  1. MSC has been testing dining options for Fantastica.  That being My Choice. Originally when booked, reservation showed “complimentary restaurant”. Now I have been changed to My Choice - any restaurant.  Sailing on Divina.

It starts with the price point and accepting some shortcomings. I have sailed twice and have not had issues. Yes issues with passengers behaving badly (great title for TV show) but not MSC crew.

Just off the Meri this morning. We too had no issues with any crew members. It was a Thanksgiving sailing with lot of families. Compared to the other guys, I would call this MSC Lite.

Ha. I was surprised that MSC wanted to see the DD214 *again* since we had cruised with them a few times previously. Most cruise lines link it to your "Voyager" number and some even show military rates when pricing a cruise. But this is MSC after all. It's never seamless. Sent the DD214 to our TA and she forwarded to MSC for repricing to include the extra 10%.

Just curious. Both my TA and MSC CS have told me Military discount is not combinable with VC discount. It's one or the other. Were you successful with this? It's also stated in MSC T&C. Thanks.

Celebrity and Royal Caribbean handle OBC differently than MSC.  MSC does not refund any OBC whether from the cruise line or from your travel agency.  The only way to make it refundable is through the casino.

Your source ???  TA OBC is always purchased as a "Gift" and therefore is refundable.

i just noticed on my TA invoice it says 500 non refundable OBC so i wrote to him and his accounting dept will change it to a check

he also told me MSC made it against the rules to discount cruises so he cannot just discount my pricing. has anyone else gotten a discount price up front recently?

Sure, the discount comes from Voyagers Club, either 5% or 10% which is applied when you are booked. The other way to lower the cost is to keep checking fares. They do go down and you should be able to cancel and rebook. MSC doesn't refare like the other cruise lines.

  6. Price drop guarantee doesn't mean the same as the other cruise lines. The others refare the existing reservation. My experience with MSC, when I had a price drop was to cancel the existing reservation and rebook with the lower fare. Problem with this, is when you cancel, your cabin goes back into inventory. So I had to rebook with a new cabin #. When my old cabin reappeared, I called my TA to do the switch.

  7. Did you create Your MSC Account? That's where the reservation can be found. Most likely using the booking number not found error is because the Voyager-id you got from matching has a different first/last name than your reservation name. They both have to match. If that's the case, contact Voyager to correct the name.

  8. Just concluded, was a sale for all Mera sailings into next year for a free Balcony upgrade. We cancelled and rebooked (same cabins) and it turned out that we paid the O/V price. For 2 cabins - we saved about $1,000. Didn't have to search for this, it was right on their homepage. Sometimes you have scroll down.

Tried to get TA to apply my son’s newly received Voyager Club number to his booking but she said she couldn’t because it says ‘personal information doesn’t match’.

She thinks it’s because on her booking it shows his first and middle name together. We are past final payment and she is telling me they usually won’t give the discount at this point anyway, though I know many posters here have had success in getting the 5% as OBC.

if I call MSC myself would I be able to add it or is the TA the only person who can do this as I booked through her?

Typically, this problem is because the reservation name does not match the Voyager Club name. Email Voyager to correct.   MSCVoyagersClub@msccruisesusa.com

I cannot link my account to my reservation number.  It says link number, I add the number, says Success, and then I get an error message.

The reservation number is correct because I can log in by my reservation number, but not my account.  Therefore cannot use the app.

Thanks in advance for the help.  Next step calling MSC.  Yikes.

Most likely the names don't match. Email them to fix.
