My husband required wheelchair assistence boarding the ship so we boarded just after haven suite guests. So we were "lucky" in a sense. Using the vibe during the week, it never really seemed to fill to capacity and we were there a lot. Maybe the higher price has put some people off? Anyway hope you have success in getting your passes. The only thing that I didn't enjoy about vibe on getaway was the set of stairs to climb since the elevator only went to 16. My husband uses a cane and that set of stairs was difficult for him. A small bother for us, but maybe a deal breaker for some.

  2. Just to mix it up- I would suggest losing the soft tie belt and pick up a gold metallic belt about 2 1/2" wide, small gold earrings with a little sparkle and an omega style necklace that fits in open space and follows curve of neckline, add a stack of fine bangles-but be careful of anything rough that could snag the chiffon of your dress. A cocktail ring is always lovely, whether precious or fashion. Small black clutch and sandals. If you have time, a red polish on toes and red or a french on fingers. Pretty dress, must go dancing to put that flounce to best use, imo ;)

  3. Oh, I forgot. We wanted to open the dividers between the balconies of our 3 cabins and we could have, but there is some ship structure between the balconies that we would have to duck under or around so we left the dividers up. Not a deal breaker but a small annoyance for families cruising together. Sorry, I don't know how to show pictures...I'm just not very techno capable.

  4. We had that cabin on our first cruise! Loved it. Reasons: loved sitting in the sun. Could run the kids up to camp carnival and/or go to serenity up only one flight of stairs. A few steps and out the door we could be out on the upper tier of the sun deck. There were only 3 cabins in our side of the hallway (our family occupied all 3) so it felt like our own private getaway. Any slight negatives for us was that those at railing on serenity could look down on balcony but we never had noise in our cabin from chairs scraping etc. Also, we enjoyed hearing the music from the lido but some may not. All in all I would choose this cabin again in a heartbeat. Also, At the time it was the only non smoking balconies on the ship which we liked a lot.

  5. Op,

We had an aft on the conquest last year. Hubby was hoping to suntan on balcony but it was really hot and hit and miss on the sun because the ship and/or the dividers cast shadows. On the upside sailsaways were AMAZING! We had great neighbours above us and to the side so it's very social. We were right beside the wrap around aft and the occupants never used it! Really???

  6. I'm far from an old salt - just booked my 4th cruise (yay!)

But I can spot an old salt just because they are comfortable cruising their way. Not overbearing, but graciously enjoying the cruise life in the ways that they enjoy.

On my first cruise I packed a fancy dress for every night and shoes to match because that's what my mother-in-law does when she cruises. Now I'm packing a few cotton maxi dresses and my favorite wide leg linen pants because that's how I feel comfortable. She lives to plan her outfits and dress to the nines and I think it's awesome but I need to pack less to get the same enjoyment. My husband loves to be right in the action on sea days while I love to curl up with a book on our balcony.

Old salts have figured out that the only wrong way to cruise is to do it the way somebody else says you should. BTW both me and my old salt MIL wear our lanyards proudly 😉

Here's to hairy leg contests, champagne art auctions, taking a million pictures, endless hours gazing out to sea or whatever else floats your boat and getting the chance to become old salts too.

  7. hi,

not sure what you want to know.

We had a room about 2 doors away.

It was awesome, we would put on our suits and the provided robes, walk up the flight of stairs and enter the spa area.

Loved the pool, the heated lounges, the quiet. It was not until the end of the cruise that the spa area became a bit crowded.

If you have specific questions about the spa balcony feel free.

    Hi

Booked a B9 on deck 14. Is there an elevator to get to thermal suites? Husband has mobility issues? Thanks☺

Just spent the evening binging on your well written lively review. It is a valuable resource to be sure. Thank you for sharing your impressions with us. It's nice to hear from a cruiser who can enjoy a variety of cruise experiences to be found on different cruise lines and ships. This review has set my mind at ease that booking getaway will not disappoint and offer a change of pace. From the menus and your photos I know my traditional husband would much prefer the seafood offerings at Le Bistro rather than the more contemporary fare at Ocean Blue.
