Then, Rhino, the world is your oyster! Speaking of RCCL, I am one cruise from diamond and have a future cruise deposit, but they so rarely do anything for solos. Sad, really. Can u treat me for depression?[emoji40]
Yes I can try. Tell me your symptoms. Lol. Sleeping issues? Eating issues? Esteem issues ?

Runner, from that website, I snagged a 12 day Med cruise on RCCL Serenade of the Seas for $799! I think it was an interior, not a studio. Best deal and cruise ever! Haven't seen a price like that in two years. Bucket list includes Baltics and Greece!
Sounds great!

Yes for my Mediterranean cruise! That's a little more difficult to do completely alone.....Caribbean is easy. Once you see people at meet and greet or other activities, you may find some cruising buddies. Three weeks ago, at the Illusarium on the first night, I met a lovely couple who invited me to dine with them on the cruise. We both had UDP, and I rearranged dinner plans for night 2, but then it became too complicated. There are more solos on a cruise than you know of....
Yes I am a bit nervous with having ppl to talk to. I like meeting.new people. Of course I talk to ppl all the time at work so I am welcoming a few days without talking. Lol. U seem to have done a great deal of cruises. How.many solo if I may ask...

I am considering booking a cruise that is set to leave within 1 to 2 weeks of the time I book it. I know the advantages of doing that for the cruise would be generally that they are cheaper accommodations. Has anyone done this? The risk factor is what if the cruise I am looking at has no more availability and what would be factors in booking flights at that time. has anyone booked cruises at spur of the moment? Has anyone been caught in any traps by doing this?

Enjoy! After several years of cruising solo, I'm wondering if it's my preferred method of cruising. I used to depend on the solo gatherings in the studio lounge of the newer NCL ships, but my last trip, 3 weeks ago, I couldn't find the time to fit it in!
You must have been doing something right if u had stuff going on at all times right? Did u do roll call usually to.find single people prior to cruising in the past?

Runner, studios are 150% of the interior price, and RCCL has a few....mostly in Radiance and Jewel class I believe....we solos often think of that as a discount instead of the 200% we normally pay. But, for RCCL, studios were an afterthought, a small closet with no amenities. Thus, I usually go on NCL when booking a year in advance. Several of us know of an on line TA, whose name we can't mention, that categorizes low single supplement cruises....Google that and you may find it.
Many thanks! I may need something sooner as I am dying in this frozen weather lol.

I am going to be using rccl for my 7th cruise but first solo. I know I will take a hit on the cabin. Anyone ever hear of rate deduction for customer loyalty?I was thinking of calling their booking line and talk to someone or is that a total waste of time....I am lonely so maybe it will help fill up a slow Saturday....

Book fixed dining time at a large table. You will have a few people to talk to regularly of an evening. Cheap inside cabins are best for solos if you go for a balcony you will be tempted to sit on it alone for long periods. Sit out on deck chat and mingle and save cash for next trip or excursions. Book some excursions beforehand if you like but see if anyone you meet is doing anything and consider changing. I like to do MDR breakfasts and mingle again. It's all about doing what you want and not being worried if you are on your own.
Regards John
Great ideas John!

I did my first solo last year and have already planned my next. I love to cruise with my friend but it sometimes gets to the point what do you want to do, ohh I don't want to do that. Solo is as someone else put it, do what you want, when you want to where you what to basically. Dinner on the lido, sure, hang out at the pool ok. Watch a show perfect. Go to sleep early at 9pm perfect because no one else will be there to keep you from doing that. I have to say my roll call was pretty much non existent but I did meet people on board during dinner time and actually had dinner table next to mine with a couple a few times. It was nice. A lot of people don't understand why you would want to go solo but I loved it. :D
Yes. I am looking forward to going alone. I dont think I will be bored. I know a lot of criss have single nights too and so forth.

I live cheap. Only thing I spend extra for is for good beer. I also put a little extra into each paycheck so I get it back at tax time.

I am cruising for the first time solo and I am trying to anticipate any problems or differences with doing it solo versus with a partner. I plan on doing a Caribbean run. I have not booked it yet. I always use Royal Cab. Any thoughts are appreciated.
