  1. Thanks for the suggestions. I saw the Lagoonarium online somewhere and was wondering if we could just go there or whether we had to book a tour. Now I'll check to see if they do pick ups from the dock.

On Bora Bora - Rent your own skiff – La Plage - laplage.bora@hotmail.com - You don't need a special license to hire a motor boat from La Plage. Currently it appears to be the only place for small boat hire Bora Bora. They only have a few, so book ahead to make sure of availability on the date you want. La Plage will provide an ice box and just meters down the road (south) there is a small supermarket where locals shop. Their prices are good, usually around $150 - $200 for the day. You can buy some snacks and drinks to take on your boat adventure. Boat hire is available between 8.30am and 5.30pm. From their dock you have easy access to the snorkeling off their back side of the Sofitel Motu and the area where the manta rays hang out.

On Moorea - good snorkeling between the motus on the north west side of the island. There are shuttles from the IC Moorea, Les Tipaniers and Coco Beach.

Go to the Lagoonarium. Easy and accessible.

They say they can pick you up at the tender drop off location. This is off the beaten trek …

  2. We will be visiting Pago Pago, Bora Bora, Papeete and Moorea this October and looking to do as much snorkeling as we can get in. Family of 4 (all adults) so taking tours get expensive. Are there areas we can get to independently on any of the islands that will give us a good snorkeling experience? First time visitors to this part of the world, really looking forward to it. Oh forgot to say we'll be cruising so time is somewhat limited in each spot. Thanks all.

  3. For folks on upcoming Crown itineraries this winter, don't miss the destination lecturer (Julio Delgado). A number of our guides were amazed at how much information we already knew just from attending his lectures. We also enjoyed the scholarly lectures by Dr. Kus. The Princess theater was often filled for both lecturers.

Hi Jackie, hope you made it home without incident. We finally made it home and I'm going through the hundreds of photos we took. Came across a nice one of your sister and BIL at the Montevideo sign. My email is bksmith78@gmail.com have Linda email me if she's interested, I'm happy to send the picture on to her.
