  1. I agree with the suggestion for Victor Bodden tours. We were in Trujillo Honduras 3 years ago and did a tour with him there and it was our favorite of the cruise and only around $35 each. Looks like he has several options for Roatan around that price point.

  2. We had both on one sailing with NCL and it was because the port we went to didn’t have a tender service in place so lifeboats had to be used. I assume that would be what dictated it anywhere but as others said Freeport and Nassau are not going to be tender ports.

  3. Thank you all so much for the feedback! cruisenewbie1 thank you so much for the info about the lock. We had read about that and it does give us peace of mind. That should remedy her getting out without us being with her. The open air on the cove balconies is somewhat concerning with my little escape artist and I hadn't thought about splash from the waves causing issues so that's something to consider too. Such good points to consider from everyone!

  4. Can anyone tell me the differences? We are booked in a Cove Balcony for March honestly because at time of booking it was cheapest. We booked early saver with price protection so if I wanted to do a guarantee balcony I could put about $150 in my onboard account since it's that much cheaper now. Our main concern is the location if we did the guarantee (are there balconies that are obscured by lifeboats?) and the fact that we are traveling with a 4 year old who likes to climb and we are thinking the cove being more closed in might be safer? Not sure if the balcony "railings" (glass?) are higher on regular balcony rooms or the same height as cove. This will be our first time on Carnival and first time in a balcony room so any info on this would be appreciated.

  5. I just called Carnival to inquire as we are booked on a March 4th cruise porting in Montego Bay. The rep said that as of now we are still porting there but that safety was first priority and they would make itinerary changes closer to cruise time if there was risk. Fingers crossed they make the right call and reroute.

  6. We were on the Jewel in March for our first cruise. We ate at Teppanyaki and didn't make reservations until the day before and had no trouble. We also ate a la carte sushi and were literally the only ones at the sushi bar and it was phenomenal! The other nights we ate in the MDR and never had reservations for either....we used the freestyle dailies to plan our day and meal times and it worked really well. The Jewel is a beautiful ship and we found the crew to be top notch! We sailed to Cozumel, Belize, and Honduras and had an amazing time. Don't plan too much and enjoy your week!
