Will do.  Not sure that I'll get off in Brisbane.  Might just enjoy a quiet shipboard experience.

Many thanks.  Presumably the info on a Celebrity shuttle will be published in the daily planner.  I'll be in Brisbane for two nights before the  RCI T/Pacific and plan to scoot about on the City Cats.  I saw a really buzzing venue under the Story Bridge last March but didn't end up there so I'll probably have lunch there in April.  Whether, like you, I'll then bother with a trip into Brisbane in Oct I don't know but I love doing my research and having all my options noted in my trip planner.  Having a ship pretty much  to yourself sure is a lovely treat and a rare experience!  Bon voyage 🙋

  2. Hi onlyslightlymad

I see you're doing the cruise I'll be on next October.

Could you do me a favour please?

Could you take note of any shuttles provided, their costs, their drop-off points etc.  I'm thinking especially of Brisbane and Cairns.

I'm sailing on Quantum on 4 April and check-in opens tomorrow - the first exciting moment then the waiting before zipping shut that suitcase, waving the moggies goodbye and heading for the airport!!!!

    Have a lovely cruise.

I don't know if X awards the 4 drink voucher to Elite.  The last time I looked at the Elite benefits, it was free drinks in the Elite lounge between 5-7 PM.

Celebrity most definitely doesn't do the "four drinks voucher" regime for Diamonds/Elites.  I am Diamond on RCI and sailed on Celebrity Solstice last month.  The 5-7pm free drinks was really frustrating.  For a few days I could get sparkling water as a "drink" then suddenly it was "no, that's not included, only still water is included.". And woe betide the Diamond/Elite who was 3min late to a bar - at 7.03pm I was charged for a bottle of still water!  I actually visited the Loyalty Desk on the last day to pass on my feedback in person.  I also pointed out that because "free drinks" were only available from bars (and not in the restaurants) I had to wander the ship, drink in hand, looking like a lush!!  The 5-7pm rule also means, too, that if you want a drink for eg lunch tomorrow, you need to stockpile and return to your cabin with your stash!  All just very silly (but necessary) I thought.

  4. Glad you enjoyed the review and photos - looks like we are booked again for next April :-).

Here is a photo of our desk in an outside room. I do believe it is similar in the inside rooms. There is only one European 2 prong outlet. We needed the power strip with multiple outlets. The hair dryer is in the bathroom and permanently plugged there, so that was not a concern.

As for books, I think you will be fine. Looks like there were lots, but Im guessing as I brought a kobo with ebooks. I know the printed newsheets went fast on some days.

Many thanks Mary. I travel light.... really light......with just my cell phone so that one European power point will be fine. I won't be bringing my tablet so that's why I hope there'll be some light reading. All will soon be revealed!! Thanks again. :)

  5. Many thanks for the great photos of the ship Mary. I join her on 1 September in Lisbon to cruise to Civitavecchia. There isn't much information on the internet about her and having never done an ocean cruise on such a small ship I was second-guessing my decision to try Agean Odyssey. It was the itinerary that really attracted me and the huge outdoor dining space that many ships do not provide, even though they are sailing in wonderful sunny regions.

Can you help with two things please? One CC reviewer said there was one power point in her cabin for charging devices. I need to be able to charge my phone as I use that as my camera. Was there a USB port in your cabin to charge devices? What sort of plug did the power point take? European or US?

Secondly, your photo of the library shows a reasonably large selection of books. Was there light reading/fiction amongst these books? Were there enough books to go round or did the library empty out pretty quickly?

Your help would be much appreciated.
