  1. just want to put my two cents in. I know I am from Canada and you are in the USA but I would like to think that you get the same level of customer service from your bank cc as we do. I had a dispute with a cell phone company for minutes I purchased on my phone. A year later what I thought I bought was not what I had. When dealing with the cell phone company they where rude and would not reactivate my phone. I contacted my credit card company and since the service I thought I had purchased was not given the gave me a full refund. I had to fax over an itemized list of what had transpired (phone calls, emails etc) and copies of receipts. Within 30 I got my money back. So I would suggest contacting your credit card company and asking to speak to the department that handles the disputes of charges. I would say that in your case its special circumstance. Technically you have not taken possession of your purchase per say yet. One other thing is in Canada all TA who are legit are members of an association and if we ever have disputes we can report them. If its serious enough they can have their licences revoked. Have you asked RC to cancel you booking and re book directly through them. Maybe you already answered that.. sorry if its a repeat. I am waiting to hear what happens too. I would like to think that it will all work out.. just do not let this ruin your vacation. If its not resolved before you leave go have a great time and when you get back to life go at it again :)

  2. I notice that no one is talking about all the behind the scene people. What about the laundry, kitchen staff and cleaners... they too get a piece of the pre paid tips. Reversing your pre paid is talking away from them too. I bet no one ever goes up to the person you see in the halls cleaning and give them a little tip or go give the guy who hands you fresh towels as you leave the ship. I personally will tip extra to whomever if I get exceptional service. Exceptional service to me is just making my vacation all that more memorable. Its the little things like remembering my name or something I have told them or like. I see it a paying if forward.

  3. Check out cruiseplum.com for RCCL super cheap deals for solo. Some 70% less than regular. So cheap must be a mistake.

I search on this site often. I find that being able to see solo pricing in CND (as some cruise lines do not have solo/CND pricing options) I then compare on the cruise lines web site. I screen shot both and then go to my TA and they have always been able to match the lowest. Sometimes even getting be better cabins once they talk to the cruise line. Just want to point out too that its not just RCCL I would say its all the major lines.

  4. I find it funny that no one is telling you to check with either your travel agent or with your US immigrations. I am from Canada so I do not know what your govt sites are like but up here our govt has specific sites for travelling. It tells us things like countries not to travel to, ones that require visa's etc.. I do not doubt that cruising in the USA they say you do not need one but you are still travelling to foreign countries. Contact the cruise line you might not be getting the correct info either as most cruise lines are headquartered in foreign countries too :)

I say better safe than sorry check with a reputable source not cruise critic hearsay:)

  5. I did my first solo last year and did the mystery dinner on the first night. the other nights I ate at the main dinning room and would tell them that they could sit me alone or with others. On one night when I was waiting for my table some of the people I met at the mystery diner came up behind me and told the host to sit me with them. I enjoyed their company the first night so I did. I too, as others have said, like to do my own thing but was also nice to have some faces from the dinner to say hi too. If I was sitting out on deck and someone with a different accent than mine sat beside me I would ask them where they where from to strike up a conversation if I was in the mood to be social :). On the other hand I also did not apologize if someone invited me to join them but I was not feeling it. I was not rude would just say "no thanks I already had plans etc... I say just enjoy it there is so much to do and see on the ship that it should never be boring.

  6. I am just back from the freedom and live in Canada. I found a web site called goportcanaveral.com. I flew into Florida the day before the cruise. This web site has options. I choose the one that picked me up at the airport, took me to the hotel of my choice (from their site) picked me up the day of the cruise and took me to the ship, then lastly met me when we got back and took me back to the airport. I have no complaint I would recommend and use this site again. Never had to wait long for any of the pickups.

  7. I did the mystery on the jewel last year and the food was great. Will be doing it again when I cruise on freedom in October. If you like the idea of an up close show that you feel part of then go for it. I love these shows as cheesy as they are. Great food, great fun and great company

  8. when you read review read between the lines. Most of the ones that have negative remarks if written by someone who is being honest usually indicate that its just there personal choice. Food, activities etc.... Go expecting to have a great time and you will. A vacation is all about what you choose to make of it. How could you possible have a bad time when you have sun, sea and sand.:)

  9. I did my first one back in October and when I got to the port there was a duty free shop in the terminal. I was told that I could buy 2 bottles of wine and bring it on board to my cabin. I could open and drink when ever no problem. Not sure if the same goes for hard liquor but I think there is a FAQ on royals page that gives details. If not I am sure they can tell you in the terminal store. I know is only 2 but its better than nothing

  10. so I am doing my first solo cruise also only my second cruise. My question, I am hesitant on going to a meet and mingle. I like to do my own thing and am a concerned that everyone wants to get together during the cruise. Can someone give some input on what happens during and after the meet and mingles?

What is the general feel and goal of the meet and mingle. I am not anti social and like to meet and talk to people I am just not looking for my new BBF if you know what I mean. The purpose of going solo is that I am on no one ones clock but my own and can be invisible if I choose?
