all of the cabins were sold out completely (this Mon and Tue), and now it's not even on the site anymore.

This happened to me last year, too. NCL hid my sailing from their site, so I searched other travel websites, and was able to see available cabins for our cruise. Hope it works for you! They will probably add your sailing back on the NCL site in a few days.

For those who have been lucky and won their bids, how far out were you notified and when did you receive your email notification? During the week (M-F) or weekend? Was it during working hours 9-5 or otherwise??? Just trying to limit my obsessive checking of the email 😜

I won my bid on a Wednesday at 4:18 pm. I've noticed the emails tend to go out on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Mine came 11 days before our sailing date (we sail April 9), but others on our cruise received theirs in the last week. For what it's worth, we were in a mid-ship mini suite and upgraded to a Haven Courtyard. Our bid was in the low fair range. Best of luck with your bidding!

  10. Congrats?!

Thanks!? Lol. If you haven't received an email saying otherwise, there's still hope. If you do get the upgrade to a spa suite, NCL will credit you for the spa pass.

Here's something curious...when I bought the soda package two weeks before I found out, I didn't get a new confirmation email. The same thing happened when I made reservations for Cirque a few days later. I don't know if this is a clue that you're earmarked for an upgrade. So, if you buy a spa pass and don't get an updated confirmation email it could be a sign.

Sending good vibes that you get one, too!!

  11. hi all, so my cruise is almost here April 9th is the day.. Just was wondering some opinions so I can purchase the spa passes since I am not getting the upgrade? Breakaway

I'm on your sailing and I got my upgrade on Wednesday.

Did you do the math and see if booking direct with the perks would be better than upgrading without the additional perks?

You bet I did, Jannyflo2! I have an elaborate spreadsheet, :'). We selected UBP and Internet for our perks. So, I subtracted the following from the Haven fare:

    199.08 - UBP Gratuities

    162.84 - Dining

    150 - Port credits

    511.92 - Haven Perks Total

I also tracked the fare for the suites I was bidding on. The highest for the H5 was 9255 and lowest 8555. NCL also offered the $100 OBC last month for BA and up. I took that into consideration, too.

I threw in a little extra in our bid since we have a third person on a cruise with a lot of families. I was afraid this would work against us in terms of capacity for the floors (we were really trying to get an H7 with the separate bedroom). When the price dropped two weeks ago, I actually tried to book the last H7 on the 9th floor at full price, but couldn't because we had an extra person and the floor had reached capacity. I don't think that would be necessary outside of Spring Break.

All things considered--haven perks, price fluctuations, and what we paid for our mini-suite--we saved between 1800 and 2500. That's not including the extra gratuities to the butler and concierge, but I prepaid my DSC, so at least there's that!

  13. I think it varies. We found out at 27 days out but it seems like most are hearing the week of the cruise.

We just got our upgrade from Mini-Suite to Haven Courtyard today!!

We are 11 days from sailing (4/9) and our ship has been close to sold out for a month (Spring Break). That may be the only reason we found out a week earlier than normal. I think three to four days before a sailing is the norm.

On our last cruise, we upsold to the Haven the "old fashioned way." We only paid $500 pp to upgrade from a balcony to at H5. This put the "bidding meter" in perspective. The starting bid they gave us was $400 for H7 and H5. Our accepted bid was in the low-fair range on the meter.

Phew. I've spent the last 50 days obsessing over mock bookings and CC upgrade threads. What will I do with all this extra time?!?

  14. Just got my upgrade from MB Mid-Ship Mini Suite to H5 Courtyard Penthouse. We're on the 4/9 Spring Break sailing of the Breakaway (sailing in 11 days, woohoo!). The ship has been almost sold out for the last few weeks. A bunch of rooms opened up yesterday and today the ship was totally sold out, so I think they were moving rooms around for the upgrades. I received the email at 4:10pm. My bid was in the low fair range.
