We are deciding between the Surf Internet and the Unlimited (Xcelerate) on the Soltisce.

For those that may have taken the basic Surf package, how are the speeds? Does it slow to a degree of being unusable? We do not stream Facetime, Skype or vids onboard. However, we do check work emails and have the occasional attachment. We also tend to upload photos (although of mobile size <1MB). 

So, the question really is, is the basic package usable (making the unlimited overkill for us)? Or, does it throttle down so much that it's not usable at sea when everyone is online?

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and answers to my question. We've done a little more research and decided to change our cruise from the Edge to a balcony on the Solstice in June. I do plan to try this ship sometime, but after reading these comments, coupled with others online about the Edge, we're going to do a more traditional ship instead. Perhaps the sentiment by Cruisestitch seems to be rather common (about not sailing on an Edge ship) among seasoned cruisers. Since we've been on twenty+ cruises, I'd rather set us up for success (since this is our first time on Celebrity). So, going with our gut. Thanks again all for the replies. 

Question for either of you—does that window in the large porthole open (or does the top half lower)?  Thanks. I’m just curious if it’s sealed or open to fresh air?  Thanks a bunch!
