  1. Go on line and find taxi or private van transfer companies in Lisbo.  We booked one and they were waiting for us.  I think it was 45E cash.  The drive is not long.  Barring traffic.

The airport is insane to get through. Our female driver got us a cart and boy was it needed for our heavy suitcases. We asked directions to the Delta check in /baggage drop off many times.  Way in the back with just two counters.  The airport is full of shops on the way to your gate another nightmare to navigate.  We had plenty of time for a coffee and pastry while waiting to board our flight.

You can try Top Ten Tours  We are using them in April for transfer from the airport to our hotel and then to the cruise port 3 days later.

We’re talking Euros here people not Thai or FP money! Is the OP expecting this to be a once in a lifetime trip to Euroland? What difference does it make if they go home with a few Euro, coin or paper?

Hey thanks for your concern or is that snark?

OP has been across the pond more times than she can count.  Has  Euros on hand but needs more for our next BtoB cruise.

I bought extra Euros back when they were much lower. I still use the cash as needed. I use my cc as much as practical and then cash. I have zero problem taking home extra Euros that I can buy st a good rate. Having paid near 1.4 in the not so distant past, bringing home a few extra Euros at 1.13 doesn’t bother me at all. Some need to get a grip! AS DO YOU

  3. Does any one have a current rate for buying Euros on O's ships?  Please share.

BofA will charge me $7.50 to ship to my branch unless I get 1,000 E.  I do not need that many.

The rate as of today is  1.1835.  500 E will cost me $591.75 plus $7.50.

I might use an ATM but we are doing so many all day tours and it may get complicated.

check the fine print  for the fees  sometimes waiting until you leave  you can change the return flights  for less  than doing it now

Spoke with Delta to change to a day later it is just over $1,300 for the two of us.  YIKES!! And the supervisor waived the $300 pp change fee.

Then they said we could change to a flight that would go to Boston and it would cost $700 for the two of us.

If we are not at the gate when they board we are out of luck as we would be stand by for the next available flight and who knows when that would be.  The husband insists on extra leg room no guarantee of that I am not happy at all.

Yeah, the change fees can make it worse.

But even so, if you pay a couple hundred extra, but get a day and night in Lisbon, I would do that.  LOVELY city.  And GREAT food.  And pretty cheap place.

Will try and change flights.  Any suggestions on where to stay not far from airport/cruise terminal if possible.

Have been to Lisbon many times.  We generally stay at a pretty central location would like something not so far away.

It would be cheaper to spend the night in Lisbon, enjoy a WONDERFUL city and leisurely depart the next day.

A LOT cheaper.   And a LOT less stress.

Problem is unless Delta changes our flight times  we would face a large fee to change our flight to the next day. I plan to call them and see if they will work with me.

I had been considering taking our bags off it is not easy with the large cases for a an 18 day trip. Have a van arranged for pick up.

Thanks to everyone for your replies.

OK so that cost certainly means you are having your bags shipped directly home via common carrier. So they do not have to be at the airport the same time as you, only issue is meeting the rep at disembarkation.

Are you booking this through your cruise line, or directly with Luggage Forward? If through the cruise line there is a bit more reliability factor as the rep will be there not just for you but for all passengers who have done the same. Plus you have some recourse to demand a refund from the cruise line if the worst case scenario occurs and you end up having to take the bags to the airport yourself.

I checked our cruise docs for January and they list a phone number for Luggage Forward.  Also phoned Oceania for the June 2019 cruise and the rep gave me the contact info for Luggage Forward.  Seems like unless you do one of those "round the world" cruises you make the arrangements yourself.

At this point you may want to ask on the board for your (still unspecified) cruise line as to how efficiently their disembarkation in Lisbon normally goes: what time are the first passengers not doing express walk-off off the ship, and have others gotten to the airport in time to make an 11:45 using either the cruise lines' private car transfer--or was it best to just grab a taxi.

  8. Having difficulty using the new format.

Delta latest flight from Lisbon is 11:45 to our home airport.

The quote from Luggage Forward was $608.

Not sure what we will choose to do.  Still have to locate our bags and take them thru customs.  If we could depend on their agent being there at the appointed time it might be the way to go.

We use Luggage Forward whenever we cruise and have nothing but praise for their service.  Just this month we handed off our two 50-pound bags to their representative just outside customs in the Port of Miami and were happy to see the luggage at our home 36 hours later.  Can't say that always happens, but it was certainly nice.  In doing a quick check of prices from Lisbon to Florida though, the cost for your bags would be $518.00.  Only you can decide if using such a service is worth it  in your case or not.

    not.

