  1. I happen to be an agent that does book MSC.

My experience to date working with them in 2023 has been fine.

No long phone wait times, a professional easy to use booking site, and my clients enjoy the line.

Most of the posts on this thread are pretty outdated, so maybe they are listening and improving all the time.

  2. Hi,

It is possibly too late, or you may have already found this offer ....

    Qantas Walkabout airpass

We did a similar trip to Australia. We were able to book our international flight and 2 domestic flights on one ticket for not much more than the international.

The ticket got us to Sydney, Alice Springs and Cairns, the two farthest points. We rented cars in Sydney to see Canberra, and drive North to Brisbane. The coast towns are interesting, along with the sanctuaries, wildlife etc.

3-4 days in Sydney taking the ferries to the different areas, the Opera house tour, the different beaches and neighborhoods.

If you make it to Cairns, I suggest the Quicksilver reef experience out of Port Douglas. They have a fixed platform activity center that is perfect for families. To go all that way and not see the reef would be a loss.

We did the Wayoutback tour from Alice Springs to see Uluru, the Olgas and Kings Canyon. This trip can be pricy but is really good to see in a short time frame. But also might be more than the children could handle. It depends on the time of year - heat, floods and walking ability. There are other tours with a more moderate activity level.

Like many large countries, the different states/provinces have many and different personalities. It would be hard to cover more than 2-3 in a 2 week period without more flights to and fro.

It is easy to drive. Remember Australia is one country our CC insurance coverage is not available.

The Australian dollar to the US$ is a really good exchange right now. We saved half on our trip by buying AUD when the rate was in our favor.

It is an amazing country!!! You will enjoy it no matter what you choose to do.

  3. I don't know what line you are on, but I was just there for embarkation with the Star Flyer (sailing ship) and it was easy-peasy. We had our driver take us from Nice to Monte Carlo and we drove straight up to the port, got out, dropped our bags early, and were able to do the hop-on/hop-off bus which picked up a few meters down the dock. I would show you some photos, but have yet to get them off my camera. The side we were on was very small and very easy to get around. There was seating inside of the terminal, an information desk (get the Monte Carlo booklet for discounts!!), some vending machines, and toilettes.

Of course, YMMV if you are not on the same side of the port where the Star Flyer docks!;)

    Thanks for the info.

    The cruise line is Crystal.

  4. Monte Carlo

I don't have any personal experience with Port Hercules, Monte Carlo. Could you please tell me about the port, drop off and luggage handling etc Pictures if you have some.

If a taxi takes someone to the gate.... how far is the luggage porters from there?

    Thanks,

  5. We have used www.friend-in-france.com twice. They picked us up from Nice airport and took us to the door of our apartment rental. When it was time to embark in Monte Carlo they picked us up on time and dropped us right in the port in Monte Carlo. The porters were right there to take our cases onto the ship.

If you go on their website you can get a price after entering your flight details and timings.

Thank you. I will look into their site. This information is helpful.

  7. Hi Cruisinlivin,

I recommend Andre TAXI, who are the main Taxi company in St Jean-cap-Ferrat.

We were rescued by them last weekend when our transfer to Nice booked through Dream Tours ( highly regarded on Cruisecritic and TripAdvisor) never showed and we almost missed our flight. This was not the worst though. The subsequent car sent by them was from an unlicensed driver of a hire car with no insurance for passengers! We demanded they take us back to our hotel because driver got lost on way to airport! Be careful!

My full review is on Trip Advisor under Dream Tours, and on the Silversea forum.

Andre our driver owns his company and is recommended by our Hotel Royal Riviera in Cap Ferrat.

To give you an idea of cost for us from Cap Ferrat to Nice Airport was €70 in a luxury Mercedes.

    hope this helps.

    Thank you for your recommendation.

I sent them an email, with no response so far. Just sent another one in hopes they respond.

  8. I have seen all the Heli talk..... I am looking for information about a private land transfer and your experience.

Who have you used that you were happy with?

Where is the drop off at the port in relationship to the luggage porters, outside a gate with a walk.... or right up to the porters?

    Any details is much appreciated.

  9. We are considering the HAL Noordam which includes Split and Dubrovnik.

I am very interested in seeing the amazing waterfalls in Croatia.

One of the places is Plitvice Lakes National Park.

Does anyone know if we would be able to see some of the many waterfalls on a shore excursion or private trip from Split or Dubrovnik?

    Thanks so much!

Check for private tours or renting a car in Split. It is quite a ride to the park from Split. It would be too far to go from Dubrovnik.

They are beautiful and worth a visit. There is not much along the way though, it would just be a ride there and back possibly.