  10. Thinking about using Luggage Forward.  The person on the phone told me someone would meet us just after customs to take our bags at the cruise port in Lisbon.

IF you have used this service can you share your thoughts please.    Were they on time??

We have a short time from disembarkation to the airport.  I have read about booked rides not arriving on time, lots of passengers seeking taxis, traffic jams and long lines at the airport.  Only wish our flight was a bit later than 11:45.

Was thinking it would make it easier for us as we do not have to get on line to check in our bags.

We could also reserve a taxi vs the more costly Mercedes van.

We have two large suitcases at 50 lbs each to ship.  Will take our carry ons with us.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

  11. We are arriving at the Lisbon port from Cadiz where the ship leaves at 4 PM

If you disembarked an Oceania ship (not an overnight)  what are the chances that the ship will be cleared prior to the 8 am disembarkation time?

I understand  the drive is not long but traffic and long lines at the airport could impact our prompt arrival at the departure gate.

  12. Great information from both of these posts.  Unfortunately we are not doing an overnight in Lisbon.
Disembarkation scheduled for 8 am and our delta flight is 11:45.

O will NOT due transfers in this time frame.   Our last experience with ship transfers was a disaster bus sat waiting while passengers had no clue where to bring their luggage and what bus they were on.

NO thanks to 2 taxis we are not that adventurous especially with the short time we have.

Have read before how long it takes in the Lisbon airport.  Keeping fingers crossed and will take a chill pill on the day we get off the ship.😂

At least this forum does have an "embarrassed smiley face"...

Actually, although this was *not* what I meant, there is a great taxi and car service vendor in Barcelona, which I think might be in Japan (JOKE ALERT!), and they handle most large towns in Europe.

Our first experience was with a private water taxi pickup in Venice, for less than any local providers.  They've since helped us with other transportation outside of Spain.  We'll finally be using them in, yes, *Spain* next spring.
That was why I asked if OP was interested in "taxi" type transportation (and costs).

Please share the name of the company your used.  I will give them a try.

Why not explain exactly what you need (number of persons, amount of luggage) and ask about what vehicle would be used, and the cost?

If they *only* do cookie-cutter "number of persons decides the vehicle and amount of luggage, no changes allowed", then find a different provider.

We've used Google for private transportation, but only when there's a reason that a taxi wouldn't work.

    GC

Did that twice.  Really needs some reading skills on her part.

  15. Anyone have a contact for a private provider for 2 persons going from the Lisbon Port to the Lisbon Airport.

One outfit said we can only being one case per person. I was wanting to use their 8 person Mercedes van.

Told her 2 people 4 suitcases.  If we were 8 that would be 8 cases.

I know in some cities the cars are too small for the luggage we drag along

We are doing a back to back and will have two large cases and two wheeled roll ons.

  16. Having a difficult time finding a transfer company for our Oceania cruise next year.

Wanted to book a large mini van.  We are on a back to back and will have two large suitcases and 2 wheeled roll ons.

Tried to book and 8 passenger van for the two of use .  Lady said only one suitcase per person allowed.  Really I am paying for exclusives use.

If there were 8 persons each could bring a suitcase.

Any one know of a Lisbon Portugal company we can hire to take us to the airport?

    Thanks in Advance

    · Do you limit day passes and pay as you go passes?

Not really. We are a small semi secluded facility and our focus is relaxation but with much fun. We don't have motorized watersports equipment. Further we do not have an arrangement with any of the tour companies and so have never had scores of visitors descending on us. We have never done more than about 30 cruise passengers at any one time and we make an effort to ensure we are not going above 50 on any one day. Some days, especially in the off-season (May – December) you may very well have the beach to yourself.

**This refund [(ii)] is not cast in stone as circumstances will vary and we will refund accordingly. We are guided by our desire to be fair. We want every visitor to leave with an overall positive impression and good feelings towards Beachlimerz. We want also to stay in business for many years to come. We shall strike a balance.

  18. Thanks so much that is a big help.

We generally sail on Oceania and they stop at private islands owned by Carnival and Norwegian. Just get off the ship and head to the beach or pool. No fees except for food and beverages.

We are on Celebrity next. Jan. And yes lots of folks never get off the ship.

  19. Thank you for the detailed report on Blue Water

We are one of four ships in port in January. I fear that if too many folks go there will be a large crowd at the rather small looking pools.

Can you tell me what the fee per person was and cost of cab to get there. Not sure if the cab drivers will take US $. I assume the hotel will take a credit card for resort use and dining.
